why so negative? the majority of people will scuff an alloy with low profile tyres on. as a new driver it would be a miracle if i didnt

hence the question would you go for something as fast and expensive as a fiesta ST as a first car instead of a cheaper run around that if it gets in scruffs and scrapes wont be too badly affected.

cos whatever car i got its still gonna cost to get sorted. a scuffed alloy is nothing. if i had wrapped the car round a lamp post i would understand the negativity

I don't fancy your insurance bill though.
Nice cars though.

You going to make everyone interrogate you? lol

How old are you and how the hell did you get insured on it?

Bad move on the alloys, don't get used to knocks here and there, you should look after your car. I think it is the attitude that people are moaning about

I have been driving for over 20 years, I still wont have alloys!

oh i dont want to 'get used' to knocking it, id be devastated if it was the body work. all im saying is the majority of people scuff an alloy so im not going to beat myself up over it, but i will wait a while incase i accidently do it again before getting it sorted. i dont think its too noticable though.

im 24, the insurance was £1080 with 2 named drivers on it

Yes, after a while they would look like a bomb hit them if i did, wheras steel wheels with the plastic covers are cheap!
#19
£1080? Are you kidding, you don't think that's too bad? My bf has the exact same car, he's had an accident so only has one year no claims and he only pays £700. I've got a 3.5l V6 which is insurance group 19 and I only pay £600! I'd shop around if I were you.

it is true! I rarely parallel park, at home its a garage, out its usually a car park
i cant stand the look of scuffed wheels, so buying some cheapo plastic covers ( i buy 2 sets when they are cheap, so the nearside I have extras for) is worth it

some fo the worst damage you will come across is those darn raised kerbs that stick out, you might misjudge one and take a chunk out of your wheel, be alert!

at the end of the day, although some did suggest a cheaper type car, if you wanted the ST and you can afford it, its your money. good luck, and hope you dont have to learn any lessons the hard way

oh youre back!

no i dont think its bad. other insurers were going to be over 2k, and yes i know you have a 350z. you only have to look at other threads new drivers have made to see that its a good price. out of interest did he have the accident in the fiesta or a different car?

im dreading parking in a bay actually, the turning circle on that car is crap. i can see me getting in a pickle at work and everyone laughing at me lol
#24
It depends on the tyre profile, I had 15s on my Clio and there was no problems, my current car has 16 but again there is alot of tyre so relatively low risk of kerbing the alloys. I guess yours are low profile and 16 inch? Maybe more?

The insurance seems cheap good price if you ask me

Plastic covers for alloys?

You can always just put steel wheels on it for a few months :-D

17s on the st  and yeah low profile, 40s.

without the named drivers the insurance was going to be 1600 so ive saved loads by adding them

my other tip is, when you have been driving on the motorway, triple check your speed when you pull of
or you underestimate your speed, I came close to a problem there myself in the early days

My last tip is: check all your fluids and tyres once a week, get to know where they all go, and the basics under the bonnet

dont let me hear 'you ran out of water' on your engine and you didnt notice, small leaks often can be noticed before they ruin your engine!
