Asus GeForce GTX 980Ti DC3 Strix 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99 @ Overclockers

Cheapest it's ever been. The GTX 1070 may only be around £40 more for a good one and more power efficient but this overclocks so much better, usually to 1080 levels and is in stock. Free shipping as…

this over clocks to 1080 levels? I seriously doubt that
If anyone claims that, they're lying. How do I know? Because no one can say for sure how well a card will overclock.
Jim's ASUS 980 Ti might only hit 1400MHz core whereas Dave's might hit 1500MHz. Paul's PNY that was £80 cheaper might hit 1550MHz.
People seem to think if they buy ASUS or EVGA or MSI they're going to get better clocks. Not true and it varies even between brands. At least for the non-cherry picked chips in the highest end (Classified and water cooled for example.)

Not bad but not too much cheaper than a 1070. At £300 I'd bite but I'd just buy the newer card at this price to be honest.
Try finding one in stock
A quick google search shows plenty of stock.
Ha ha this post amuses
Erm, 1080 levels oO no were close. It's just not a sensible investment over a 1070

Thanks for the deal!

Did you ever try out Rocket league on this? Is it playable on low settings? thanks!
They only called me after i left the feedback they wasnt interested before there only solution was a refund.

Good luck getting an exchange they just refunded me even thought they were selling them at a higher price they tried to say it had been £179.99 for three weeks even thought id bought mine a week earlier i just left em a negative feedback on eBay as they wasn't very helpful in sorting an exchange. The have tried phoning me a few times but i've been in work maybe there trying to actually do something after i left the feedback but they should of sorted in the first place !

I don't think they actually are obligated to give you the higher price item now :/
I personally go straight through paypal everytime, I would guess them calling you is DEFO a solution you shoulda sorted before leaving feedback

Just seen this has been reduced so have changed the price on the deal.
It's got to get warmer at this price now, it's decent spec for the money :)
Well I did tell you that already.
How is the replacement?

It's great thank you!

Pondlife, you seem to have a fair bit of knowledge, can you comment and help this guy out?

http://www.hotukdeals.com/ask/laptop-difference-between-ssd-hdd-i3-5-7-celeron-pentium-2473461#post28327793

I just replied with my thoughts. Again though, remember it depends what he wants a computer for.

It was also stated by one of these 'users' who acted childishly in their discussion, that why have Argos eBay sold 300+ units against the ASUS that had sold no where near that - the answer is probably that the Lenovo has been returned many more times by customers, meaning that Argos eBay have more available units to sell, over the ASUS that they don't have many returned meaning not many refurbs to sell.
You won't know that until Argos manage to sell all of these. Which may take a while as it's not a good deal yet. Despite the price drop...
Nice selective reading of those that received the other better deal, leaving out all those that were in same contented position you supposedly were with this one you returned. Any refurb deal increases chances that you'll get a duff one, expect some did on this too, likely no one on hukd as unlikely anyone else bought one.
Helping people out by showing that you don't know what you are talking about isn't childishness. Expecting a full windows 10 install to be just 3gb the latest demonstration that you out of your depth.

So good that you've bought a replacement already...
LOL :D,he returned it already for another laptop with a i3 processor.... something he said he has no need for :|
They've dropped the price on this deal now too...

This was all about the Asus vs the Lenovo. I understand your comments I really do, but just because a CPU is better than another, doesn't make the overall product a better choice! I'd much rather have a slightly lower CPU and have a better built device.

I do know what I'm talking about, and we all have different opinions on things. Whilst I respect yours, I do have my own too. Lets just leave it at that.

[quote=MyBoozyHell][quote=DatAlbino][quote=MyBoozyHell][quote=DatAlbino][quote=MyBoozyHell] ......its £149.99 vs. £157.98 for the same product, both new, with the same warranty, both from reliable sellers. I would go for this one, especially as eBay/PayPal offers another protection layer too ....

