Seems pretty good, but apparently does not have GPS (only fitted on the 3G version I hear, not this one).

Correct. According to the Lenovo website the 3G version comes with GPS and Compass but the non-3G version has to do without both.

Very decent price for a full size and a well equipped tablet.

Fantastic phone for the price, managed to get my dad one from Tesco for £55 with vouchers.
It cost £2.03 to have it unlocked from eBay and flashed it with stock retail firmware with no need to unlock the boot loader, having played with it I'd have been more than happy had it cost full price plus it will be getting the upgrade to Android 4.4 Kit-Kat in January.

Where did you download the stock rom from... do you have a link ?

Download links and instructions here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
I used this one from eBay for £1.99.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221326995328?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I had the unlock code via email within a couple of hours and it worked perfectly :)
£2 to unlock??? Link pleaseeeee

I don't think this deal works anymore, looks like curry's have put the price up to 299 so JL won't sell theirs for 269.. Someone please correct me if i am wrong as i'm quite keen but don't want to spend 299..

Just thought, what internet security do you have on your Samsung tablet?
None what so ever, don't think it's needed for an Android device.
But as it is a security concern, don't just take my word for it, do your own research.
I thought that. Will have a think. I have Lookout on my phone so may put that on it.
I don't have anything in terms of anitvirus or internet security on my phones either. And I do use them a lot.
I would say you don't need any. But if you find a reason why I should, please let me know.
Just found this article anti virus and internet security for android tablets/phones
You seem to have your opinion made up.
For me, the article just shows you don't need one. As the expert said, apps are sandboxed from each other, and linux is very secure.
And my tablet is not rooted.
There are two vulnerabilities mixed together in the article, one in iOS, and one in Flash. Well, apple should fix that vulnerability, and flash is already pulled off from all devices, if not, Adobe should release a fix.
I have an ipda, the note 10.1 and android phones. Not running "internet security" on any. In fact, I am not running one on my pc either. I might put an aitivirus on, but that is it, I carefully reject any Norton Internet Security crap that has a long established history of creating more problems than solving.
I agree with you about the Norton Internet Security as it slowed down previous laptops, but just use Microsoft Essentials now which is free and doesn't slow the system down. Might just get Lookout on 10.1 for piece of mind for myself.

Fantastic for plane spotting. Not so sure about the iOS version, but on Android the Pro version features are definitely worth it (without the pro version you cannot see anything but basic info about each aircraft... no good for the (wannabe) spotter ;) )
I have this app...its brilliant. On a recent trip to turkey, I knew our flight was going to be delayed before even leaving the hotel as I could see that the plane we would be getting on hadn't even made it across the english channel, yet alone almost at Turkey...and no announcement was made on the website or even at the airport when we got there.

Must have for frequent travellers or plane spotters like my OH :-)
Great app - I have it for keeping track of my sisters flights in America when she is going or coming home from uni and then I can keep her up to date on delays etc as soon as she arrives.
Top spot. Been after something like this for ages.
nice one

Hi All,

I went into Currys and asked them to price match CPW. They has the tablet for £119 in currys and £79 on CPW. So they price matched the difference making the tablet £75.

I have an AMEX card and had an offer for £10off and £50 spend and it applied to this purchase making the tablet £65.

Hope this helps.

I picked up the Kurio 7S in Amazon's black Friday deals for £45. Was amazed at the discount. Its a very capable tablet at that price compared to an innotab (what my son has already). I have already loaded Amazon's app store onto the Kurio and used my Amazon account to get the free apps onto the Kurio. I would imagine the 10S is a step up from the 7S spec wise

Can 2 of these be used in range of each other?
Was thinking of getting one each for niece and nephew, bedrooms next to each other, so would they just end up connecting to both speakers or only connect to their own!?
No they wouldn't connect to one another, it would go to their individual speakers
herodave
I have one of these, the sound quality is terrible and there is a mains hum audible on quiet tracks. The wireless connectivity works well though.
After using mine yesterday I can say that considering the price it is brilliant. I wasn't expecting an amazing device for £26.30 but for the price its fab and no hum audible on mine :-/

Agreed with Annp1. Try TF2, its awesome and seeing as its free if you do find you don't enjoy it then you haven't lost anything.

Its one of the few games I never get fed up of
Rhoobarb
techpops
boughted and downloadering. I feel like when you guys recommend something, I know it's going to be good. I have such big gaps in my game knowledge. I start to feel like I'm catching up and yeah, I pretty much know the games that are out now then a new set comes along I've never heard of. ha

lol, I feel exactly the same, I have some whopping gaps in my gaming knowledge too.

Anything that is purely online multiplayer focused and I'm floundering. My first online gaming forays in the late 90's involved a 28k modem and people hacking every game I played, (it was no fun playing Jedi Knight against people that could wield 6 light sabres, while shooting a rapid fire blaster that shoots 6 grenades at a time!) it left a very bitter taste in my mouth, especially considering the cost of having internet back then. So I just played single player, until this last year that is.

I have never played a MMORPG or DOTA or TF2 as I just don't have the time to invest in them. So when I hear talk of keys and hats it goes right over my head.

These bundles do my collecting OCD no good :D

OT, but how did you find Mass Effect?

I'd honestly give TF2 a go, it comes with a tutorial mode now, and there's special 'newbie' servers pit there so you don't have to feel intimidated, and tho there's nine classes, picking something like heavy or soldier is pretty simple, just aim anyone not your colour, (you'll be on red or blue), and hold down fire :D Then move onto medic and learn how to protect others and use the shield power they have, and by then you'll either hate it, or want to learn of the other classes!
Just bought, I've been really struggling to find something to buy a friend of mine, cos he's doing alright and I'm a pauper, and $5 to these guys means I can send him some games for his android device, something I know he hasn't really started getting into yet :)

I did not think this low price would last for long, well done everyone who got an order in as this was a steal of a price for what you get.
Good deal.

