The grey one (for the Touch) will also fit the Paperwhite - I have both and they're exactly the same size - the purple one is for the Fire tablet so will probably not fit
the photos are unhelpful in the extreme, but at this price if it doesnt fit you won't be too upset :)

I thought the grey one was for the paperwhite? Is the touch a different model? Confusing seeing as the paperwhite has touch anyway. I just took it as a general case for all kindle models. They should make it clear if it can't be used with certain models of kindle.

Says it's for 6" so unless the kindles vary a lot in size it should fit anyway I would hope...

That was for the KINDLE FIRE HDX, this is the FIRE HDX a totally different model and a newer generation.

Edited By: BorisBlank on Jun 13, 2016 17:15
I got 2 of these last year @139.99 from Amazon but they had the 4g built in as well. So that's probably why.
Fair enough, thanks for the feedback. I still think considering this is the 4th gen version even if the price was 249.99 prior, 149.99 is an incredible price.
Well, immediately prior to the deal this morning, the price was £249.99, not £339.99 so Amazon are being a bit disingenuous there. If they'd discounted it to £99 it would fly off the shelves.

But ultimately, this is hotukdeals, where a deal involving 10p off aubergines in one store in Northern Scotland will get over 900° and 40% off a top-of-the-range tablet will plunge to near absolute zero.

Will Amazon ever learn? Making their elechronic shopping aid bigger (& dearer) does not make it more desriable

Nope!, the reality is, as long as us lot (the 'Public') keep buying into it?, then .....

There's everyone's answer I guess?, lol.
As someone who is an Amazon prime user and who uses Amazon a lot, I still don't think this is terrific value. Don't get me wrong it is not awful just "meh". The tablet should have always been about this price and as someone who already owns the 7" which is a handy little workhorse that I can afford to drop in a bag without worrying about it too much it does not have enough added value for the huge price jump especially as the specs are pretty average at best. Voted hot though as the saving is there if you are in the market for one.
Anyone found any of these in a London based Sainsburys yet?, thanx. :-)
Even if you could root this, the specs aren't great. Cold for me.
Ooooooo!!, I HOPE this goes the way of the Linx 8", & Linx 10" Tablets from 2+ Months back?.

Which started off at around £100-£150+?, then fell to about £80 odd pounds?, then FINALLY fell again!, to around £40!! (& all at Sainsburys too mind).

Hopefully in a short spell (Sainsburys 'Stocks' allowing ofcourse?), these Kindle 10 HD Tablets will also fall by the wayside & reduce in price like hell?!, hehehe.

Here's hoping ..... lol. :-)

It looks like they have some more in stock although hopefully they aren't the badly scratched ratty ones!
Well, I returned my heavily damaged Kindle for a refund. I would rather had a replacement, but they have nothing left in stock they said. Luckily I get the entire €13,- returning cost back, but the real question is 'when ?' Also, I'm never trusting 'grade A' refurbs ever again.

Joe013
I just received mine and it was far from a grade A refurb. The back deep scratches, the front was entirely covered by scratches and the worst thing of all was the broken power/sleep button, what makes it totally useless. http://s32.postimg.org/vls5eycb8/KINDLE_DAMAGED.jpg
I emailed zavvi and complained about mine being scratched and they offered a 15per cent discount- it was nowhere near as bad as this tho!

I could live with a scratched up backplate, but the broken power/sleep button makes it totally useless. I have to press very hard in a certain way by also putting pressure on the back of the tablet, and even then it does not register the push of the button 8/10 times. It's unbelievable this got a grade A stamp. I really hope they can provide me a replacement tablet.

Bear in mind, these may come with the adapter that Amazon have emailed people about. The standard adapter has a risk of causing electrocution when removing from the wall.
Also keep in mind that Amazon have recently removed all encryption from these devices so's to leave your data more available for thieves, hackers and government agencies (same thing). So if you were hoping for a device that you could use in conjunction with banking, businesses and highly confidential information which you wanted to take out and about with you this is a pi** poor choice to choose.

They have already U-turned on this.

Hello mate, its very easy to do plenty youtube tutorials out there as well.
What you need to do is download from the amazon firestick app store an app called
ES File Explorer
Then within that app navigate to the google browser and search Snes9x EX download then install.
Anything you download is at your own risk of coarse. You are better searching on youtube thats all i did.
its the same way using this method to get software called KODI on it which is used for films etc.

Need the Kindle Fire HDX for that, which strangely Amazon has backed away from, yet its nearly 3 years old the most powerful Kindle they have released to date.

Amazon have decided there's not sufficient money in the high end tablet market (plus people buying there don't want to be restricted to the Amazon world) but there is money with a "known brand" at the low end.

Why would anyone want one of these even in an emergency? That's what decent power banks are for!!

Agreed. However, a powerbank might already be drained if you're not very well organised. You can always walk into any shop and buy a couple of AA batteries if you find yourself caught out.

I've always got some AA rechargeable batteries charged around the flat somewhere, so I've got a 4 battery version of one of these. Very handy!