Now it's £134.99 with Free delivery vs £157
Please update price. It's £15 cheaper..... :{
GNKelly07
I bought from LaptopOutletDirect and was under the impression their warranty was only with them for 30 days, after that they will point you to contact Asus yourself.
"If Item is Faulty, Please let us know and we will Replace it or Refund for you within 30 Days."
I'm not sure about this, so would be good to have clarification.

It states 1 year warranty on listing, then says, 'Any products with Warranty means that Laptop Outlet provides Warranty itself'

ASUS also do mandatory warranties on their new products, so all you would need is an invoice/proof of purchase, so you're covered by both ASUS and the seller here ^^

You are referring to their returns policy, not their warranty, a warranty comes in after the returns period expires

The Ebuyer one has a different processor and 4gb ram instead of 8gb. Its still enough but still £100.00 more than I paid for mine from Very.
cheaper @ ebuyer with reviews
The person who posted this thought it was a good deal. The Very deal was available for about a day. If I had decided to look later at night I would have missed it. Nobody else offered anywhere near the Very price but if there is any stock left it will pop up again. This is a 2015 laptop so there may be others available and they may pop up as a special deal. Best thing is if you are looking for something search at least once a day. I have subscribed to the hottest deals as a reminder and get an email usually about 1pm every day. When I tune in to hotdeals I always check new deals and not the hottest ones because sometimes the best deals are not the ones which get most heat.

Click NEW and then pick a category. My interests are usually Audio Visual, Mobiles, Computers and Home. I have picked up quite a few deals from this site including two laptops, Lenovo Tab, LG G4, Shark vacuum cleaner, a couple of portable hard drives, some power tools, bluray player and a tv. I spent a fortune. I must stop it lol.......
Still an interesting post, as it's brought a really good comment (thank you Smartguy1for the info and opinion), so thanks. You can learn a lot on HUKD!
People are voting cold because those of us who tune into hotdeals every day know that at the end of April this laptop was on offer at Very for £249.99 less 10% credit if you chose buy it now pay later. After adding postage this means a nett cost of £228.99 and you got 12 months to pay without any interest. Now that was a hot deal. I know I bought one. What I can tell you is it is very nice for the price I paid but it's not worth the money at best part of £400.00. The model you posted is a slightly higher spec with 8gb ram and a slightly quicker processor but the downside of that is less battery life. Personally I don't think tablets work on windows compared to android and there are a few design issues with the Asus that puts people off, I.e. Bluetooth keyboard. No standard size type A USB port. It only has one micro-b USB port with an adapter. At £400.00 there are better spec's laptops out there including ones with i5 processors and tthat' why people are voting cold. Memory is cheap and this laptop should be no more than £299.99.

be interested to know if anyone knows of a chromebook for sale with a touchscreen larger than 11.6"? all the ones I've seen are not available from our shores :(
Advice now is to wait. With Google opening up the Play Store to Chrome OS, there is going to be a shift in thinking how Chrome OS devices should be made, with potentially more emphasis on being more like the Android tablets or phones currently out there, such as the addition of touchscreens, gyroscopes and modems.

Cheers, having just sold my laptop I think best plan is get one of those £99 refurb Chromebooks to tie me over with till later in the year.

Yep same here - regarding finding the time to play too.

Motherboard is worth more, Doom is worth ~£30 but the SSD is only worth around £20-30, and unless you're an enthusiast, a much cheaper motherboard would be adequate, currently the cheapest LGA1151 boards are £45.

This is a Z170 board mate. The other cheaper boards do not overclock.

