I have four children at home...

I work full time also, as does my husband.

Neither of us really get "you time". Just doesn't happen. There's always something to fix or to see to or to clean etc.
#3
Are your senses heightened being legally blind? If so, does that account for the 6 kids?
I can see why books are a better option. :)

Time disappears far to quickly - it is already March on Sunday!!!

To be "legally blind" you have to have a certain amount of visual loss......so partially sighted people can also be "legally" blind.
The OP may have meant registered.
#10
Can you not arrange for someone to help out and take the kids for an hour or two once a week? Perhaps you could go for a swim and sauna in that time if you like that sort of thing?

Pretty much agree but I think you can make it happen. I only have two children both of whom are now in their late twenties - but I remember that there is limited 'you time' unless you get organised!! I used to work full time as a teacher, do all the preparation etc etc. I think that the best way is to have a routine so I used to do Tai Chi at set times; Kids did swimming etc so I would do reading and so on.

Mines from 530pm to 9/10am......i have tea, watch tv, chat on internet, buy lots of random stuff we don't need, book holidays without telling the hubby, order yet another tesco delivery, just so the delivery man is someone to talk too, wash the pots, dust and hoover then go to bed....exciting..not!

Im not oversexed honest i have 5 birth children and 2 i have custody of from **** parent who couldnt cope. One is left home and family of own, which leaves 6 at home.
Ive tried the bath one that really dont work in this house. Youd be amazed at how many times they want loo, just cos moms in there.
I used to make jewellery when i had good sight but ive tried since and just lose me temper.
Swimming sounds good though.

used to be when my kids go to their Dad's, my eldest no longer goes due to footie commitments and the other 2 rarely go now so my time is gym sessions after work, my favourite part being the sauna....my reward for all the sweating and swimming.......lush :)

do you use text to speech? I think opera has one built in.. and if you have a microphone then you can highlight the text and say "opera speak" and it will read it out...

how do you cope with spelling mistakes or slang?

all the best with the cornea graft

My eldest is pretty much self regulating now, so as long as I feed him, wash his clothes etc, clean up after him, he's sorted ( yes, I'm a mug! )The middle two are girls, 15 and 11. My 15yr old is lost in a sea of her own self-importance and superiority. Her little world rarely includes me. She is all friends friends friends. But even so, I'm still running round making sure she's healthy and happy and properly behaving has new clothes etc, all she needs for school, you know the drill. My 11 yr old is often still really helpful and sweet. She'll plan out things to help me in my work. But she also has her own social life and often we are unpaid taxi service for her and their friends. Both the girls love drama and theatre and go to drama school and the arts outside of normal school activities. Our youngest is three so he's still 24/7 care.

Even with planning its still very rare we get "me" time.. even "couple" time is a premium.

It doesn't help that I'm self employed and work from home, any day starts around 7am to 9pm. Often I work saturdays too. It's long hours and intensive, but it also gives me the independence to be there for the kids when they need me the most. So, I wouldnt change any of it x x

you havent mentioned how old the children are so assuming they are young, do you not have a partner that can take over for an hour in the evening or a family member, if not im sure as already said you maybe able to get some kind of help to give you a little time out

errrm how do you read this, gawd now i sound real ignorant - sorry

text to speech. The spelling mistake you can usually guess at cos the sentence sort of makes sense of it if ya get me.

Yeah I think we all have to try and make sense of some of the things people write on here!

So did you memorise the layout of your keyboard before your sight began to deteriorate? Or do you have a custom keyboard?

sorry if I am asking questions that you do not wish to answer.

awww thats so sweet.

I wonder whether there is any access to any form of respite care there though? Even if it was just for a couple hours a week, someone to come round and help with the kids or the washing etc?

thank you sassie no im in leicester.
My keyboard. Before my sight diminished completely i had a brill large letter one. But didnt need to really cos i was quite good at typing at school so you tend to know the keys then. But i tried for months to find the pound sign. Then dh said i didnt have one on keyboard. He found that quite funny.
I have had some major laughs over the years because of it. You have to laugh it keep you going.
like the person who said to me. 'I was waving at you to cross the road, didnt you see me' erm erm.
And those that say 'have you seen that' even dh does that

there was one time when i worked in a supermarket where i was helping a blind guy do his shopping... I was impressed that he knew exactly where to go and what he wanted... and then he wanted a particular type of cheese and i was looking all over the place for it and then I stupidly saud "do you know what it looks like?" felt so stupid for the rest of the day!
