I'm not sure why its been voted cold. I've searched around the net, and the next best price is £24.99 from Amazon.

If the cold voters would leave a reason, as to why they vote cold? Can they find it cheaper? if yes, vote cold and leave a link to where its cheaper. If they don't have a use for it, then just don't vote.

Has anyone bought one and got the map updated yet?
I bought the 510 from Argos eBay and hopefully it should arrive tomorrow. Will let you know as soon as.

Just received my 510 and from what I can make out it does has Lifetime World Maps and Lifetime Speed Camera Updates!! It came in a generic brown box with USB charger, USB Cable and Mount.

So, I'm presuming it'll be the same for the 610 as well (The 610 must be massive as the 510, I feel, is plenty big enough).

I would keep your money and save it for a better one like "chubb" as these cheap safe's are so easy to get into!
And your insurance companies are more likely to favour a more recognisable brand.
I wouldn`t tell my insurance company anything as they only use it as an excuse not to pay out.
Can you link to a better one that you recommend
http://www.chubbsafes.com/select-your-safe
If your going for one just remember the heavier it is the less likely they are to carry it off and don't go for the ones with the digital keys they are easily hacked or even the batteries in them die!
Sorry guys at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Yes, and the low resolution sucks. And it lacks a touch screen, and an SSD. Honestly, I would avoid this like the plague.

could you send us the link for the SSD, touch screen and decent graphics card laptop package for £149 as i have been looking everywhere
It all depends on what you want to use it for. For browsing, email, Office and streaming television it should be fine.
It is clearly not for "gaming".

It's like phone test.... iphone 6 -v- Samsung Galaxy S6 -v- $50 Chinese phone with poor processor and RAM.
Go to a random website and see which phone loads quickest. Answer. All about the same. In my house the Chinese phone won. It is the internet speed more than anything else in activities that do not need much processing power (and may be reaction time in the test).

It's like using a Lamborghini on a school run. There is no real speed advantage.

For travel a 11.6" model is more portable (but the screen for me is too small for prolonged use).

I already had a concrete base. It was straight forward to put up, did it in a day on my own.
Wouldn't recommend, mine was a nightmare to put together as quite a lot of the panels were not cut straight.

Anyone know one with a 0.5 grade?
I'm getting too bald for a 1 :'(
Most (if not all) clippers without a guard / guide will cut up to around 0.5mm.
So, would be worth trying your current clipper on its own.
I think only a 'balding clipper' goes any closer, giving an almost shaved look without a guard / guide.
Videos on youtube about "Zero-gap" Wahl clippers, not tried myself but look easy enough
Be careful with any Whals that have a side adjuster if you do this, moving the blades on the cheaper ones (like this) will end up with cuts, the blades are never straight on this type due to the side adjuster.
Or worse if you're like me, will never get the damn blades back in place as I found out yesterday

Corded clippers are more consistent and self lubricating blades snag less and don't need oiling. They are usually ceramic coated.

I could do with some recommendations, boyf seems to kill off his clippers, read bad things about Remington though. A few have good things to say about the Pro Wahls.
Get Wahl Super Taper, will cost extra £30 but they're that much better. These clippers feel cheap [they're £13] and do heat up after 5 minutes.
Thanks, might recommend them to him if he kills these 100s quickly (not sure what he does with them but they never seem to last!).

brilly sorry you don't know the market. Sony is declining massively in the DSLR style market. Sub 2% and declining compared to Canons 50%+ n its home market.
Other comments:-
Very few DSLR releases.
No high end pro models released in last few years.
Limited third party accessories and lenses compared to Canikon.
Largely unused by another other than a few new amateurs and a die hard bunch that includes me.
Sony is concentrating on mirror less cameras where it dominates.
I would suggest OP thinks about what pictures he/she is likely to take and heeds my advice above to avoid wasting money.
oooh sorry super expert you really know the market, all of what you said has precisely zero relevance to the OP
they may not even get new lenses etc, so this gives them a solid setup at a cheap price
pro releases? irrelevant to op
3rd party accessories and lenses? what does the op want thats not already there?
you bang on about emount... last aps-c emount lens release from sony? 3+ years ago
if you go emount then you make do with whats there or pay for fullframe lenses - again irrelevant to the op though ofc
a6300 - almost a grand, previous relevant releases? over 2 years old... so older than the new A mount cameras
thanks for your expert opinion on your forced idea of what the op needs though

op, not saying buy this - just saying dont listen to nonsense rants copied from others

Edited By: brilly on Sep 09, 2016 16:16
and before we gt into a stupid argument DSLR, skt etc let's just call them Sony A mount cameras. Going the way of the Betamax. Go Sony E mount instead.
http://www.dynaxdigital.com/slt-cameras-sony-alpha-55-a33-a77-discussion/newbie-info-on-a-mount-25036/

already pulled A mount out of New Zealand. If the E mount continues to do as well ad it is, expect Sony to ditch DSLR style cameras within 12 months.

