This one isn't the "Pure" version with Air Purifier. £95 is a decent 24% off but still grossly overpriced for what it truly is; a fan.

For anyone who is interested, you can get a discount (which dabone mentions) if you are an previous Dyson customer. Which brings the price down on this to £309.99. You have to phone up to get the discount, number I was given by Live Chat is 0800 298 0298.

I got mine direct from Dyson for £309 on Tuesday was phoneing up to get one collected asI found it cheeper on line after I had ordered it, was told while I was on the phone the price had just dropped so ripped thier arm off and ordered there and then while on the phone I arranged for the same model to be collected at the same time as the new one was being delivered....lol also comes with free next day delivery and free tool attachments

Could they not of just refunded you the difference?

Also do you have a link to the £309 price?

Get a Miele and get fit whilst your hoovering too :D
Miele vacuums are nice, just never owned one so like many I have no frame of reference on how they are to live with. I don't expect this deal to get hot but thought someone might appreciate a heads up regardless.
I've owned a Dyson which is still going strong after 6 years and the one time I've used their CS it was a pleasure I have to say.
Do Miele do a bagless upright?
I've had both Dyson & now Miele and the latter Miele knocks spots off Dyson in every way except they are heavy - or at least the upright one we have is' hence get fit whilst your hoovering.
The build quality on a Miele vs it's very plasticky overpriced competitor Dyson is second to none and the performance is better too - my opinion.
Miele don't do bagless as far as I know but as I say I've had both and prefer a Miele with bags that cleans brilliantly and keeps all the muck in a bag - as opposed to a Dyson that cleans well but with a messy 'bag less' system that spreads as much dust as it takes in - or at least ours used too.
Just my opinion OP' there's a few Dyson lovers on here who'll say different as will the Miele fans.
I suppose it's all down to personal preference :)

Yeah it is mostly down to personal preference. I do like the idea of a filterless bagless vacuum though so been keeping an eye on the price of the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal. The fact it has no filters to clean (which our current one has a few of and they are always a pain) is the biggest selling point imho.

Like you say "the cloud" as I think it is known is the biggest flaw with these bagless vacuums, we empty ours outside into the wheelie bin to avoid spreading it about but this isn't always an option for others. That being said I'm not sure I could go back to paying for bags, I'd imagine the genuine Miele ones are quite expensive but I guess there are a few OEM versions about that brings down the cost.

Yeah the older Dysons are very heavy, you certainly work up a bit of a sweat when doing the whole house top to bottom that's for sure! lol

I have to say the biggest thing that puts me off a Miele is the 2 year guarantee, for all the talk of it being "German Engineering" you'd think they'd back it up with a longer free warranty, rather than the current pay £50 for 10 years system they have at the moment.

Anyone get one? I got there an hour and a half after opening and all gone. :(
Suction on these is much better than the previous models but the battery is awful considering Dyson's supposed cutting edge technology. Battery life is less than 5 minutes on high power and seems to reduce visibly each time it's recharged. As with the previous handheld models, you're more than likely going to be replacing the battery after 18 months as it won't charge at all.... and it's not covered by the guarantee.

I am so pleased I saw this post as was after a hand held but did not want to spend the earth for it and the £70 older model I bought from Ebay after seeing this thread arrived today...

I was VERY apprehensive after reading the comments on here especially as it is an older less powerful model BUT I have just tried it out ( the DC30 ) and I absolutely LOVE it

It said seller refurbished but it came in original box and looked spanking brand new!

I charged it for a couple of hours then could not resist trying it out as there was plenty to try it out on with my Grandson with special needs in the house , the suction was FINE more than enough to pick up everything in sight including loads of soap powder from the kitchen mat as little Mister LOVES ''doing the washing'' but the soap dispenser drawer is tiny on my Candy washer so he spills the powder everywhere but am just happy he is happy helping Nanny with the washing or pretty much doing the washing tbh lol

I also tried it on my ash tray droppings ( yuk I know ) but I needed something which would pick up the butts and ash after an accidental drop on the floor and it managed it all with no problems whatsoever , so any dry spills , crumbs , washing powder etc will be no problem and I was panicking thinking it would stop in the middle of my hoovering but I ended up LOOKING for other bits and pieces to pick up as the 6 minutes was enough to do a quick good clean up which is what I was looking for so I don't have to get my full size plug in hoover out for small jobs and this really does work a treat as I was hoping it would as my other Dyson ( newer model ) works a treat as well and you do get what you pay for if you get it on a special offer like this so I would definitely recommend especially with kids in the house for sure!!

