Had a few of these, full of gorgeous pictures.
I've collected a fair few motorsport books over the years but the passion, let alone space,is no longer there alas
Can't say I've kept up with the prices either but this seems a fair deal and for my sins, I do have a 1981/82 copy on the shelf
Usually a load of reasonably priced heavyweight motorsport tomes can be had from the likes of 'The Works' and even the pound stores sometimes throw a few smaller ones in the mix
Hope the heat given is not in vain ;)

Good deal here... http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/logitech-g29-racing-wheel-ps4-pc-amazon-2501336

If you pick one up at a good price, you will sell it for the same if not more. I sold my G27 for £250. I bought it second hand for £170 with a stand!

We can't all pay over 800 bar for rubber Mr

Only the stupid would pay over 800 for tyres. Use Blackcircles!

I have the same tyres on my Golf and when i last had the same rubber put on it cost me £199 so less than £100 a corner.

Brilliant Tyres. Excellent wet grip. Better than Continentals for wet grip driving in the UK.
Police vehicles now use Goodyears because of the performance/wet grip.

Received mine on Tuesday. Simply games always seem to get the games out early. I've only done a handful of time trials so far (plenty round Azerbaijan) and the handling is better than F1 2015. Lots of fine details making the difference. Looking forward to career mode.
Any news on how this laptop skin works?

I thought I was getting a deal paying £20 cash at my local ats. Great find especially as not via group-on or the likes!!

andreis
It's a good deal but I would advise against going to large chains for specialist jobs. Use local mobile air con technicians - I've had my air con serviced and recharged for £25 in front of my house.
Saying that, I've spent about £3000 on repairs at Formula One over the years...

Thank you for your sound advice. I hope people on here will listen to what you have said, I sure as hell will! I have a colleague who, like you, told me to go to a local garage rather than F1, who may I say, have had not hundreds but thousands of £'s off me....I'm sure some / most was for nowt!

I am happy I did. Local garage guy is fantastic and as honest as they come.

Lol looks like my pocket was really interested in these tyres!!
houston26
evil_soup
I have just fitted a full set of these to my Subaru WRX and although they are outstanding in the wet, they do suffer from a lot of flex in the tyre walls so are not really suitable for spirited driving. The car feels unstable during cornering as if it is twisting from the centre point. If you plan on using them for normal driving then they are a great purchase but if you like to push on from time to time I would try something else on a similar budget like Falken or Toyo. Heat added for the deal but I won't use them again for my needs.

run them at a higher pressure than you normally would, an extra 2-4 psi really helps and you lose no comfort (not that it matters in a wrx, lol)
I will give that a shot. Comfort is something I don't associate with the WRX thats for sure!

I went, it was a nice few hours out. Not a huge amount of track activity but well worth going and great weather too
Did anyone go? Hope it was a good day out.
Just turn up as its not a ticketed event. I shall pop along as its local for me
The only location mentioned in the article is "The action will run from 9am to 5pm with fans granted access to the international pit-straight grandstand."

No sign of registration, but having gone to Silverstone last year there are multiple activities and buildings you can access most days both within and immediately around the circuit, so there weren't any entrance checks (wasn't a race day). While most of the seating grandstands will likely be closed, Silverstone has plenty of space around the circuit with good views for the cars going round so space really won't be a problem.

Mines arrived, good fit and not bad feel of the leather - can't believe they have ever sold at £90 or whatever it was tho.
JPS
Everyone jokes but I love Puma driving shoes. You can feel the pedals much better than some of the monstrosities people wear on their feet whilst driving. A must if you love driving.

Yup me too especially if you have a car with the pedals all very close together compared to other cars, you need something narrower than the usual. All the Puma driving style shoes I have are the most comfortable all very light and just so comfortable. I've tried the Adidas Porsche range but not upto the same as the Puma Cat/Drift range which basically all these are just branded with whichever F1 team they are sponsoring, upon saying that the Red Bull range they have look terrible and don't appear to be driving shoes at all. Give it a while and they will all be heavily reduced!

Damn, too narrow. I need 365s to make a Goodyear.
Photo is not of an Asymmetric 2, more like a winter tyre.
Just bought one of these for £159 from black circles thought I got a good deal - damn! As main stealers quoted £220.
I do love these tyres but lately they've been ranked lower as the other companies bring out their new tyres. I think the new Assymetric 3's are out now and apparently they are brilliant, probably why these are so muh cheaper now.

portrait lens is just a lens you use to take a portrait
specific labelling is a bit pretentious
sure, fairly long, fast and sharp in centre lend themselves to portraiture but you can also do other stuff with them

I use my 50mm 1.8 lens which is equivalent to an 80mm on a Canon with a factor of 1.6 . 85mm lens was always what they called a portrait lens on the old 35mm format though. Just sayng
I love my 85mm f1.8 and 135mm f2.0 and both are portrait lenses. If you will put 85mm on your crop sensor you should love it too.

The prizes are a (fit)bit vague - "cool prizes from Fitbit and Urbanears". I'd rather have cash personally, plus isn't it going to another predictable season (mostly Mercedes wins, with the odd interruption from Ferrari)?

In this fantasy F1 league, is the race winner likely to be decided on who qualifies on pole the day before the race?

Link's dead, don't think they sell PS4 version anymore search only returns PC and XB1.

Next cheapest place? Wanna order :P
Out of date now they are messing with the rules yet again. ;)

On a more serious note not a bad price but I haven't been that impressed with Codemasters F1 games.

