An utterly pointless app then.
What good is that? I'd be **** getting less sleep lol. It’s not like the snow is magically going to disrepair by the time you’re up.

Although you could download this and give us an heads-up if you do get any forecasts (_;) So not bad after all... Mhm.

Hi there,

Had ordered a "Yusun T22 Android 2.3 Bar Phone w/ 3.5" Capacitive Screen, Wi-Fi and Dual-SIM - Black" from Deal Extreme.
It had arrived as of today.

Phone works just fine and is exactly what I had expected; it is pretty fast, light and smooth to use.

Shipping and order handling plus support 5/5, no problems any. Would warmly recommend to anybody for a place to order from.

Cheers from Finland
Used deal extreme on a few occasions and had no problems. I guess it's (as ever) the luck of the draw. For 23 quid to get an android phone (ideal for kids / oldies), I really don't think you can complain.
I want a pair of these...

How are non UK sellers posts by some people allowed on here but ebay sellers from outside the UK posts aren't allowed.

Odd are the "rules" For posting on this site where some non UK sellers are allowed but not others from eBay etc even for great value products.
I agree, have had two non-UK deals removed, despite the fact one was an established retailer in Germany, and the branded product was 2/3 of the UK price even with shipping. The other one was a Chinese seller on ebay, granted, but was a fantastic deal for a MemoPad HD case....

...dealxtreme, on the other hand, are rubbish. :/
If you want a rubbish but dirt cheap Android phone, the Alcatel OT T’Pop for £19.95 (plus top up), or £14.95 upgrade, from Carphone Warehouse has similar memory/processor/screen, but is 3G, and has free next day delivery.

I found that you can fool your iPhone to charge even if it refuses to with non certified cable.
At the end of the day, these 500-600 pound phones are only meant to last two to three years tops anyway! As most companies only make products with short life spans so they can feed us the new version, when the smallest thing goes wrong
when I had an iPhone 5 the official lightning charger never skipped a beat and I found it was very well made great quality but every "non official" lead i bought (extra for my workplace) lasted about 2 weeks all of them were rubbish and in the end I bought another official one ... wouldn't even bother with these knock off ones
KPGrimmy
Crazy people that buy a £500 - £600 phone and then use a £1 cable which could very well damage it. Very odd.

i would love to know how this would damage the phone if used with the apple provided plug? the cable would only carry the voltage / current that the plug would allow!
Saw these last week at £5.99, which is still cheap compared to the Apple offering (£15). However, checked the packaging for the MFi logo and it simply isn't there. My personal opinion is that a major retailer like Sainsburys shouldn't be selling what is effectively a knockoff product.

I believe there's a chip inside the genuine apple lead that tells device it's the real thing. I ended up buying an apple lightning to micro usb adapter from cpw for £12; i can now use any cheap/long micro usb lead.

£8 at CEX. Most, if not all, are brand new and unopened.

EdinSimon
Are Apple still doing the trade in deal?

Charger only, not the cables and it only relates to counterfeit items passing themselves off as genuine Apple chargers rather than compatible third party offerings.

Edited By: spraint on Jan 21, 2014 19:44
It's not the cable, it's people who don't bother looking before posting. I see posts for these every few days it seems.
There may be loads of these cheap cables who people are happy to criticize without seeing but also found out that [email protected] are also a penny a dozen and loads of them on hot deals.... won't be posting much more but will happily dish out the cold.
cheap and rubbish, I know. save your £1
Will these posts ever die? Everyone knows you can buy crappy, fake cables at Poundland now.

I see the comment here that it is selling for $50 in the USA, does anyone ever wonder why we pay so much for these phones with such crappy network coverage, its about time that some of this excess profit was ploughed back into network coverage. I cannot get a phone signal at all in my area with ANY network, have tried them all. Its a joke!! even half way up a mountain in China i can get a signal there but here in the nice flat small island with plenty of inhabitants i cannot get a signal 15 minutes out of Peterborough. CRAZY.

Don't understand why this phone is the same price I paid a year ago when every other phone has managed to depreciate in value. Is it jammed full with 10kg of valuable metals or something?
Market forces my friend, businesses charge customers what they are willing to pay.