I've got the WMB91233LW, not sure of the difference between mine and this one, mine's also 9KG/1200RPM. I've had it 3 or 4 months. Seems OK to me, I wish it played a tune when it had finished though like my Beko tumble dryer does, as I often put the washing on and go out and the tune is a good reminder, it doesn't have this feature, but I guess I can live without it.
Just put your tumble drier on at the same time as the washing machine then.
Yeah that makes perfect sense, I wouldn't have anything to dry as it would all be in the washing machine
But at least you'd know when your washing has finished. I'm just trying to solve you're lack of finishing tune problem.

I think the suggestion to put a timer on my phone is a good one, although it's possible to forget. It's a shame they didn't implement the tune in to the washing machine like the tumble dryer. You can't fail to notice then as the tune plays every 30secs-1minute.

Camera snobs. This isn't the bridge I would choose but the vast majority of people that want decent cameras aren't ones that wish to have full bodied SLRs, pay the price for them or lug all the crap about you need to get varied shots.

I'm not a camera snob, im fully aware that a lot of people dont want an overcomplicated camera and just want something a bit better than their phone, and that's absolutely fine. I just don't like brands shoving point & shoot internals into arbitrarily large bodies just to make them look more pro to beginners without any tangible benefits beyond ergonomics. I literally ran into this problem last month when a member of family wanted to buy his girlfriend a camera to get better quality shots for her makeup business. He ended up dropping over £300 on a bridge which was solely differentiated from a £100 P&s by its 50x zoom, but he chose it because of the way it was marketed by Canon and because it looked like my old SLR. I'm not saying people should only buy expensive cameras, I'm saying people shouldn't buy what is essentially a bog standard compact with a jacked up price tag simply because it looks like your cousin Harry's cool DSLR.

indeed, cheaper on amazon now!

IMO - Not really, and I think it's telling that you mention a "Travel Compact" as a "Bridge Camera".
The segment is dead and has been replaced by "Travel Compacts". There are no new models and heavy discounting.

Are you replying to the wrong person maybe? I haven't mentioned travel compacts.
I'm a massive Canon fan.....but this is not one of their better efforts

For a camera which is relatively new camera....first released only 8 months ago....the fact that it is being so heavily discounted should tell you a great deal....

It really is basically a compact with a long zoom lens (and a slow one at that....f3.5 - f6.6)

It lacks most of the SLR features that Bridge camera users should be expecting.....there is no option to add an external flash to boost the poor built in one's range.....the deal breaker will any bridge camera for me would have to be the lack of a viewfinder....making using in bright light difficult & the lcd screen on this one is not articulated & at 230dpi is very low resolution...

Not offering 1080p video on a 2016 model is also truly unforgivable

Hello. This is from the T&C:

thanks, sorry I should say it more clear
I mean I order it online and pay for it but collect in store, would such qualify? thanks in advance
One would think so. As long as you are showing the proof of paying 50 quid and not returning any items afterwards.
Sorry for the delay, but I check Hotukdeals only a couple of times per day.

Has anyone who has got one of these checked if you can playback video or view pictures, etc from USB or MicroSD? The 2015 black box had the slots but there was no software to use them without sideloading, and obviously everyone prefers Plex sideloaded. Multiple written reviews of this box suggest it supports playback of content from the USB and MicroSD slots, but doesn't support using them for additional recording storage, but a video review I am watching right now says that they are non-functional slots.
Sideloaded the USB player and was able to play some stuff back but it took forever to catalogue the items on the drive so it's not really usable either way. Ended up plugging the hard drive into my ageing 2012 LG TV and that works much better

So only works with the app sideloaded, no software built in to play content then. Stupid review sites, I reckon they never even tried it and just assumed that they wouldn't be there without the ability to playback content out of the box then.

The reviews of using this as a replacement free view option are terrible with the lack of decent remote and proper TV guide. Also the free view picture quality is better through the tv directly according to some

If your telly already has Freeview HD there's not much point in buying this over the cheaper older black one. have no personal complaints over the picture quality and with regards to the remote and interface - could be more intuitive but on the forums they've stayed a plan for continuous improvement.

