YODEL the home delivery network - any more disgruntled customers?

I know there are lot of people out there who have been walked over by YODEL (yodel.co.uk) myself included, but just thought I would mention that there is a campaign on twitter to try and get BBC Watchdog to give their shocking delivery service some primetime exposure in hope that it will force them to close or improve their borderline criminal delivery service.

They have been renamed from HDNL & and from what I can make out have recently taken on a contract with DHL to deliver a slice of their stuff too!

If you could share your experience of Yodel with @NotYodel and/or #Yodel on twitter and maybe include the @twitterUserName or #comanpanyName of who uses them to deliver their merchandise to you, the customer, we might get some momentum going and get someone to listen to the many thousands of unhappy Yodel customers.

Many thanks

It's sad, because it seems more and more companies are starting to use them, probably because they are cheap. Amazon have always delivered my stuff via Royal Mail, and it has always been spot on - no hearing reports that they are starting to filter stuff through to Yodel and already people complaining.

It's quite worrying.
#42
cheap doesn't always mean good, i know people who have had problems having stuff delivered/returned by them. Would rather pay the extra to use a decent company.

UPDATE:

e2Save, although very nice and apologetic, could have helped to sort this out sooner. Anyway, after more complaints to them today, they got in touch with Yodel and just as others state, fed them a load of horse sh*t about, no one was in (which they were) and the best one was apparently we've got an invisible gate at the bottom of our drive which only they can see and can't get past... ummmmm

So, e2save have said that the courier bloke has been ordered to bring it round at 3pm, and has also been told to phone us when he is on his way. They also so they are going to credit the phone with an extra £10 credit.

So, we'll have to see how that pans out. Sometimes a little offering from a company does help, but £10 phone credit isn't really going to help in this case, the ball-ache has gone beyond that unfortunately. Meanwhile, twitter continues to air a constant stream of messages from people still waiting for their stuff to be delivered.

glad to see your getting somewhere, did it come?

Aye, it came 3pm on the dot! Now, why can they do that when the shop gets in touch, but not in the 8 days before hand? He mumbled something about he's been on holiday for a week and someone was covering his round - whatever!!!! Dear god, just really insulting though all these porkies they tell.

All I can say is I hope they improve soon and I will be checking if a site uses Yodel before I order from them. They seem to be used by a lot of companies now so it might be hard avoiding them!?!?!

I would recommend you badger the company you ordered the product off, and not Yodel directly. They do not answer emails and they keep their depot phone numbers very well hidden. If you do get through, they will just lie to you and fob you off.

So, if the company you ordered off is active on twitter, tweet them as it is a public message and they will be more obliged to get on the case; also send them emails and phone calls if need be until they get on the blower to Yodel and give them a kick up the a*se -- this seems to be the only thing that works, and ultimately I suppose depends on how proactive your retailer is.
#46
my parcel update just says "out from depot" and has been like that for 24hrs now with no further update, i don't have high hope but any advice on what to say to them if it don't turn up tomorrow as they said it would.
#47
Our Yodel guy delivered a new contract phone to me several months ago at about 6pm ... in his work van (it seems he is a builder by day) with his two mates in the van. They had obviously had my phone kicking around in the van all day whilst on site and dropped it off on the way home. He's a nice enough guy, but still a bit of a joke.

Just as said in last post, don't phone them up, badger the hell out of the company you bought whatever it is you are waiting on from - 1 to 3 days late, fair enough, any more and I think it's the retailer's problem to either chase them up immediately, or send you another one out with Royal Mail or another courier. Just say you are disgusted and that you're 'not sure what else to do other than ask for a refund', that way you are not asking for a refund but making them ask questions of themselves and what they can do to solve it rather than just waiting and waiting for Yodel to pull their thumb out their ar*se.

And as said, post to them on twitter or facebook if they have one to make the issue viewable to the public as that should make them more motivated in fixing the issue.
#49
ah i didn't buy anything tho, i sold something and used their collect plus service, which makes it a lot more difficult, and they use are owned by the hdnl/yodel. I thought it would be fine as everyone seems to use them on here and lots of companies do, as well as ebay. But the whole thing has just left me never wanting to send a courier parcel again!
#50
I see, sorry mate, I'm not sure what to suggest! Maybe phone and say you want to claim the insurance for a lost parcel? might make them jump into action?
#51
Thing is its not lost, they still have it god know where, its the fact they are taking forever to post something to the next city, i would have been quicker to jump on megabus and post it myself lol.

But with other companies ive found if they don't deliver when they say they refund the postage, so im surprised, well im not really, that they haven't offer a refund for postage considering its double the 3-5 days and its not even delivered. I am worried the lack of tacking means they have lost it, in which case i will be **** because ive read they are slow to pay out and dont unless it can be proven its their fault.
#52
You should be entitled to claim the insurance on it if it is double over when it should have been delivered. They might still have it as their system is saying, but it's well over when it should have been delivered so phoning and claiming the insurance might make them do something about it, even if you don't really want to claim the insurance, you see.

Well I cant complain about my delivery as it was received, however the van driver smashing my gates and digging up my garden was disgusting. Thank goodness for CCTV!

Of course Yodel are not bothered, so I have posted my footage on YouTube...

Lol, spotted it on Twitter and @NotYodel this morning. I get the impression they are over stretched and the workers over worked and underpaid. In fact I seen a tweet this morning that all their sub-contractors (ie, the dudes who do it in their spare time etc) have just had to take a paycut.