Max of 1 per buyer ?? If they gave these away it would still cost too much, worst phone ever !!
WOW! Worst phone ever? Words can't describe how retarded you sound by saying that

Yep, after having one since they came out (thankfully as a work phone), I can categorically say that it has been THE worst phone I've EVER owned (& I get a new phone each year & work in the industry).

It actually put me off Android as a whole until I discovered the HTC One.

The iPhones are still the best, with HTC's a close 2nd.

This phone would rank under the Nokia 3210.......
Doubt you work in the industry.
You sound more like a vanilla user that has no desire to set up or tweak his phone.
As such, the Sense interface from HTC is a bit simpler and cleaner.

The Samsung interface requires some tweaking and bloatware removal.

HTC has its own problems... certainly hard to compare with Samsung. The S3 was and still is a very good phone.

I was thinking the same, too much effort for too little.

Last one! now or never - yeah after Ebay fees, paypal fees and being harassed by a load of Africans it wont be worth it.

And the tax man oO
in my opinion the s3 was the worst phone I have ever owned.. I had it for 6 months and it lagged soooooooo bad.. it was unbearable so I sold it for 190 and bought a nexus 5 for 220 (eBay. best offer was accepted)

In case it helps anyone, the new Anker 40w 8A (black) version of their charger has been released in the US and Anker tell me it should be in the UK 'in 15 days'.

A much better device, higher wattage, no silly labeled ports.. Hopefully it will ship in white and black!
Its noisy when its right next to your ear but under a bed is fine.

Hmm, its a £360 phone - You are paying £123 for the contract, over 24 months - £5.12 per month. I mean its not SpecTACular but if you can get a decent data allowance for £5 per month then I would love to know about it.

I can't see why you dropped out of math 'O' levels; your calculations take a form never seen before on this planet. Maybe you should have gone for the PhD.

So far as I'm concerned, I pay an amount per month; how you choose to break that down is of zero interest to me. I look at what I pay versus what I get ... and I don't like it.

I'll leave you to play with your abacus, I have a phone call to make ;)

There is nothing wrong with my maths, although O-Levels were slightly before my time (passed GCSE maths with an A in 1992 if you must know). Still 12.99 delivery 1-4 weeks however always found amazon to be fairly prompt-
Press the 4 new button.
This is a pure bargain got mine today works well.

4 new from £12.99
Now £35.00.
This is the best on the market- Yes you do have to add an extra piece of rubber to mount to make it
Extra safe
The case looks good but not sure about the mount, looks a little flimsy to me. Not voted hot or cold.

I must agree with tek-monkey, I used deals sites all the time and have never heard of that site. I assume(d) he just found the bargains on the Curry's site and posted it.

why is this so cold? such a great deal, a contract with half decent amounts for less that £2 a month, yes you have to remember to do redemption but its easy and FREE to do.

I'm looking at upgrading my galaxy s2, what's the best between this iPhone and the galaxy s4.

My 2p:
Although the 5s will be superceded later this year (likely September) unless you get a very, very good deal I'd avoid buying an S4 now as common consensus is that the S5 may only be a couple of months away.

EE contacted me with a good early upgrade deal to an S4 recently, my current contract was a good cashback deal on an S2 but I still could not resist buying an N4 mid-term. I wouldn't knowingly buy a new phone contract when the handset will be replaced within six months again. (I knew that the S3 was not far off when I bought the S2)

2 year contract so the 6S or equivalent will be out by the time you finish paying for this.
with this logic you never go for contract you must be PAYG guy?

No I explained my logic in post #11. I don't like being tied in to 2 year contracts. If you add up the total spent over 24 months it's usually cheaper to buy the phone outright unlocked then get a cheap Sim Only plan with a shorter minimum term, it allows more flexibility.

Does anyone know if this is a 4G contract? Seems to be 3G.

Don't be fooled by the price Argos are offering and claiming you are saving £50. Orange are selling the phone for the same price.
http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/one-touch-idol-mini

Also don't mistake this phone for the Alcatel One Touch Idol S, which has a full HD 4.7 inch screen, 8MP Camera, 1GB RAM and only £129 from Orange, T-Mobile and EE.

Nexus162
Seems like decent specs

On paper the spec does seem OK, but there is however one major floor and that is the RAM... It only has 512MB!

