My xbox has recently died with the red rings :( ive checked the manufacture date and its 2006/10/18

But i purchased on 16/06/2007, is microsoft still fixes Rrods for free?

Also if the drive is flashed does it need to be put back to the original firmware or do they not check it. Have searched online for some assistance but couldnt find a definitive answer.

I still have the Warranty sticker intact... just need to know if they check for fw hacks when u send it back.

Thanks

Microsoft can tell if is has been flashed, unless u saved the exact setting before the flash.

as the manfacture date is under 3 years they will fix it for free and send it back as i just did it a few weeks ago but it needs to be unflashed or they wont even touch it

my mate had his xbox flashed.. he got the rrod and sent it off to get fixed.

If they are busy they don't even check the seal - let alone if it is flashed. A mate of mine was dumb enough to send one with no seal and he left a backup in the disc drive. It came back fixed including the copied disc :D

Repair has been logged, still eligible for 3year RRoD warranty, plus they finally associated my LiveiD with my console, so now I can finally use the online repair centre. All in all a sad day but at least its off to the menders lol. Think i'm gonna get meself an Elite soon anyways, just waiting for the right price :)

remember, its 3 years from date of purchase, not date of manufacture.