Mind the azerty keyboard. Average specs, nothing hot here for me, and hhd instead ssd, i recently got a yoga pro 3 with 3200x1800 screen and ssd (no dedicated graphics but i assume 940m is nothing special anyway) and i paid for the yoga 380 on amazon warehouse. This is no bargain:)
What's the cpu in the yoga pro 3? The 940m is a pretty good upgrade over intel on board graphics though if you don't do any gaming then yes this isn't a good deal.
Edit: From what I can find the Yoga pro 3 has a core m chip so won't be as powerful and it is 1.9kg vs 1.45kg
Ok then french keyboard and no ssd are still enough to put me off. Yoga also has a better screen and tablet mode. And surprise surprise, it does not weight 1.9kg but 2.26lb = 1.19kg
Yeah depends what you want really! Sorry I completely miss read the yoga specs lol I don't really think 3200x1800 is needed at this size of screen and I have a tablet so don't care much for those features :P not having an SSD sucks but I feel I can always upgrade it if I want one but yeah it depends what you want/use it for to how good the deal is really and if you can deal with a foreign keyboard

I just got one of these laptops from littlewoods because their offering 20% off on bnpl. Mine has ddr4
GS01
There's great upside to the new GPUs but lets be clear, laptop GPUs are not and will not be on par with desktops. And new mobile GPUs are speculation anyways and you're looking at waiting a few months and then steep prices.

Back to this laptop, I bought it a few months ago. £800 is fair but the Dell laptop should be considered too which is cheaper.
960M is midrange-ish but you're not getting better at this price point. If you want to go a step up, you need to ideally spend over 1k.

What I think of this laptop
Pros:
-Powerful (work)
-Portable enough
-Good looking
-Quiet during normal use
-Webcam+mic
-Easy upgradable ram

Cons
-Thick
-On the heavy side
-All plastic, top cover feels weak
-Linux is pain in ass to install

When I say powerful, I mean relative to it being a laptop that I carry around with me for work. I don't use it for gaming.

But you guys should really consider the Dell 15-7559 which is around £635, add a £50 m.2 and it's pretty much the same spec. My mate has that laptop and whilst it doesn't look as cool, it's equally as good in terms of performance and also thinner and lighter since there's no DVD Drive.

how easy was it to install the m2 in the dell?
Is it DDR4 or DDR3 RAM? It says one thing in the top and DDR3 in the bottom? What about the screen, is it mate, glossy? IPS or TN? Get conflicting info from different places...

The AMD GPU refresh in laptops are rebrands, not Polaris, so you will have to wait till next year probably. Also only the high end Pascal laptop cards have been teased so far, and they will obviously occupy the £1000+ price range. So unless you're willing to wait 1 year+ for mid range mobile Polaris/Pascal GPU's the 960m is still perfectly fine.

Very bad price. I got one 2 months ago at Curry's for £84. it's plenty of them on eBay for about £50 in pristine condition. Great router, fast, stable. i had to sell mine because I moved to Bournemouth and I have a sky router ( no need for 2 routers in a flat). I had problems to sell it for £60. went for £55.
I'd not buy a 2nd hand router to be honest.

It is the best deal I could find. It was on amazon warehouse for 66 couple of weeks ago but I couldn't get my hands on it.
If you find better price please post

A bit late but...SSD is no longer included. The promotion has finished.
Have the 120GB version of the SSD and can confirm its pretty crap, access times are obviously still better than a mechanical drive but the transfer speeds are hardly any better, Kingston changed the design of them drastically to save money once benchmark results of the initial production run came out, so the benchmarks don't represent the SSD you'll actually receive.
Excellent motherboard, best value for what you get IF you need some of the more premium features.
Good deal. Great motherboard. Heat.

Got one for same price on Amazon last week.

Love it except the trackpad is awful.
I went for the Lenovo yoga 11e with therpiuch screenfrom eBay xsonly for the same price but brand new. alot more faster and it has has an Intel chip plus it is built like a tank.

only received it today so just working things out, but I can tell you now that the touchscreen is great along with the IPS display and the trackpad does not make me miss my mac pro that i sold. I only sold that as I barely used it and it was money depreciating hence the chromebook.
Was £174.99 2 months ago @ebay Argos.
Hops into time machine.

Or patience.