Afterthought. Can this be true? A guy who fitted aerials as his job said our tv could be like this because the signal could be too strong?
Yes, he's absolutely right....but it's only normally an issue for people who are close to the transmitter and use high gain aerials. Have a look online and find out the distance to yours. There is no 'range' where you can simply say that you'll have a strong signal though, as there are too many factors involved (transmit power, your aerial, cables, device, weather and so on), but if you find you're within a couple of KM and show the symptoms (check the link below) then it's worth testing for.
Here is some more info on it: https://ukfree.tv/article/1107051892/Freeview_signals_too_much_of_a_good_thing_is_bad_f
Funnily enough, that link has this exact booster in it and warns people of the lack of results with boosters like that :3
The short version is that your signal strength should be about 75%, with the quality as high as possible.
It's easy to test, just grab a 'adjustable attenuator' like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aerial-Coaxial-Cable-Variable-Attenuator/dp/B007A0S8L6
Loads of places will sell one, that's just the first I found through a quick search that has good reviews. Get a variable one, not a fixed one. That way you can adjust it and see if it improves or not.

Bit boozy again! Thanks again. Now that brought back memories! I bought one variable and I think one fixed 10db . I can't remember what happened with the 10db - likely not much as I'd have remembered if it acted. The variable one did nothing either - but it was cheap.
Spod
So you use a signal booster, but can't understand why a booster would work better than what is inside your TV?

It works better because it is in the loft. Cables do not generate noise they attenuate the signal (lose about 1/2 the signal in 100ft of cable). The smaller signal makes the noise from the amplifier more significant and having more signal than noise is what is important not how big the signal is.

cheers op and other contributors above, lots of useful information :)
Solly92
Cold because this isn't likely to improve anything. Why would what is in this box work better than what is inside your TV?

Solly92
I have a 'signal booster'. It is in the loft where it minimizes loss in the antenna cable and provides enough output to split and feed cables to two rooms.

So you use a signal booster, but can't understand why a booster would work better than what is inside your TV?

It's essentially the same thing, except you are amplifying the signal at the aerial rather than at the TV socket! The only difference is the potential of noise generated within the co-ax cable between the aerial and the TV, which would be amplified by the Argos booster.

Solly92
The problem is not just the 'size' of the signal but also the size of the noise and boosters boost both and add some more noise of their own. If not well designed they can also be badly affected by other strong radio signals.

A digital tuner has a critical "threshold". If the signal is below this level, the tuner will not "see" it. So an amplifier might help if you can boost the signal above that threshold. Yes, you are also boosting the noise, which might reduce the effect of the amplification if the noise is bad, but if your co-ax cable is good and there isn't excessive radio interference it might just be good enough. Of course, it is most likely to work if you were close to the threshold anyway. And if you can get above the threshold the picture should be perfect. It's not like an analogue signal where noise makes the picture fuzzy.

Yes, putting a booster by the aerial is a better solution, but it doesn't mean that this won't work for anybody. I've found these sorts of boxes to be very effective where I live and at 5 quid it's worth a try if you've got signal problems - especially as you can return it if it doesn't work.

This made my Internet worser

A device as such would be slower for those connecting to the network using it.

This is due to the fact the same radio is used to accept incoming and outgoing packets from clients as it does to forward those packets on to the next wifi router and accept replies.

So effectively you get half the bandwidth, as each packet must go over the air twice.

Didn't work for me, tested it on and off with a speed checker and wifi analyzer and made no difference.
Not what it's for. It won't make your wifi faster. It just enables you to stand further away from your router. I have onw and it works just dandy.
Great if it worked for you but it didn't for me. I even called their 'helpline' who were beyond useless and after taking 15 minutes just to understand what the problem was (it didn't work!) they told me i'd need to pay 9.99 to get some premier help which 'should' fix the problem!

anyone got one? debating between this and nexus 7, extra screen real estate would be useful and is £20 cheaper. wondering if 1280 x 800 is good enough for netflix/youtube etc.
If you own a Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 2013 model the new Nougat's , Android version update will not be available.

There's no guarantee that Lenovo or any other manufacturer will update their devices either.

Usually technology gets cheaper, but a year after buying a Hudl2 from Tesco there is nothing like it around for similar money. The only one I found was the Chuwi Hi8 Pro on Ebay which sells for around £80 and has an 8" 1920x1200 screen, but that's not one you can pick up in the shops.
Some disadvantages to that Chuwi:

Strange brand name
Warranty probably non existent or pitiful
The battery life's probably dire

Actually the brand name always remind me of "Chewie" as Chewbacca from Star wars!
On the plus side has dual boot with windows 10/android. hdmi out and great IPS 1920x200 screen as well as USB-C and can be had as low as £57.99 (see sold items on Ebay)
