Having problems with Yodel, fed up with sitting in all day for no one to appear...

dont want to spend money on a 0871 number

Someone on Amazon has just posted a freephone number and how to get past the parcel reference error (if you dont have a tracking number)

I quote

"There was no card left and we weren't out, then trying to contact them by telephone is an impossibility as no contact numbers given on their web sites but directed to a site that gives their customer relations number (What customer relations) which will cost you 62p per minute. Rather than write the details I will leave it to the readers imagination. (And yes you are right, it cost money with no info) However reading through this site someone gives a number out 0800 1577777 and with no card ref which you will be asked for, type 12345678 and it works !!!!!!!!! Give em hell"

That is the number printed on the red card left by Yodel because I was not in for them to collect a return to Amazon. Tried using the reference number on the card and the automated system would not recognise it. Having therefore sent Yodel several emails and (surprise surprise) no response I have emailed Amazon to tell them how non existent Yodel's customer service and for advice as to how to proceed.

I emailed Amazon about Hermes, similar situation. Said I was fed up waiting in, and was going to be out all day on wednesday. They chased up Hermes, who then delivered on wednesday. Muppets

Find it strange why Amazon with normally such good customer service choose to use a delivery company like Yodel who have such a poor reputation.

They're cheap!

If you don't like it, don't use Amazon and they'll eventually change couriers. They may even decide to pay some tax. (_;)

anyone wanting YODEL just do as previously informed dial 0800 1577777 and when you get the auto thing type in or say 12345678 thats for the card reference no it will then say not recognized say it again , and it will say again not recognized hold on whilst I put you through to an operator, it does work I just done it .......Dodgy

I had a day off work today to receive a Yodel delivery, Well yodel stops outside my house driver looks out van window great, I went out to sign for the delivery' the van was heading off down the road, later I checked their tracking it read words to the effect, nobody in left card, what a load of plonkers he never bothered to get out the van

Crap service from Yodel today.

Waited a week from date of order to actual delivery - so is it the supplier's fault or Yodel's fault - who knows - they can all hide behind each other!

But the point is that I was out when the attempted delivery occurred. Card through the door was ticked to indicate that my signature or that of a neighbour was required. But absolutely no attempt was made to get a neighbour's signature. Such a small parcel - pathetic. Then I had to dial their costly 0800 number and go through a pile of crap to arrange re-delivery and then supposed to wait in all day!!!

Yeah, I'm with the others on Yodel drivers loving to just dump parcels in front of your door in plain sight.

Although they do seem to be getting slightly better, maybe compared to the past year or so.

Really had enough now my tracking number is telling me my parcel is in the yodel depot which it has been for days yay, but never quite gets to the fricking van can't speak to anyone human on a phone, how hard can it be just to deliver a parcel

Waited in all day yesterday after receiving email from Yodel with tracking number. Went on to their website using tracking number, chatted online with operator, left my phone numbers in case of any difficulty.
Waited till 17:30, still no delivery. Tried tracking number again and site would not recognise it. Played around with all Yodel options and eventually found back way into parcel tracking. the Log showed "15:01 Unable to locate, 17:09 Possible Delay, incomplete address, 17:09 returned to delivery depot"
Eventually I got onto online chat by using the set up a collection for my account, the operator there was unable to trace their tracking number which appeared to have been deleted from the system and demanded the YOL order number which I did not have (being the recipient). My address was not incomplete, it was exactly as per Royal Mail postcode locator result. No-one else has ever had any difficulty finding the house which is second house along main lane between two villages. The operator gave me 0844 453 7443 as customer service number. You speak the tracking number and they say "We do not recognise that number" after three times entering the correct tracking number, they still do not recognise it and cut you off with "Goodbye" and hang up. Not even possible to speak to a person. Tried the 0800 157 7777 number, which works, but still same menu as the 0844 number, three tries and cut off.
Completely and utterly useless trying to contact them. Total w*nkers!!!!!!

Two separate days we have waited for Yodel to appear .... still waiting. What a useless load of liars inside what appears to be a completely unethical company!!! Reading the comments it seems the company has a set plan. Say they went to the address, no-one about so left card, claiming people were not in to cover themselves... this is happening too often not to be a set course of action and way of making money (I am sure they charge the company who employed them for each call they never made)
WARNING: this is all lies. Reputable companies should not get 'into bed' with this lot who are a load of crap!

Got three cards that have missed a delivery from Yodel when there was someone home for all three 'attempts'. Called as OP suggested, entered 12345678 twice and then was put through to a human advisor. Finally! Have requested another delivery for tomorrow, but apparently not guaranteed to be accepted and may need to pick up from local service centre.

Thx OP. (didn't give em hell cos wasn't poor chap on end of phone's fault but did give em a bit of a British style under the breath grumble with some muttering).

Yes it has happened to me I spent two days at home waiting for Amazon delivery via Yodel, both days card put through letter box, we have a very loud bell not heard at all. 08001577777 then card 12345678 works you get a human being who apologises profusely hopefully parcel will get to me later today.

