YATES stole my money

Went for a drink with some friends in November and used my card to buy a round. The barmaid said problem with my card voided the order and retried which worked. received 2 receipts one voided and the other accepted. Few days later charged for both. Sent 3 letters with photocopies of the original receipts and print out of bank statement only one reply saying they will get back to me in December ignored ever since.

How can they get away with this it is only £9.15 but its the principal

You had no cash on you for the fruit machine = poor show:roll:

surely they'd be seperate transaction numbers on the declined and accepted reciepts, if you can match them with the bank reference codes, then you should be ok. worth a shot anyway

Lolz at paying in Yates with a card! Cheap and cheerfulpub and you had to pay on a card? Was you scared the local "wildlife" at the watering hole would rob you?

Agree with the above poster, yates fruit machines are win-win! most of the people who use yates dont know how to work a machine and run the sequences so they get stacked with cash, late Fridays and Saturdays they are easy pickings, just wait for someone to fill it, keep an eye on it and as soon as they walk away jump in there!!

I hardly ever carry cash.

I can't be bothered going to the cash machine.

I also know that I will not gain interest on cash in my purse :-D

cheap and cheerful....

10.70 round for a double vodka lemonade and a pint of fosters....

yeah, well cheap that one!

I think the £9.15 was for 3 pints. so it is quite cheap for London. Reason for using card, did not expect to go drinking, maybe just the one. 5 hours later the £30 cash in pocket went, my turn for a another round so used my card. Why leave a warm pub to go to a cash machine when i can just hand over a card. I now know don't do it because they screw you.

Jokes a side if you can do it, if not go ahead. Any one know any useful knowledge like Yates head quarters address. My other half works for a national newspaper so can use the company letter headed paper. So far sent photocopies of receipt and bank statement all recorded delivery and all ignored.

Your bank should be able to help you if you contact them.

Bank wont do much as it wasnt direct debit...it was a payment apparently authorised by OP. Best bet is just to go back into the place itself...show them receipts/bank statements and ask for refund.

Yeah but as OP gave permission for the transaction to be completed, the bank cant do much. They can do indemnity claims on direct debit's but thats part of DD guarantee. Actual payments (instore/internet/over the phone) the banks cant do a great deal. I personally think OP is best speaking to Consumer Direct (08454 04 05 06) or going back to the pub where the incident happened.