To non-geeks this is the memory the phone uses to run applications and the Android operating system. You really need 1GB of RAM to run the phone smoothly and use the latest apps from the Android Play store. Otherwise the phone is likely to freeze if you run several applications and judder a bit.

To be honest the spec of this phone is no better than the Huawei Ascend Y300 which the Carphone Warehouse sells for £39-59 (depending on the time of day!)... The only difference being is that phone has a slightly smaller screen at 4 inches instead of 4.3 inches. In forums discussing this phone, even though people have been full of praise for the value, the lack of memory at 512MB has been an issue with users.

Dusty
Dual sim on some models.. wonder if this is..

There is no way T-Mobile will be offering this version as a Dual SIM.

why is this cold to buy the phone outright is £459 so getting this deal allows you to basically pay the phone off interest free each month then just under £10 for the minutes and unlimited data which is cheaper or at worst equal to having a Giffgaff sim ?

can someone please explain how this works genuine question not a techi i have lumia 920

The basics of:

You can think of the Plex App as your personal Netflix.
Where Netflix provides all the movies and TV shows for their Netflix app, with the Plex app you provide them via the Plex Server.

The Plex App that you get on your Phone, Tablet, Smart TV or even bluray player or streaming boxes (Such as the £10 NowTV box) all provide a nice interface with some blurb about the Movies and TV shows in very much the same way you get on Netflix. It also lets you rate the movie, and even remembers where you last got to allowing you to resume watching it later on... even if you're using a different device.

Plex Server is where the real magic happens though. You can rip a DVD, and as long as you give it the name of the movie as the file name, it'll go onto the internet, automatically lookup all the information about the film/tv show including things like the poster/dvd cover as well as the actors in it, year it was made etc, allowing you to find a movies by a certain actor or just movies of a certain date all from the Plex App. What's more, as long as you can play the file back on your PC, it doesn't matter what it is, be it AVI, MKV, MOV etc, Plex server will automatically convert it as needed when the Plex App wants to view it. So you can keep them 8GB bluray rips of your favourite films on your PC, stream them to your Smart TV in 1080 hd still and at the same time stream them onto your Mobile Phone.

If you don't have many movies or TV shows, or indeed you have home made movies from holidays etc, you can setup a share with family and friends, allowing you to view theirs or let them view your Plex server content. What's more, you don't even have to be on your home network to stream to your devices, you can be sitting at the Bus stop and be streaming your videos from your own or friends Plex servers.

That's a great description Si. I've placed most of my music, photos and films onto a PLEX media server and then access them through all devices round the house. iPad, Samsung SMART TV, iPhones and windows Phone and a NowTV box hooked up to the main TV. It's really good and saves having endless CDs and DVDs around the house. I found that by putting them all on a server, I actually start listening and watching my CDs and DVDs. Plus, being able to access all my stuff outside of the house is really cool. I've been waiting for this to drop to half price again on iOS but stumbled upon it being free for a short while on WP8 and snapped it up. Couldn't believe my luck.

To make and they sold them fir the same price.

Apple are already one step ahead by putting the chip in the cable
The Chinese knock off can't afford to make them.

No doubt be obsolete & non functional when the iPhone 6 comes out in May...........

The lightning connector won't be changed for years

You'll be surprised - a small change albeit in the shape of the connector would generate millions for Apple as your old chargers/ cables would be obsolete.

Do you honestly think apple are going to change the connector after spending
Millions on designing and R&D just so they can shift a few cables?

It's not about shifting a few cables. Amongst other things it keeps the manufacturer one step ahead of all the clone cable companies out there.

I don't think you have to spend millions on R&D in changing the shape of a plastic connector.

The cables will be relatively obsolete anyway as wireless charging catches up.

How iPhone Changed the Game

In 2007, having already revolutionized the computer and music player industries, Apple and Steve Jobs introduced the product that would come revolutionize the mobile phone industry. Initially met with contempt by competitors such as Blackberry, the original iPhone had sold 6 million units by the time it was discontinued in 2008.

iPhones Through the Years

The original iPhone design combined the functionality of a touch screen iPod, a mobile phone and a non-WAP based mobile phone browser. These are all common place elements in today's market, so it may be hard to imagine how revolutionary the combination of these elements was for the time. Apple followed up with the iPhone 3G a year later, which brought forth high-speed connectivity and an app store that would become the standard format for almost all future app stores. The iPhone 3GS disappointed most users as it included little more than minor upgrades in performance and storage to the already existent features.