Fujifilm XQ2 digital camera ( f1.8 lens, 1080p60 ) £180.00 @ currys

19
Currys have price reduced the Fujifilm XQ2 to £180. Before Christmas it was £220. The Fuji XQ2 is a premium pocket-sized digital camera with a bright FUJINON F1.8-4.9 25-100mm equiv. lens, an advan…

If it comes down any lower in price i might buy one as a xmas present for my son, oddly enough i bort a refubished fuji X100S midweek, its so small and compact, the pictures are great.
F1.8 at the wide end is better than F3.6!

Lets compare the XQ2 aperture to some of it's rivals

Olympus XZ10 F1.8-2.7
Fujfilm XQ2 F1.8-4.9
Nikon P340 F1.8-5.6
Canon S120 F1.8-5.7
Canon S200 F2.0-5.9
Panasonic LF1 F2.0-5.9
Sony RX100 F1.8-4.9
Sony WX50 F2.6-6.3
Sony WX80 F3.3-6.3
Nikon S6800 F3.3-6.3
Canon SX710 F3.2-6.9
Panasonic TZ60 F3.3-6.4
Nikon S9700 F3.7-6.4
Canon Ixus 275 F3.6-7.0

Only the Olympus XZ10 is better!

I'm not worried by the aperture, I'm more bothered by the XQ2's poor video mode and lack of PAL frame rates.

f1.8 wide open just, which is likely when you need it least
not bad though
That's the way optics works.
its not the way they 'work' - its by simplicity of design
you can get constant aperture lenses over the full range if you design them that way
my point is that the 1.8 isn't so much of a selling point as it seems
They do not just work by design, but by the laws of physics. You could not have a lens that size that was 1.8 all the range without it being bigger, and this is intended as a very compact camera.
erm you are making a different point now which i already covered, obviously the 'design' is going to obey the laws of physics
you said that being slow at telephoto was how it worked - its not
its how it works with a simple design yes but with more elements and complexity that can be overcome
sure it will be bigger generally but thats a separate issue
the time the aperture matters most is when you are shooting longer focal lengths which is why the 1.8 isn't such a big thing (and it goes up VERY quickly when zooming) and why the 4.9 is more of a big thing
No, that was the point I was trying to make in the first place, I should have made a longer post then.
thats the way words work :p

Still got to get there.....
general admission 3 day race tickets are about £90, so £80 per person for 2 nights staying in Lorret de Mar on room only basis, so not a great deal to be honest.
So you think £40 a night with B&Breakfast and evening meal is a bad price?
Read the small print, room only. You can get any of these hotels cheaper by going direct, or via something like onthebeach.co.uk. Also no transfers to the track included, I think you'll be better off staying in or nearer to Barcelona itself where you can get a bus or train into the circuit every day easier than if you are on the coast like these hotels

Got these on my Golf R. Superb.
Goodyear 205/55/16 on a Golf R? who stole your original wheels?
More to the point who puts economy oriented tyres on a Golf R :p Surely Eagle F1's or Sport Contacts etc lol
These don't feel like economy tyres. They give more feel than anything else I've ever used

They are designed primarily for wet weather safety and fuel economy i.e low rolling resistance, not outright handling performance which is really what you want on a Golf R- it's already Haldex 4WD as it is and hardly needs wet weather tyres!

They are not at all a BAD choice, but a very odd one for a car like a Golf R. It's like wearing wellies for running track because it might rain.

SportContact6, Pilot Sports or the latest generation Eagle F1 is much more appropriate, offering considerably more maximum dry performance but still better than average in the wet. Each to their own though, I only observed the oddness of it.

Great price but I had a couple of these and the sidewalls are very soft and unlike any other tyre I've ever come across. I hit a pothole recently and the sidewall punctured... not sure whether another tyre would have suffered the same fate but I won't get these again.

Wife borrowed my car and decided to park by running over the pavement - destroyed the side wall completely, never realised side wall issues until I did some research after this happened last week. The wear on these tyres are great on my vw touran I had done 12k miles and they still had 4mm left but will get stronger side wall tyre next time.

Mainly motorway miles

Damn gutted I missed this! Emailed the vendor and they said this price was a Panasonic special promotion and is no longer available :( If anyone knows a way to get the same price please share!
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I did the same price match through John Lewis which went through fine. First prime lens, still learning how to use it effectively, main difference I noticed is the increased depth of field compared to the kit lens.
Has anyone experience of the new 25mm 1.7 ?? ~£150!
If you want to get really close (wildlife shots) then the Panasonic 100-300 is also great. Bit more expensive, though.
thanks vclaw, will take a look at those, thanks for the help!

What year is this from? If it is last years car with the mercedes engine then im in, but if its from a previous season with a renault engine thats a serious deal breaker!
the time has come to trade in the gti :)
In the JL description:- "Brand: Unbranded".

"Unbranded" wouldn't be my first choice of words to describe an F1 car...
As long as its delivered in a Mercedes Benz van you will get in on time. ,if it comes in a Renault or Honda. God only knows when you will get it

My boy played with it for five mins today and the rear wheel broke off. I'm quite upset at this as I know he did not mis use it or anything and in my opinion it should be able to withstand impacts that it will obviously have. Apart from that it was brilliant and my boy who is autistic made me so proud by not crying when it broke despite being visually upset.
Picked up one for the boy and one for his friends birthday! They look great and obviously I have tried my boys as well and it is fab! It drifts on my carpet because of the power and goes quite quick on a hard surface! I think a park or something it would be brilliant!