To be honest this product cheered me up today ;) Plus I love the grey and white colour I got it actually looks good around the house!

dont know why the heat - batteries are very bad and the price is ridiculous.
define bad?
I think it's about 6mins battery life with "boost" mode enabled. Just enough time to do a decent job of a single large room.
Also boost mode is non-optional if you need to clear anything more than crumbs off the floor
Wow that's not great :(

I'm not sure why people are complaining about this. This is a hand held, rechargeable vacuum cleaner. I have an earlier model of this and it does exactly what it should. It's not meant to be a replacement for a full size cleaner. It's their for the little spills, and spiders, not to clean the whole home.

Mine arrived yesterday, thank you. It will be perfect for the car.
Have a DC44 animal I got after seeing it on here. Since we bought it a year and a half back we've pretty much never used a normal vacuum cleaner as it's so much easier using this. Would definitely recommend paying the extra and getting one with the powered head and extension pole thingy

I ordered two refurb v6 animals via eBay dyson outlet (one for in laws) that was recently posted at £167.99. Both wouldn't charge (no solid blue light). Called Dyson and they are replacing them for two brand new non refurb v6 animals, parcelforce doing collection and delivery at same time. Disappointed they didn't work, but great service afterwards.
Has anyone seen any "similar" units to these handheld Dysons? I'm not looking for something exactly like this but one of the standard handheld ones for my retired parents. It would be handy but not if it means paying well over £100 for occasional use!
sohi
horrible customer service from dyson. trying to return the product with in 14 days but on 2 different occasion delivery person never came. And they don't clue about it.
I believe they're using Parcelforce for delivery. Ask them if the same company handle the returns and if you can drop it off at the Post Office.

Doesn't really seem like a good deal considering that John Lewis were selling these brand new for £119 just three months ago and lots of places were selling the standard V6 for £170 recently. You might be better to wait for another sale.
The Animal version comes with an extra motorised head
I believe all the DC58 units come with the motorised head, the one I got from John Lewis certainly did anyway. It is the V6 Trigger base model that doesn't.
James2505

Then you chose a bad time to urgently need a Dyson handheld.

Dont understand why this is so cold, its a good deal, ok not as good as v6 but its cheaper (its actually the same air watt rating as the v6 in standard mode, it just doesn't have as powerful boost mode) and it comes with the mini motorised head !!

Yeah the V2 is better than the V6, the V minus 68 is best as lower the number the more awesome it is!

Quite possibly just upgrading, we have had 3 Dysons in around 8-9 years plus a v6 handheld.
Given how much better they have gotten over the years it can't be that uncommon?
Agreed, we've had a DC01 from the mid nineties and only upgraded to a DC25 in 2008, both are still in use! Only had to replace the hose in the DC01 after a tear appeared and they fitted a new plug at the same time (which they did to all of the original round plugs as far as I can tell).

Have you thought about getting a upright Sebo? They last for years and years and are excellent vacuum cleaners.
Dyson I wouldn't have one if it was a gift. That's just my opinion after owning a Dyson that lasted just over a year and needed new motor.
Still on my Origin DC08 from 2001 an utterly superb cleaner!

Heat. Dyson at £150 is a really good buy.:) After many years, we are on our third Dyson and never had a day's trouble. Fantastic machines.

What happened to the other Dyson??
It's a good price but it's not really suitable as a main upright for a whole house, it is aimed more towards those who live in flats or need a lightweight hoover, the size sacrifices the power cord, hose and bin size all being smaller/shorter than other dysons. The newer model called the small ball has made a few improvements including a longer power cord, longer hose and the pipe/handle is now made of metal instead of plastic making it more stable but it costs twice the price of this.

Hi. I have just picked up the V8 animal for £387. Double the price of the V6 , but really does pick up the rubbish. U don't buy a vacuum cleaner very often,so I think it is worth it. The V6 has the smallest head and with 20 minutes battery I would seriously advise looking at at least the animal model. I sell these everyday for currys and the V6 I would say is the only one you should think twice about.
Am i right in thinking that all the dyson v6's are all the same in terms of power and battery run time? Just different tools i.e the Animal has an extra pet tool?