The next major upgrade would come in the shape of the iPhone 4, with a flat design, a high pixel screen and an integrated antennae upping the smartphone game stakes ahead of competitors that were slowing catching up with the next generation of mobile phone. By the time the iPhone 4S hit the market, Apple's marketing had done what it needed to make sure the public knew that the 'S' was now a standard marker for 'minor upgrade'. Thus, expectations were limited, as was disappointment in the limited number of changes on offer.

The first offering of the seventh generation saw little innovation beyond a severely slimmed-down design. The plastic-backed 5C arrived a little later as an attempt at a budget version of the iPhone 5. It was an attempt to compete with the low-cost android phones that were now common on the market at that time. Once again, the 'S' version of the seventh generation focused on upgrading the already existing features.

The iPhone 6/6 Plus and 6S/6S Plus dramatically revamped the screen size and resolution and incorporated the new iOS 8. These built on the previous generation but also saw the introduction 3D touch technology, which monitors how strongly you are pressing on the screen. This opens some interesting avenues, particularly for mobile gaming. The latest versions to date are the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus which feature an all-new 12MP camera and is resistant against dust and splash water.

iPhone 7: Next Generation Smartphone

The Big Question: iPhone vs. Android

Is iPhone better than Android and, if so, is the difference big enough to justify the extra cost? We're going to look at a few key categories to help breakdown difference between the two.

The Apps

At this stage, there really aren't many types of apps on iPhone that can't be found in a similar form on an Android device. In addition, as Google offers more freedom and less restriction when it comes to app development for its platform, there is more to be had when it comes to Android. Yet it can be argued that this creates its own issue for Android. A great deal of Android apps are niche and appeal to only the most hard-core residents of Geek-land. In contrast, iPhone apps are designed to be easily understood by everyone and straightforward to use. Plus, developers of top apps still tend to publish their apps on iOS first.

The Performance

Viewed through a purely functional lens, there is not much difference between the performance and speed of the top Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge in comparison to the iPhone 7/7Plus. That said, you are still likely to experience regular jerks and hiccups in Android device performance. It may not sound like much, but when you are using an iPhone, you do notice the silky smooth fluidity. But this is, as often in life, a matter of personal taste.

Updates to the OS

A regular complaint for Android, but one that still makes a big difference when it comes to choosing. When a new update to iOS comes out, you will very likely have access to it on your iPhone immediately. However, with Android, it may be years before you'll see your device updated. If you are not salivating over the thought of minor and major tweaks to your current OS, this may not be too big a factor. However, if something big does come along, you may be left out of the conversation about it in the office canteen.

The Most Common Deal-breaker: iOS

iPhone users commonly quote the operating system of the handset as the main reason why they don't switch to Android. While there are few stand out features available on iOS that don't have something comparable on Android, the difference here is in usability and smooth interface, which has always been a hallmark of Apple design. Again, if you are just looking for something that works, Android will get you there. The difference is one that seems to underwrite most of the differences mentioned above; that is that the iPhone usually manages to get you there more easily, with less confusion and minimal frustration. However, it is not all smooth sailing. Examples of drawbacks for iOS include an overdependence on the use of iTunes for music purposes and the absence of a default on-board file manager.

Fast charging

Currently, iPhones doesn´t offer a quick charge function which a lot of Android devices feature. This means you can charge your phone for the day in a really short amount of time.

Which iPhone is Right for You?