Has been £179.99 @ Amazon twice this year. I'll wait for Amazon then maybe Flubit.
I'm on this now. Lovely little computer.

Looking forward to playing with play store apps when it arrives.

got mine. alll good but it is very slow to load web pages. only 2gb of storage storage which isnt enough once you take into account the OS. just bought the levono A10 and will see which one is better before sending one back
If you could post back a comparison it would be interesting to many I'm sure (me included as I only have the Lenovo A10)
got both and the lenovo A10 is by far the better tablet. it might have only 1gb of ram but it beats the zenpad in just about every way. screen is clearer and more vivid with deeper colours. General browsing on the web and youtube us significantly quicker on the Lenovo. unfortunately the zenpad is slow in comparison.

You try telling that to everyone who moans when there is a tablet posted with 1Gb Ram...all tablets should have 2gb blah blah blah..
Thanks for posting comparison, appreciated.

Thinking of sending ours back, shame really cos its like new. Thinking of getting the 16gb. I know it's only 8gb so have installed a 32gb card. Also installed app manager 3, moved most apps to sd card but still very low on memory and getting the insufficient storage message. Anybody have any other fixes?

no, its not the same thing...
This looks worse both cpu-wise and resolution-wise..?
it may be a lower resolution that's not always a bad thing on low spec devices like these, cpu wise this is better.

Apologies about the refurb comment i had assumed wrongly because of the old spec, this model has been out since last year so assumed that one was much older, i have deleted that now
If the OP is referring to THIS DEAL then it should be pointed out that it is a new item rather than a refurb. With double the memory (64GB) and (as MEDICGUY points out) a better screen.

That's the same Deal I mentioned above already!.

The above link you just provided/i provided before too, is 2GB + 64GB + Full HD etc, the OP's one is 2GB + 64GB + Full HD too (so where is the better Screen come into the equation?, as both are Full HD?), lol.

The only difference is the OP's Deal has a better Processor?.

just realised the sellers for £1.50 aren't from UK

I got aUK seller for £2.50 - cregan online - though they don't seem to be on there anymore! but yeah you will want a uk seller.

See if anyone else has got it to work with an adaptor vs a straight micro hdmi-hdmi cable.

some discussion of 2560 x 1600? some say need a usb 3.0 addon as cannot do more than 1080p over hdmi. others say hdmi is possible. all agree the CHIP is powerful enough! 1080p is fine for me!!
Cheers for the research! I must admit when i tried to look I couldn't find anything. I ordered a micro HDMI to HDMI adapter this week and tried it with a 1920*1080 27" monitor and it couldn't find a signal, maybe it's a faulty adapter, but I shall try it with other screens, I have a 2560*1440 27", I'll try that and post back if I can get it to work.
Thanks!
Oh that would be very interesting! It might be a cheap cable. Holding down windows and P (press four times to get second screen only) is the way I get it to work. If it goes on "Second screen only" I find that works best for resizing it on the TV/monitor.
Good luck and let me know!
I can't get it to work at all, I fear it's probably the cheap £1 adaptor. Which cable are you using to connect yours to second screen?

this one works on my son's hudl for £1.50 for 1.5m
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JQ1DGUA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but another cheap one from amazon i had to get a refund from in the past

i am still using this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0060NEGY2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it's 3m

priced at £9 quid here?

i paid £5.45 at the time.

Oh.... you're using an ADAPTOR? I remember my old samsung netbook had MINI HDMI (not micro) and I had trouble with an adaptor.

I find a direct lead better - and can put that into a 3m HDMI to HDMI extension cable?