I just can't see how much longer they can go on like this. They've already changed their name to try and cover up all the negative press they have had in the past, but they seem to think they can carry on with a cowboy service.

that driver just seems like a moron, but i hope you get comensation for it. My parcel finally got delivered today - which im happy about, just unhappy about the time took so i wont be using them again. Same with my herems, ordered something for next day delivery and no parcel today :-/
#56
Have a look at @NotYodel profile on twitter today. He has retweeted an absolute shed load of complaints against Yodel. It's getting worse, and worse, and worse. HAHA, now it's just funny to see how much longer these cowboys can continue to get away with it!!!

Madeinbeats, they took over DHL domestic work, so any work DHL had delivering in the uk, yodel do it now , probably about 6 months or more ago now.

Does that mean they have done away with the people who used to deliver DHL stuff in their own cars part time?

I honestly have no idea on that sorry. I would say not, as DHL domestic people, still have a job, just under the name of Yodel now.

Yodel attempted to deliver my parcel from Lakeland to my neighbour who wasnt in, although i was in! They put a card for me through my neighbours door, my neighbour gave me it the following morning. I went online but the parcel reference number was incorrect. Tried to phone numerous times, got cut off. Eventually got through and arranged for a redelivery for today, hasnt shown up. Tried to phone Yodel numerous times without success. Eventually telephoned Lakeland and asked them to deal with it as I was having no luck. Will wait and see what happens. I also got a message when i tried to phone them at 6.40pm saying "Our offices are now closed, we are open from 7 am until 8pm Monday to Friday!!!!! oO

no, they are still there, and most had to have a pay cut early last year, another cut in parcel rate last xmas, and talk of another again soon.

That explains a lot, basically they're all at the point now where they don't give a **** about your parcel or the company they work for.

Thanks for the reply mate. Apparently they now have an official Twitter channel: @YodelNews

I used to use hdnl via parcel2go, parcel2ship, parcelmonkey, i always had good service i must of been the one of the lucky ones as i tried to book a delivery via parcel2ship and parcelmonkey yesterday but the only option to choose from was parcel force and city link, which wasnt an option from me as i heard citylink are the worst and parcel-force are too expensive so i called them, and they said there not in business with hdnl anymore as they could not keep up with the service.

I ordered an item and three weeks ago received a card from Yodel saying they had tried to deliver bla bla. I went online and changed their next delivery attempt to the Friday as my husband off work - received email confirmation - but it never arrived that day. He called them up and they said it had been missed. Redelivery arranged for the Monday - my day off.............again it never arrived - but the next day we came home to another card from them!!

I called them up and gave a friends address as she is off on maternity leave and home during the day but 3 weeks on it still hasnt been delivered. Shocking service. Its a halogen oven we have bought for an elderly lady who cant bend down now to use her oven so it is quite urgent.

And yeah, DHL sold their UK delivery network to HDNL, who then renamed themselves to Yodel. I have no real problem with Yodel/HDNL either, but I get the impression they work differently to a traditional courier... all previous deliveries I have had from them were from people in cars or taxis. I'm not sure where the parcels end up when they fail to deliver them.

I've been told that Yodel drivers are self-employed. When they don't deliver a parcel it just ends up back at the "service centre" from where it started.

The unit opposite where I take my car to be serviced is an HDNL distribution point and while they don't go out of their way to be rough with the packages neither do they take a great deal of care with them.

I wouldn't use Yodel to deliver a package of mine (assuming I could persuade them to collect it - I gave up after three attempts) even if you paid me.

Just to let everyone know, there is now an official 'Twitition' filed against Yodel. You can sign it here http://twitition.com/x9amn

Please sign if you have had a poor service from Yodel.

That will not get many signatures and here's why:

This application will be able to:
Read Tweets from your timeline.
See who you follow, and follow new people.
Update your profile.
Post Tweets for you.

I'd sign in a heartbeat but there's no way I'm giving anyone that kind of access to my twitter account.

I'll have to take your word for it and take it you know more about twitter than me. Not been using it long myself, but you make Twitition sound pretty sinister !!

It might be perfectly innocent, but the fact it wants the ability to change my profile and to make tweets on my account sounds pretty dodgy/unnecessary to me. I mean would you let someone make posts on here in your name and tinker about with your profile?

well it looks like yodel could do with some new van drivers to me ime lookin for a van drivin job ive got 30 years class 1 drivin under my belt 15 years of wich on parcelsso bring it on

There have now been a couple of companies who have dropped Yodel because of complaints helped by twitter. We just need one of the bigger companies like O2 to drop them to really make them think about pulling their thumb out of their arze!

I got a electrical item delivered from PC World. Yodel was the courier and I was shocked with who delivered it.

It was basically a teenage boy, in a banged up car, with a bunch of packages in the backseat of his car. He gave me both items, and just walked away. Shocking.
#75
I Orded my phone yesterday and i paid £10 Pound for it to be delivered today and i looked at the tracking and i went out at 1.00pm and come back at 1.30pm and it says Unable to gain timely access 19/11/11 13:17 MANCHESTER SERVICE CENTRE it come inbetween that time and left no note and they didnt leave it with a neighbour :O
#76
Went with Yodel using Despatch Bay in early summer.
In five months, I have had 10 damages and one item go missing. They don't give a s*** about the items in their care, the damage being consistent with items being thrown in and out of vans despite the items being covered in Fragile tape.

Yodel use a 'man with van' to deliver there parcels. I have had no end of problem with no shows when they were due to collect parcels, failing to deliver parcels and blatantly lying saying they have been and left cards.

I dropped a parcel off at Leeds depot and Police were in attendance and the guy behind counter told me they had a big problem with thefts. Lo and behold, the item I dropped off subsequently went missing.

I now have numerous claims on the go for the damage and one for the stolen item. Three are over four months old and not seen one penny

Organised criminals - go with them at your peril!!!!!!!