Which iPhone you should buy will depend on what you are after and what kind of smartphone user you are. The most recent generations of the iPhone are similar in many ways but each version is designed to cater to a particular user group. For instance, the iPhone 5S is perfect for those who want something with the basic iPhone features and look, but at a lower price than the larger models. The iPhone 6 is ideal for those who want something that looks like the real deal but cuts down on thickness and price by stripping away some features. The 6S boasts every top of the line feature the iPhone can deliver, but with a 4.7-inch display rather than a 5.5-inch, those who want a phone for viewing videos and serious browsing may want to look at the iPhone 6 Plus instead. The latter is iPhone's first step into the so called “phablet“ market. The iPhone 7 brings in excellent performance and longest battery life ever in an iPhone. It is furthermore resistant against splash water and dust and features a

The Voice of Apple

Many people were blown away by Siri, the voice-controlled assistant that was unveiled in 2011. While not every version contains the software, if you are looking at older generations as a possible purchase, bear in mind that the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S all contain Siri.

Pros and Cons of the iPhone

There are pros and cons to buying an iPhone that you should be aware of before considering any version of the device. Here are a few of the most important.

Locked or Unlocked

Due to their significant cost, carriers that offer iPhones as part of a contract usually lock them to their network alone. You can usually get them unlocked by contacting your carrier but you will likely have to fulfil a particular criteria before they will do so. iPhones you have bought directly from Apple will usually be unlocked however it is always worthwhile checking this with the vendor in question before hand.

Problems with Batteries

There have been several high profile issues with batteries throughout the years when it comes to iPhones. You can bring it to a store to get it replaced, but in most cases it will have to be sent to the repair centre. If you are still under warranty, or the AppleCare extended warranty, it is free, but if you are outside the warranty it will cost you. If you are using an older iteration of the iPhone it may be more worthwhile putting your hard-earned cash towards a newer model.

Do iPhones Take SD-cards?

Many have criticized the absence of an SD card slot on almost all of the iPhones. However, while you can't use a card directly, you can purchase an adapter that will allow you to use a microSD card for memory expansion

Security

One of the major selling points for Mac has always been the lack of viruses designed to attack their systems. To date there are no documented cases of viruses for iOS. As time wears on this may change. However, it is certainly the case that iPhones, like other devices, can be hacked remotely. One way to lower your risk is the familiarize yourself with the kinds of hacking software that is circulating at the moment.

Functionality

Bluetooth: Though there has been debate in some forums on this point due to issues with the transfer of certain files, it is undoubtedly the case that iPhones support Bluetooth, though you do have to manually activate it in your settings.

NFC (Near Field Communication): As yet, no iPhone supports NFC functionality. Apple have instead opted for their own version called 'passbook', which relies on geolocation technology rather than the NFC chip.

Choosing a storage capacity: Choosing the right storage option will, naturally, depend on how you use your iPhone. If all you want to do is text, call and stream, 16GB version may be more than enough. However, weightier usage such as storing video, photos and hosting a large amount of apps may mean a large capacity storage is the best way to go. There are a host of device that fall in the middle of the range as well. You'll need to decide where on the spectrum you tend to fall.

Know What You Have Already Before Moving On

Deciding which model to upgrade to means knowing which model you currently have. If you have had it for multiple years, you may have forgotten which one you have. Identifying your iPhone model is pretty straightforward. If you look on the back of your iPhone, you'll set text in the format of "Model AXXXX". Match the model number to the number located on a checker page.

iPhone accessories

There are a massive range of accessories available for the iPhone. Which ones you will need depends on how you want to use it, but you can seriously expand the usefulness of your device by taking advantage of what is out there. For all you fitness freaks out there, the running band is a must-have. A great set of speakers will bring out the most from the music functionality. Waterproof casing is a no-brainer for obvious reasons. These are all old standards, however, there are constantly new and exciting extras being released for the device, so keep an eye out.

Where to Buy and Who to Buy From

You can purchase iPhones from Apple directly and their new iPhone upgrade program allows you to pay over 24 months, similar to carriers purchasing programs. Other major online retailers such as Amazon often offer competitive prices as well. Mobile phone service carriers are still probably the cheapest way to get your hands on an iPhone, though it will come with contract stipulations.

Upgrading effectively can often be a question of timing. If you got your phone from a carrier, they will likely have a set time you need to wait before being entitled to an upgrade, so check with them to find out what this timeline is. Also, it is good to keep abreast of upcoming versions, as you might find your iPhone is obsolete by the time you get round to selling it. For instance, the rumour mill has already begun on the iPhone 7 release later this year, so if you are packing an iPhone 4 or 5, now may be a good time to start thinking about offloading it.