I'd try the £1.45 one above first and if it works directly then can try an extension

would this be a straight swap for the bt home hub 3?
That's what I did a couple of years back (I think) and it was great, the HH kept losing wifi and having to be rebooted all the time the ASUS was solid. The only issue I had was with BT Sport where I had to adjust some settings (google works for this), definitely recommended for the price

cheers my good man
With Sky you need a separate modem whether it's ADSL or fibre, however, you can use the Sky router to do that job, turn off wifi etc, connect this router directly to it and let it do all your LAN tasks. Little bit more to it than that re settings on your Sky router but Google will show you dozens of guides to do that.
Not true, if on fibre just get a router with VDSL modem built in.... (you will need to use a bit of software to 'extract' your username and pass as sky dont like giving this out)
LOL, yes it is true, and you say as much yourself!
You need a modem for all of Sky's internet services whether it is combined with the modem, like Sky's own sub standard offerings, or a standalone one, which the Sky one can in effect be used as.
I mentioned it because services like cable do not need one as the connection installed allows a router like the Asus to be plugged straight into...which is why they are sometimes misleading referred to as 'cable routers'.
The OP asked if this would replace the Sky one and I gave a correct reply, yes as long as you have something else to provide the modem function, like his existing Sky router or one of the Openreach standalone modems.
Like all things there are many other options available but that is not what the OP asked.

No you said you need a seperate modem which isn't true (but you can 'daisy chain' a router and seperate modem like you suggest) what I said was you can get a router with modem built in (that part is true)

Edit: LOL

Edited By: lidds on May 31, 2016 21:32
Virgin equipment is pi55 poor. Superhub 1 & 2 just don't perform to even the basic level of acceptability.

If you use them in Modem mode only then they absolve themselves of all responsibility by saying they can't test errors etc.
I've had one of these for about 1.5 years. Was fed up of having to reboot the virgin media smart hub every week so switched it to modem only mode and use one of these as the router. Been a solid performer ever since. All the usual features, also has vpn capability, lets you hang usb hard disks off of it as a media server or usb printers as a print server as well.
Excellent price for this. It's not the newest around but a strong, solid performer. Well worth the money.

I think nvidia have lost on this round. Amd will have more budget friendly gpus with new tech like hbm etc.
I don't get it... AMD will be releasing lower priced, slower hardware. How can NVIDIA lose a round AMD aren't playing?
The nvidia line is just the old stuff with a die shrink and minor support for a sync. The amd stuff is actually a new architecture that's going to have great price to performance.
AMD Polaris isn't a brand new architecture. It's an incremental release from the GCN released in 2011.
What does Pascal give us that Maxwell never? (Apart from a die shrink). No architectural improvements whatsoever as far as I can see, except for improved monitor output specs.
These are the seven architectural improvements AMD brings:
Remember what you said, It's not a new architecture.

I wasn't comparing it. It's still GCN regardless.

I don't know what you are talking about. The Founders Edition is not specially binned, it is no different than the non-reference in terms of OC'ability.
Where are you getting your recommendation from?
I would imagine that they mean the FE thermal and voltage throttles like crazy.
Aftermarket designs tend to have an extra power connector and adequate cooling to get reliable stable overclocks.

I don't think so... Why would you pay $100 more for a card AND $100+ for the aftermarket cooler?

Surely you could buy a non-FE and do the same?

Checked the price OP and it says £159? :(
It has large number of 1 star reviews, almost as many as 5 star reviews.
Very odd that?, hmmmmmmmm.
Total opposite's it appears? .. a bit like Night & Day?.

The negative Reviews are mainly for T100TAF-BING-DK024B which is 32GB older model. In Amazon they display reviews all under 1 Tab which is bit confusing.
This one is newer model and lot better design & build quality which takes on legacy of ASUS Taichi series.

You can see that on the review where it mentions "Size & Style" : 32GB eMMC Style Name: 10.1 inches"

not my t100. the battery is in the tablet. the keyboard just plugs in. some dell models had two batteries one in kb one in tablet
Not sure if it's this model but I got a T100 some time ago and the biggest issue was that you had to charge the keyboard (which is Bluetooth) separately to the tablet, and of course when you wanted to use either the tablet was dead or the keyboard. Talk about stupid design idea...
