English always big themselves up. Face it, your not gonna win the World Cup! (even if you do somehow beat Germany!)

We know we probably wont win the world cup but nothing wrong with a hoping, its usually the media that bigs us up I'm sure most England supporters know there is a long way to go starting with todays hurdle :)
Tbh some of you Scottish have some proper cheek considering you couldnt even make it to the world cup.

I'm also sick of hearing about 1966. It was over 40 years ago and England have done **** all since. You lot really need to get over yourself. Winning the world cup, yes, its a good thing and I wouldn't mind supporting England if they didn't keep on bringing up "1966". It's the bragging that makes me support everyone else but England.

I'm not the one who keeps on going on about something from the past.

Have you not watched the World Cup? It's all the ****ing commentators go on about, even when England aren't playing!

Sassie, I thought you said you watched the games?

It was less than 15 seconds into the commentary of the 1st England game it was mentioned.

Folk in the rest of the UK are just a bit fed up of having it rammed down their throats at every given opportunity.

And don't even get me started on the BS that surrounds England/Germany games and the War.

No it doesn't.

1966 has nothing to do with a 2010 World Cup, it's like going into a F1 race and saying "I won 40 years ago in a 1966 Ferarri" No one cares, it was nice, but it doesn't matter much now when you lose every time and can't beat mediocre teams.

It doesn't stop me watching either, if anything, I've watched more England games than any other. Purely because I want the other teams to win.

good on ya  Think it is pretty sad that you spend time wacthing something that you have no support in, but each to their own, like said earlier must be hard when you havent got a team to support, as supporting 31 isnt really like supporting anything

Dont be bitter little man, the media don't represent us & I havent heard a single person mention 66.
I'm getting a bit sick of bitter Scottish people thinking we care what they think, I think its you that needs to get over yourself.

Funny that, isn't it.

Maybe send a letter to the LTA and ask that they revise his title from British to Scottish.

I dont hear many people calling him Scottish when he loses. If they do it is because it is hilarious to see Scotland getting wound up.

Firstly i want to see England win today.

But to say "I havent heard a single person mention 66" must mean you don't watch a lot of TV or read newspapers or listen to the radio.

England and 1966 are mentioned constantly, even in the ******** Wimbledon reports. Now i reckon us Scots, Welsh and Irish are maybe a little over sensitive to it but it is grating. When i tune in for a game (not featuring England) i really want to hear about the teams playing and not how they could meet England in the Finals or Semis and a debate on the England team selection for three days later.

But i also understand that the vast majority of UK citizens are English as broadcasters such as ITV and TV advertisers are meeting the needs of their viewers- STV doesn't have to purchase the broadcasts and can show whatever ads it wants. However the BBC is a public and national service and as such should be a little less jingoistic

Yeah, i know what you mean. My English pals never mention it. Same with 1967. Very few Celtic fans talk about it but Rangers fans reckon it gets shoved down their throats at every opportunity with TV and theatre shows.

But Good Luck and have a little sympathy for us Celts having to put up with Lineker, Shearer and the traitors Hansen. Townsend and Lawrenson :whistling:

a few points to make about this

1 - Its the press that go on about it, not the general English fan

2 - 'WE' bring it up.yet you mentioned it first...the same thing really with 99% of Scottish people who moan about this. It gets mentioned a few times by the media and you all bang on about it 24/7
