Your Favourite Final Fantasy?

Im looking to get into the Final Fantasy series. Having read reviews for XIII, they seem very mixed. Obviously graphics are going to be great, but i would prefer a Final Fantasy with the best gameplay. I have a PS2 and was looking at Final Fantasy X as a starting point as this seems to be the best reviewed and highly praised Final Fantasy to date.

Any comments on your favourite Final Fantasy? graphics a-side ofcourse

=)

lol, its prob the most expensive now too

10 suits the modern gamer, most people who played FF games pre 10 prefer those sorts, 10 changed a lot i.e no more world maps and heavily cut scene driven whereas the older ones did have loads of text but were big to explore too.

lol. Yeah, they all seem pretty rare now.

Nothing beats a bit of classic gaming though .
most modern games i complete in 6-10 hours, not exactly great value for money

I have had pretty much every console since the SNES and have NEVER played a FF game. Is it too late to start now?

I always thought they looked too nerdy and dull.

No way, you will love it, if you can deal with the turn based battles

it is, i bought it. far cheaper than the discs. i bought it on release originally, and sold it after completing. bought again a few years after but discs got ruined. its fairly safe now stored on my ps3, was also able to transfer it onto my sons psp for him to enjoy.

yeah, if you have a ps3, get it from the PS store, 6-10 hours? lol. it takes double that for the first disc alone, and thats if you dont potter about.

ff7 is awesome the storyline is great my fav is 8 tho its one classic

don't go for X its ok but the first FF game i've not wanted to complete! sad times i know

FF7 mini game is awesome but blitzball in 8 is blooming great!

FF9 is a good back to FF roots for the series

Oh and you can get FF7 and 8 on the psp its brill i've relived my mis-spent youth :D

its a great series to get into like i said welcome to no social life for a while :D

I honestly dont think there will ever be a better game than VII clocked at least 120 hours and loved everything about it
#17
Cool.

Definetly get 7/8 on PSN store.

Anyway played the new game (13?)
#18
lol the only game that i clocked WAAYY over 200 hours (which includes playing it over again 3 times at least) is FF7.

Funny, thought there would b more "ff8 is no.1" here.

FF8 wasn't great (I never completed it, after saving over my game that was on disc 3 about to enter Ultimecias castle... >.< never played it again). 9 was better (than 8) but 7 was the best.

just bought VII on PSN store.

7 and 8 are both £7.99 i think.

7 is a 1326mb download. wow. Most of the classic nintendo games i bought on the wii were like 10mb or something lol

FF7 by far, best game I have ever played. Everything about it was class.

FF8 was also great, always remember the intro scene and the dance scene. However never completed. I didn't like the new layout tho, have to draw materia etc..

VIII was my fave, followed by VII then X. X-2 was a good game too once ya got past the "my God, its a girls FF game"

VII i completed everythin there was to do except kill Ruby Weapon (the red ****** by the Gold Saucer) i could never defeat it no matter what i done. Replaying thru 8 now tho i have to start again as i forgot to draw Siren out of Eloret or whatever it was called.

Also playin XIII atm and only about 3 hours into it. As was posted above its visuals are stunning. Likin the gameplay so far tho not too keen on the main male protagonist Snow, he seems a bit of a "8928" (use the numbered keypad n figure it out for yaself).
Heres hopin i continue to be impressed by it

EDIT: Blitzball was in FFX not VIII as someone else stated above.