Waited in all day absolutely fumeing got text message saying they tried to deliver no answer what a blatant lie and where's the card then if they tried am so furious and I have tried contacting no joy this is not on people Rod

Ringing 08001577777 and using 1>1>12345678 a couple of times does work. I had a package tracked as being sent out, but no one in so card left. Lies. When the driver delivered it the next day, he said he was off yesterday, so other driver didn't know route. When I rang to inform yodel, operator said that same driver was onyesterday as today. What's worse, is parcel has a label on it saying "Leave in a Safe Place if Nobody Available".

Hey that was great had to try the 12345678 a few times but eventually got through

Yodel is crap, day one - received card, went online to re deliver to my parents address, no parcel came on day 2
Went online to see where the parcel was and the reference number, no longer exists!! Joke!!!

Eventually got cut off - flaming nightmare

parcel booked for pick up monday 7th july 14..having rebooked it each day .four days later its still not been picked up..I booked yodel because they were cheap.turns out ,there cheap because they dont do anything.lesson learned NEVER AGAIN.

I was in all day (Saturday). Parcel not delivered, no card left, customer services called at 2 15 pm, tried to give parcel number from Amazon, after 4 attempts the automated machine connected with another automated message which told me it had closed for the day.

Never left a card, no human contact with phone number. saying you can collect the parcel at Enfield service centre, when I contact the service centre they said they don't deal with Yodel's parcel

Phoned again and asked to deliver to a business address, but the machine didn't ask for my business address, how do they know where I work.

Worst experience with a courier company ever.

Thanks for this. Waited in all day "midday-9pm" as their text message suggested...nothing. Checked the Yodel website and it's been returned to the delivery centre.

My address is input on their system rather sloppily as, "98Acacia Ave 3 2" with the correct postcode (obviously not my real address, first part is the street address, second part is my flat number)...Maybe confusing to the driver, but the postcode supplied should confirm the address is correct.

Either that or they just couldn't be bothered delivering today? I'll have to get on the phone in the morning.

I had booked a parcel for collection from my sister in law who after much planning had to take a day off work. At 0816 hrs I had a confirmation email saying my parcel would be collected today before 1900hrs following this text I had an on line chat with "sarah" at 0820 hrs to see if I could get a more definite time as I felt bad asking my sister in law to wait in all day considering she was on a days leave. "Sarah" said no their policy was 0900 hrs - 1900 hrs and if parcel was to be left insurance wouldn't cover. At 1746hrs I received a text saying that collection had been attempted. I contacted Yodel again by on line chat this time with "Henry" who said that this was probably an automated text, to ignore as he had on his system that it was still up for collection and should be within the next hour. But alas no collection I contacted Yodel on line chat again, this time I got "Stephen" who was less use than either "sarah" or "Henry" gave me a link which took me to their homepage. Meanwhile my sister in law still has my parcel, has spent a day of her precious holidays indoors waiting and Yodel have £24 cost of parcel collection and delivery. Very frustrating........

Even if you do have a reference number put in 12345678 each time and you get to speak to a person after 3 tries. Much less hassle than any other method. Thanks for posting this!

two word .useless liars wouldnt take item as no box. they said would come the next day when i had a box and no-one came..total lies. did as above and fianlly got the being put through. now waiting for someone to pick up on other end.

I gave up on yodel had to get a refund. Used Hermes they were great didn't have to wait in all day you deliver parcel to your local store also they were half the price!!

On Tuesday 30/07/14 a Yodel delivery driver in an effort to make a delivery at a house directly opposite a junction swung hard left mounted the pavement and knocked my wife and I over, not only did he fail to notice what he had done his response was 1 deny responsibility, 2 claim he hadn't seen us 3 say he didn't mean to, 4 criticize my obvious anger 4 ask if I had ever driven a van 5 mumble sorry. As we were both shaken but unhurt the apology should have been his initial response, I've taken his reg and will let the police sort it out.

have been waiting for 6 weeks for Yodel to pick up parcel to be returned. I speak to company where parcel is to be returned to. nothing happens. still waiting.

Biggest pile of **** ever. .called two times and left card with no number on it. So I called the premium rate number to be told this must be because he is a self employed driver. They gave me his mobile to re arrange delivery. The phone was constantly on voice mail so I text him details asking him to call me that night. No response so I rang and left a voice mail the next morning stating same thing g..not to redeliver but to call me first to arrange redelivery er date. He still tried to deliver it that day and left card with no number on it. I called Saturday as my parcel stayed if had been sent back to the depot online after 3 unsuccessful delivery at temps. He answered the phone as was the rudest man ever stating it was not his fault and I should make sure I am in when I order goods to be delivered..He stated he didn't need to leave his number on the card..He just needs to attempt delivery three times and I was lucky he even answered the phone!!!

Awful, awful company, terrible experience, terrible cust service, utterly useless.

£82 package lost forever which could have been avoided if acted appropriately. Will no longer order off that supplier as they use yodel, shame.