In my opinion preferable to Norton or McAfee too. Less intrusive and gimmicky.

EDIT: Whoopsie. It shows as £59.99 now, at least for me.

This looks very interesting. Love card games! Well starting to anyway. I've only got a 1280x800 screen, is that enough to play this? It looks like it needs major resolution to see the cards. Like a big 10" high resolution Nexus 10 or something like that.

eh ....... no.

Were all entitled to our opinions, mine is based upon observations, yours is based on..... ?

Most of the cheap tablets (and/or Android TV sticks) I have seen recently come with 1.2Ghz or better dual core CPU, 1GB RAM, 4 or even 8GB storage, in the case of tablets, they come with screen, battery and charger (they may have lack of some connectors but its not a 1 for 1 comparison) for the same sort of money, so based on technology standpoint, these are expensive for what you get.

Regards
Flea

These boards are designed for small server application use. Hence the inclusion of a SATA port for example, distinguishes it from your suggestions.

Furthermore there is better Linux support for these types of devices compared to those you suggested.

Hope that helps.

xbmc works great on many android devices. I never use xbmc on laptop anymore. Unfortunately sky blocks miracast but netflix works fine. Guess if sky allowed miracast then no one would buy multi room package any more hence the block.

I'm using a Moto G but can't seem to get everything onto the same screen.

worth noticinig.. "2014 free minutes in 2014. That’s 168 minutes a month, every month, when you top up £10."
if you choose Dolphin plan then "400 free texts, plus 1GB data" along with free minutes for £10 a month..
Also if you accumulate over £50 in spare credit from topping up every month once you hit £50 use the credit to buy the Ready 50 deal.
It credits £10 into your account for 6 months, that means you can get 11 months of 168 minutes, 400 texts and 1gb of data for £50.
According to money supermarket you can continue rolling it over infinitely (until they withdraw the deal).

After looking round for a cheap jelly bean android phone I purchased this for my daughter. 4.1 and above is required for bbm and this is the only model around this price that'll do this.
hot for the phone cold for the network.

Cold, doesn't support Gingerbread (and before anyone says it yes I could root/install a custom rom if I wanted).
Can I use this on ios
Some people don't have the time to set their own layout, so this is a quick and easy way for them to personalise their handset. MIUI ROMS have been doing this for years - now, this kind of theme and skinning engine is available to most Android phones. Good for them, right?

If this deal is not relevant to anyone, don't visit it! Most users on HUKD (or any forum) do this.

Don't get annoyed...
Don't use Themer, it's dreadful. Just use Apex/Nova and do it yourself. Why is this even posted at all.
Are we really doing this? Posting free apps? Yes it fits into the freebie category, but it's not even an offer. You may aswell post the Top Free Apps list while you're at it.

Will this let you disable the lock screen when you're at home - i.e. so that the lockscreen is only enabled when you go out?
When I was running Ice Cream Sandwich on my Evo 3D, I used to use a very good app for that, BTwifi unlocker, which if you had blutooth in your car could also unlock your phone. However since I got my nexus 4 and it was running Jelly Bean 4.3, I've had to make do with using tasker to do the same but it is no way near as good at it.

I've just looked again and BTWiFi Unlocker is now available on 4.3 and 4.4, happy days :)
Looks nice. You should also try lockerpro if you like notifications on your lockscreen
For the first 24 hours I thought this was the bee's knees, but then a host of annoyances cropped up, which is to be expected I guess for something in beta.

It doesn't fully incorporate the full-transparency feature in Android 4.4.x.
PIN/pattern lock seems very hit and miss.
Lock screen music control seems flaky.
Limited customisation.
Has a tendency to keep sensors running for longer than necessary and eats batteries.

Biggest bug bear, however, is the inability to set the apps in the order I like, rather than let Cover dictate what it thinks I use and in certain contexts.

So Cover is good, but not brilliant. Yet.

Not a deal?

No it's a freebie .. that's why it's in the freebie section

Not really a 'freebie' though is it. Its a companion app to a game that was released 2 months ago and was always free. I always thought this section was for things that were paid items that you can get for free.

You thought wrong ... generally this is a good place to post things that are free, hence the category name. Others find it helpful if people post things they were not aware of.

I for one was not aware of this app and I'm currently downloading it - cheers OP

I have to turn tablet off and on again. Very strange

I would buy the iPad mini for this price , unless you are really into android

Depends what you want, but even a refurb iPad mini 32Gb is £269 (assuming it was in stock), so it's all about value for money. You'd have to buy the retina iPad mini 32Gb for a better spec and similar storage, but at £399, that's in a whole different price bracket.

Indeed!
I got the 2013 model from john Lewis for £130 about a month ago. Think it may have been a mistake though but a few people managed to get one.

wasn't this £169/179 recently on Play.com/Pixamania?

No, it's £269 on Play.com - you are confusing this with the old (2012) lower spec model that runs Android 4.1.

I am sure it was the new 2013 model.
It was a DOTD special, USA model but with adapter included.

I'm sorry I missed that then. Currently they want £270 for this model at Pixmania.

If you can find it cheaper, currently, anywhere else by all means post it - this is the kind of contest I'd gladly loose.

It was posted on here but the Mods deleted it because Pixamania does not have enough feedback on Play.com.

Not worth it, too many microtransactions (optional). Even if you don't want to get any extras, your prompted frequently.

Also Gameloft make shoddy rubbish for the most part. Avoid.

Edit: It also (Like all GL games, takes up a stupid amount of storage [1-2gb]) which is ridiculous for a mobile game - apart from the likes of Vice City
