xls file sent via email how can i open it?

Nothings straigh foward for me lol been sent a xls file and I need to open it,yes i know who its from but I dont know what to use to open it?

i think you need microsoft office or any other xls programs, which you could probably download for free from places like download.com
forgot to add i think its a spreadsheet, if that helps
its the file format of spreadsheets in office 2007.you need the viewer to open it. Otherwise get the sender to save it in 1997-2003 format
ahhh think i have that on my other pooter will try having a look and see if i can open it in webmail on there before anything else thankyou very much :)
actually I'm working from memory here. I think xls is 97 to 03 format. You can download a viewer from microsoft anyway. I'm on the N95 at the mo and cant check
cant notepad files open xsl aswell just incase you didnt want to wait, layout might be wrong but may still open, cant remember been years since used spreadsheets
xls is a MS excel spreadsheet. There is software out that that allows you to view. If you have "google docs" you can also view it online. (You just need to create a free account if you haven't already!)
If you don't have Microshaft office then download and install [url]www.openoffice.org[/url] for nout.
