Sold to HMV.

what the entire company? i knew a few shops were bought by HMV.
#3
No, I think the acquired another 6ish stores.

Can't remember where they are.

I reckon the owners of Zavvi are looking to open a new chain...

One of the staff at HMV was told they had to reapply for there jobs with the zavvi staff when they move to their store. So unless that was a condition of the taking of the shop it leads me to believe that they have/will merge.

oh HMV really?

I want to know when I will get my vouchers refund back

Thats what I was thinking! Surely they cant trade under the same name without honouring vouchers and credit notes!

I dont believe it Zavvi.co.uk is back and with their same higher than usual prices.
Their website now has the same look and search functions as The hut or asda.com, so im guessing zavvi.co.uk is owned by the same people.

I agree, looks like they'll still be struggling for sales judging by their games prices today.

Taken from Retail Week:

Zavvi website relaunched as rights sold by administrator

E-tailer TheHut has relaunched the Zavvi website

Zavvi's website has been relaunched today and is selling sportswear, lingerie and fashion products alongside the entertainment items traditionally associated with the now defunct retailer.

E-tailer TheHut bought the rights for the website from administrator Ernst & Young, as well as buying the million-plus database.

Zavvi collapsed into administration in December after struggling when its main supplier, Woolworths-owned EUK, hit the buffers the previous month.

Its former boss Simon Douglas bought seven stores out of administration last month and is rebranding them Head.

Last week Retail Week revealed all stores were taken on short-term leases, raising questions over its long-term plans.

It is understood TheHut subsidiary Fourphill will run the website. TheHut could not be reached for comment.

seems strange, but depends how much they paid.....if the million plus database is to be believed then that it worth alot to a company (rather than hit and miss cold calling, or pay up to £2.50 a contact)...having said that im surprised theyve relaunch the website as whilst it was brand, i wouldnt say its strong and now its tarnished

All you people that have vouchers are ****ed. I am a ex-employee of Zavvi. If you brought them after the 21st of November and have sent them off then you are most likely going to get all your money back.

IF you got them before the above date then your going to get jack ****. Blame Ernst & Young, they are a bunch of [email protected] ! I'm still waiting for my P45 to come through from them. They didn't give any of the stores notice when they were going to close just sent a massive delivery of boxes!

And just because they are trading under the same name yes of course they can refuse those gift cards. They didn't buy the debt as well (gift card = debt). And the Zavvi website still got loads of hits during the administration period with people asking why they couldn't buy stuff. I was talking to the ex-manager of the website when it was actually Zavvi not the hut, and he said there was still massive interest.

Gift Cards aside, I think we delivered great customer service in comparison to HMV, especially in our store. And people bitch about some high prices, but guess what HMV has some high prices too its like for like tbh just different products. E.G Oasis Stop The Clocks £17.99 HMV, was £7.00 in Zavvi. So hey ho!

Definitely run by The Hut but just as sh*te as ever. They sent me a £5 off anything voucher as a 'welcome.' The T&C's clearly state it is £5 off ANYTHING, and that if the item is under £5 you'll lose the difference. Only trouble is, it won't bl**dy work! Keeps saying a promotion has already been applied to my basket and won't reduce the price. Tried using their stupid message service, and they haven't replied. Surprise surprise. :x