Ive had a couple of these Dysons over the years but have just got new decent thick carpets and dyson upright models will not work on them. One damaged head and replacement was heading the same way, had to switch to a dyson cylinder model which has been excellent. Be aware of this if buying dyson uprights, no good for thick carpets.

That surprises me, I've had Dyson uprights for years with thick carpets & have always found them to be fine

Brilliant deal, thanks so much! I added the £1 item, and got £20 off. I've been waiting for a good deal to order one of these! Heat added ;)
nice, thanks
Can you buy the attachments to turn this into a v6 cordless? If so, how much is it?

Hmm, get this or wait for the V8 deals :{

I'm confused by the different versions of this, too many!
For (short) dog fur & kids, and a mix of carpet , laminate & vinyl flooring then i guess the best to go for is the total clean?
Do i miss out on any attachments if i got the total clean?
Cheers
Yes mate, we've got the same apart from the dog and it's perfect for us

better with the dc50, the dc40 is harder to empty and clean and of you want to use the hose to clean the stairs all it does is fall over
I have a DC50 for upstairs and a DC40 for downstairs. The DC50 is not suitable for a whole house unless you want to be emptying the bin constantly, the hose on it is also too small for the stairs, im lucky if i can get to 1/3 of the stairs with it's hose. The the handle on the DC50 also doesn't feel that stable to me. The small ball which replaces the DC50 is a better model as it has a longer power cord, longer hose and a metal handle which provides better stability. I got the DC40 as the dyson engineer who was fixing my DC33 said it was a good all round for general cleaning and so far it has been alright just a little heavy like most dyson's are. The DC50 is more suited to a person living in flat or older people who need a lite vacuam to lift and move around
Its gone up to £229 now! Still a saving of £120 though
But the dc50 is tiny.

Again like with Apple I cant justify the outlay because there are much cheaper options around that can do exactly the same.

Which cheaper options?
the porter
£424 at very use code KHUPW

Not working for me - can anyone get this applied on their basket?

I just phoned Very up and spent 30 mins on the phone trying to get them to apply the code, but they don't seem to know what they're doing as they agreee it should be valid, but can't apply it. (_;)
People will fully ignore what I say on this and I am glad you got it for much cheaper and you are after one and I'm not slating the deal, not mentioned that at all and fully happy with people taking it up if they want to.

I am just mentioning that I cant justify the outlay for what you get and the performance it can offer for the price. I've tested and repaired every Dyson product all the way back to the DA01 and the only ones that I can say have been really good are the DC01,DC05,DC07,DC14 after that Dyson have struggled IMO to justify the price for the technology they are providing us with and they have not pushed it far enough to justify the cost.

For this model I can say the motor and handle unit the main working part of the machine costs Dyson roughly £20 the battery would cost them roughly £25 so the two mains parts would cost no more than £50 max and the rest of the machine is moulded plastic with the box/packaging/manual/etc. so say £100 all in and comparing that to the performance and material costs to their cheaper uprights and cylinders which you would get better overall vacuuming from those than one of this by a long shot.

I cant see what the rest of the £337 is for, it's ridiculously expensive research, high cost marketing, Customer services/cant count engineers to repair them as they are replaced and done in house where the uprights and cylinders mostly done out on the road. They will still be making 100% GP on the costs to get it to the door.

Again like with Apple I cant justify the outlay because there are much cheaper options around that can do exactly the same. I know more people who have had problems with iphones than any other phone my sister-in-law has had 3 and they have all had problems and broke but she still buys then because she has brought into the marketing and it's the same with Dyson.

Yes, its a bargain price for this product but it isn't a bargain product for the price.

I am certainly no expert and I have no idea whether this is a good deal or not so I haven't voted. I would have a real problem handing over this kind of money for a fan; whatever the brand.
FACT: some people have more money than you.
since my recent euromillions win, I am quite happy with my bank balance

Enjoy your £10, don't be jealous of others
But can your standard fan do this.............