2 AA batts would only be 3V though, chargers are generally 5 volts...

It looks like the 2 battery version of the 4 battery one that I have, which does has a DC to DC converter and therefore gives a nice stable 5V output from 3V or less. :)

They're dead handy, and a bargain if only a quid, but there's some caveats:

1. In particular, if using rechargeables, note that these devices are not intelligent enough to cut out when the batteries reach 1V and could therefore deep-discharge your rechargeable batteries (which can cause them to fail early or stop them charging again.)

2. Also, they're pretty good at giving a fairly high current output and fast charging your device quick, which is a double edged sword: watch the temperature of the device and the batteries whilst in use and obviously don't leave it in the on state in your bag or pocket or anything.

Well, I got the game from amazon for free instead of google play. It is also available from amazon underground.
Hmm, just tried to get it on google play, the game downloaded for free but when I tried to "unlock" the game, it asked me to pay £1.79. Anyone knows what I am doing wrong?
I thought it was a free app. Thanks OP. Getting it for my mac now :D
Free on iPhone - thanks op.

Bought one yesterday - seems fine for 50 quid, I travel a lot in train - so wanted something I could fit in my suit pocket for watching films and occasional web stuff / email. Battery seems good. Netflix and Plex are good,

Advertising on turn on is annoying and not been able to find some apps like Sky Go, Chrome and Proper Youtube is silly.

So I watched this and followed it - within 15 minutes I have full google play services with a better Facebook, youtube and sky go. A lot more is available - does not affect existing Amazon functionality - and great thing is it removes the advertising page at turn on.

It is quite a snappy tablet - but for 5o quid it aint bad. Screen is a little small but better than a 6 inch phone screen for movies and occasional web.

Prob seems to be cases are really pricey - if anyone spots a case for under a tenner let me know...

Great post, I spotted the deal but had already pounced on an earlier deal for a refurbished lenovo. This will hopefully help anyone that buys it. Thank you.

Great value if its what your looking for. but when you consider that you can return it up 31st of January 2016 and get you money back you money back What other store would give you that? and you have 3 months to pay for it I have bought many items and returned one or two one being a very expensive camera only to find that it did not live up to MY expectation again once with a Carpet cleaner which was collected free of charge . its a shame that there was not more shops that could offer the same service as QVC

good deal.. seems cheaper than anywhere else and if you don't like it send it back.. what's not to like..fail to see why its cold. I've shopped at qvc for years and any probs with anything they take it back - no questions asked
don't know what the issue is with it being from QVC. Don't buy much from them, but why would you pay more to get less from Amazon.

Since this app was installed on phone, I can now purchase via the underground website on the PC browser... now I deleted the ap from phone, why?
I don't mind the permission, nor do I mind the budding salesman from underground dept coming to do my dirty laundry - I buy both side of the argument.
However, when I read the comment about any virus attack, that got to me - if I was a one of those criminal mastermind my number one priority will be a virus that targets this particular app!!
Anyway. I'm quite happy to purchase via the website, and let the app sit tight there until I need them, my MOTO G is running out of space - but it's good to keep them safe for rainy days ;-)

You can purchase apps via the Amazon website, however, if you want to install them on your phone then you will have to re-install the Amazon Underground app.

I haven't seen any comments regarding viruses, so I can't comment on that... can you please provide more detail?

I think the analogy of permission in apps is like this, before you have door to door salesman to sell you things, salesman only knows you from what he sees outside your house. Then the salesman gets permission to listen in your phone, then your security camera, your conversation and mail, access to your wallet, sockets in your wall, use of your toilet, do dirty laundry cleaning, do time and motion recording of when you open your fridge, when you put your kettle on, when youfinger or tip toe around your house or tablet...some then says, well I have nothing to hide, salesman is from a reputable company, has a thousand word terms and conditions that I have never be bothered with, so may as well have these freebies. By the way , permission to add an ankle tracking device to each one in in your house called advertising ID, but of course you can change your ankle tracker any time. Lastly, I introduce my buddy salesman to you, he is from our underground department, a special branch at Guantango HQ, special law on consumer protection there.
I assume that you don't actually use a smart phone then, because Google/Amazon/Apple/etc (depending on phone) have all the permissions they want baked into the OS.
Also, I don't think Jeff Bezos wants to know about when I use my kettle or go to the toilet (or finger around the house???), or even to eves drop on my calls, but I will welcome any salesman that wants permission to "do dirty laundry cleaning".
I think you need to reel in the paranoia... I don't think that the Underground app will be cataloguing your life.

I found it a while back,it does seem really good.I am seriously digging (liking) the games list examples you have provided it helps to pick and choose as there are loads of games listed in there it sorts the ggems out a bit.

Trying to install this on my sons Hudl 2, says it is incompatible.

I've got exactly the same problem.
Just downloaded what I thought was Grim Fandango (based on the app icon and screenshots). That'll teach me to not read the description!! It's a f**king sliding puzzle game, full of adverts, buggy and with a huge number of weird permissions. oO Uninstalled it quickly but probably too late.
