XBOX360 Resident Evil 5 exclusive demo in Japan only - instructions how to play here!!

The Resident Evil 5 demo was released December 5th on the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace. Even though all dialogue and menus are in English, this demo isnt available for anyone outside of Japan.
Here is a way you can play it in the UK :-)

1. Download these five rar files from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=fdf4f1773666296791b20cc0d07ba4d2e66f2dcbbe596359
2. Extract Resident Evil 5 Demo.part1.rar with the rest of the rar files in the same directory.
3. This should create a folder called content.
4. Create a data disc and burn the content folder to a CD or DVD.
5. After the burn is complete place the disc into your Xbox360 and the Xbox should read Mixed Media Disc.
6. Finally, go to your Game Library and the Resident Evil 5 demo should appear there. Enjoy!

Are there any risks to doing this, such as the Microsoft ban hammer? :?
#2
unless you take it online, then no chance.......

unplug the internet from the console and you should be fine
#3
Risk a ban just to play a demo? No thanks, will wait for the UK release.
TY to the OP for the info though.
#4
So, we have to join this MediaFire to do this right? Any risks here?

No, you just download the files from there, no need to join up.

Well I've been playing it since last week and it's VERY good. Like faevilangel said, if you're worried just unplug the network cable or don't play it online but it's only a demo, hardly like you've stolen a game or something.

Video of first 10 mins of level 1 if you want to see what it's like first here

10 mins of second level here

ms will still know if you have played it evan if you unplug from the net...
they timestamp everything you play... If you unplug and play a game then play another, when you go back online your console updates with ms..

if you check xbox.com look at your gamertag and your notice the games that you played when your xbox was unpluged on your recently played list.

what if you signed into a new profile that wasnt XBL enabled?

i've been playing it since saturday with no worries at all.
I pay for xbox live
A demo is free
The demo is 100% in english (apart from the name itself)
I haven't heard of anyone at all getting banned for doing it...what are microsoft going to say to you?
'you downloaded something that we give away for free off a torrent site, you are banned!'
no.

It's exactly the same as me buying a region free xbox 360 game and playing it.

Babbabooey
yeah they do

on further inspection, maybe they don't.... not in the online list on xbox.com at least.
I know they 100% do show up when you are actually playing it though (as in "friend A is playing such-and-such-demo"), so if it's tracked there then I'm sure it'll get passed to MS somwhere along the line.

MS don't give reasons when they ban you, you'll just wake up one day to find you can no longer connect.
#18
Haha, seriously they won't, but if you don't want to play it then that's totally up to you.
Becausethe demo is on a disc, unless you have the disc iniside your console there is no reference to it at all.

might be a good idea to do this..
Id create just a new tag, dont bother with registering it or anything.
this may work
#20
So this plays completely off the disc then?!

yeah.. where esle would it play from? lol :w00t:
#22
yes it does, nothing is installed on your hard drive, and when you take the disc out there is no mention of it, it's not even under 'recent games'.

all other demos are played off the hard drive...it seems a fair enough question.
#24
so this can be played off using a CD-R ? doesnt have to be a DVD disc?
Also how big is the files?

think i might try this when i get home from work in an hour!
- omg 3:30 already!!!
#25
yes a cd-r works fine for me, the one i downloaded was 472 mb

However I just used a popular torrent site and downloaded it all as a single file, without rar.s

Without being a tech whizz that was along the lines of what I was thinking...that said, aren't the ones you get with the official magazine playable off disc? Doh!

Thanks for advice anyway
#27
As far as I know this is completely safe to play.

You need to burn the entire file....from contents onwards
#31
i didnt get a content folder when i unzipped it, so all this goes into a folder called content or contents?
#32
when you un-rar it will create the folder called content
#33
this is a great guide, i'm not sure if i should post it here or not, so if i'm in the wronf could a mod, kindly tell me to remove it? cheers.

to be honest the torrents of it are more straight forward than the rar. version linked in the op.
#35
this is how it should look...

I'm having probs too - just downloading the thing!

If anybody feels generous and will burn an extra CD and stick it in the post to me, I'd be grateful. Just PM me for an address :) I'll pay postage and CD cost or post you a blank DVD in return