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WNcjkZ6d0w
Works great.....
Definitely one for those who want to look 'cool'
These fans are ludicrously overpriced..... and even worse, i've heard a lot of people say they dont work as well as a same sized conventional fan that costs about a tenner.

I've researched these thoroughly over the weekend. Word of warning, you need the "fluffy" version if you want to vacuum carpets. The others (animal, etc) are of no use whatsoever on carpets and only good for hardwood floors.
Good deal all the same. Head added!
I'm afraid your research is nonsense!

The fluffy is the only one with a motorised cleaning head. That suggests it is for carpets - http://www.mycleanhomeguide.co.uk/dyson-v6-reviews/

Sorry I think you're wrong.
According to this review of the fluffy:
...whereas the direct drive brush head bundled with the V6 is designed for carpets, the Fluffy has a much softer brush head that was built exclusively for hard floors.

I've got the DC59 which is the model before this and I can only say good things about it. Once you go cordless you won't go back. It really is brilliant. Mine came with some attachments which are useful for sucking up dust and cleaning the car.
I did, found the Dyson to be a pain after 12 months of using it. Yes it's handy, but you're constantly messing about emptying & unblocking the piece of junk. Great being cordless but it comes at a price.
Got this one now, yes it's got a cord, but it knocks the Dyson into a cocked hat. X)https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shark-Rocket-Powerhead-Cleaner-AH450UKD/dp/B01A8NZZA8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470036939&sr=8-1&keywords=shark+powerhead
Ah I understand what you mean. Although if it picks up so much that you have to empty it frequently isn't that a good thing? I mean it does its job really well? Yeah the blocking issue is one I've run into but it isn't too inconvenient for me as I have an old butter knife which can get to the rubbish in the upper part. Its still incredible useful and even with 20 minutes of run time I've never actually run out of time.

What do you do? spread the rubbish.8)

I was looking at the V6 Absolute, looks really good however I was horrified at the price. The V6 looks good too.
The absolute is fantastic. I have had a few dyson machines inc cordless and my current one is the absolute. its extremely powerful and last long enough for me to do my house no problem on normal speed. you would not be dissapointed with this. i ordered mine from ireland and had it shipped to the uk got a great deal from hardys of kilkeel . i phoned them and they did a great deal. also if you go on ebay and search dyson you can see the refurb models from dyson direct. these are machines that have been returned for various reasons and have been refurbished to new condition. and believe me they are like new.. you can get a great cordless at great cheap price.. checkout the link to dyson outlet on ebay for the v6 absolute..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dyson-V6-Absolute-Cordless-Vacuum-Cleaner-Refurbished-1-Year-Guarantee-/121872572761?hash=item1c602be159:g:AXwAAOSwL7VWohmH

Thanks, I was looking at that and wondering. I suppose if it's factory refurb it should be perfectly fine. I was looking at one in Costco, but it was ex-display and they were still wanting about £300 for it. No instructions or anything.

Yes this model is not that good but spend abit more on the v6 absolute and that is amzing twice the suction power as standard v6 and i get around 15 to 20 min of battery which is enough for my house and picks up very good

they both have exactly the same suction power and run time as use the same unit, the difference is in the brush bar as its stiffer, it would be probably cheaper getting one from Tesco and buying the powered head off Ebay

These things are ****, they barely pick anything up, they cannot do dog hair at all and their battery lasts 5 mins. I sent mine back, I don't see the value in it, just buy a Miele for the same price, it's so much better. If you need to do your car or the stairs.... they have attachments.

From what everyone was saying, I was expecting something I could replace my conventional hoover with. All the comments were like "yeah you can".... ****.

+ What is with the bagless thing? All that happens is you have to then find a bag to put the mess in. If you pour it straight into the bin it sticks to it and then you have to clean the bin out, so you pour it into a bag and get dust everywhere.... Hoovers with bags are so much better, like the Miele ones.

does your bin not have a binbag inside?

I can recommend this thoroughly.Wall mount it and have the unit plugged in to a power source and you will have a great friend in the kitchen for any tidy or clean up job.Hoovers well and the battery time is ample -good for stairs and tight corners too.Plus, it's no fuss -no dragging cables and heavy unit from room to room or fumbling with sockets-hoovering is done is a third of of the time-easily.
warranty!!!
