Well, I suppose its an idea. I buy a second fridge, run it and hope that my 59p oranges survive in it for more than 48 hours. After all why should we expect from a retailer a supply of a reasonably fresh fruit and veg. We buy it, we throw it in the bin as its too cheap to return and they are laughing all the way to the bank. A great way of ripping customers off "legally" - impressed with Lidls business sense, who care about their ethics :(

Sorry to spoil the party but the quality of the veg that's offered on those half price deals is not as good as when they are full price (at least not in out two local stores). In the past I had bought some sprouts that were rotting in the packet already, shallots that were very "spongy" and wilted and now for half the price I was "lucky" to get half of the pack of oranges - hardly a bargain, bought on Saturday and by lunch Monday that's what they looked like. 8 in a pack of which 4 are going in the bin. What a bargain !! :(
As its not the first time that a bargains are anything but, I though I shall vent out ;-)http://i68.tinypic.com/a29grm.jpg
If you have a fridge that's mostly used for fruit and vegetables and rarely used for meat and milk try setting it to a lower temperature most fruit and vegetables will last longer in a low temperature fridge. Don't try this method if you have meat or milk products in the fridge as they will go off faster.

First time I've seen the "Solevita Coconut Water". What's it like, anyone tried it?
Also, can anyone tell me from the ingredients what percentage is coconut water? Thx
To answer my own question, this stuff is rotten. No ingredients on the box, so who the funk knows what's in it!
Easy there's only 1 single ingredient ''Natural Coconut Water'' ''Never from concentrate'' coconut water nothing added, basically the title is the main ingredient, a lot of fruit drinks not from concentrate don't include ingredient list if there's only 1 type of fruit in the drink.
It's actually quiet nice justy got 2 packs today, not as good as vita Coconut Water which has added sugar.
UFC coconut water has ingredients stated as 100% coconut water, so no doubt what is in it. And it tastes 100 times better than this. Seriously, this muck turned my stomach and I'm not convinced it 100% coconut water. It has the unpleasant taste of unripened banana's.

Voted hot, but seems that LIDL started playing big supermarkets' game: I only checked for the ice cream and it works out cheaper if you buy regular package.
So how do you work out that getting 6 Ice sticks ( Mangnum equivalent ) is cheaper than 8 ice sticks, when the price for both is £2.09.?
Or did you just post on here to make yourself look silly?
In my local shop they were not at the same price and as per price tag, 6 packs were cheaper per 100 g.
It's funny how on this site that somebody always gets a deal that is incompatible with the truth. I buy these imitation Magnums all summer long and find that you get 2 extra for free on the XXL deal and the weight of each stick is still the same as each stick in a 6 pack, and the price for 8 sticks is the same as for 6 sticks. I've never known Lidl to reduce the size of individual items in a multi buy pack when on offer.
P.S. I am a weekly shopper at Lidl not a casual.
Not that I was too bothered but I found my receipt and I was charged £1.79 per 6 pack. Normally I wouldn't recalculate the price per 100 grams, as I would believe the price tag was correct. But in this case I admit that 8 pack comes cheaper with 3.7p per lolly, thanks for the correction.

Thanks very much (from me and other occupants of the building) for saving our habitat. I would have brought it to the ground with this one.

Thanks a lot for all the guidance.
I will check for the titan one.
I take it this one does not have the drilling capabilities apart from being oversized.

This appears to be hammer only, no rotation.

Manual here:- http://www.lidl-service.com/static/177179893/277023_EN.pdf

I've used a Bosch SDS Max drill, borrowed from an electrician with a core drill to fit a waste pipe through my dense concrete wall, it was way too big and heavy and too much punch for normal concrete drilling, and really tiring on the arms. He used his 500 watt sds plus drill for most jobs, which was light enough to be used single handed up a ladder.

I am tooling up with Parkside tools to learn a few DIY skills. I have been recommended these tools beginners friendly.
I was looking for something that will help me drill holes in the concrete. The DIY projects are:
1. Fix a TV mount bracket.
2. Fix the curtain rod at a place where the supporting beam is.
3. Drill a hole for a cooking hood chimney outlet from Kitchen to the outside of the property.
I am looking for suggesting if this tool will be able to accomplish this. I have looked around but there is no information is this tool can be used to drill. There is someone selling the tool with the drill bits but I am not sure. I would appreciate if more experienced ones can comment about it.

This thing is more for knocking a wall down not putting up curtain rod. It would be too heavy and cumbersome especially at height. Better off as others suggested getting something a bit lighter and user friendly with less impact. But this is good value for what it is.

Would this handle a shed? I am getting condensation in a wooden shed which i would like to combat. But perhaps it wouldn't fair well in the recent cold?

This is a compressor type. For your case you would want a desiccant type, which I've read it's more expensive to run

Should be national, it is part of the lidl social price drop... if you check there facebook/twitter... plus some stores still have them marked up as £10.99 however they scan at the reduced price.

Now reduced to £9.99 in stores that still have stock.
Just bought one. Build quality is pretty good, not too heavy but not cheap tat. Charged up fine, connected to iPhone Bluetooth no problem. First use, sound is better than expected with bass being a little weak but not tinny rubbish. lights are great for shower fun or bedroom boogie and work well. All in all good value. Thumbs up after first use.
Perfect to have on standby for when you accidentally pack a box of E's in your washkit instead of aspirin
I've had a go of the one I purchased and it's OK for the price.

The disco light has several settings to change the pattern order and timings, and you can of course turn it off. It reacts fairly well to the beat of the music.

The disco light is very effective and can light up a whole room. It can however be dazzling due to its brightness.

Build quality is on par with other Bluetooth speakers at this price point.

Audio quality is average. If you turn it up too high, the music distorts. However at a medium to high volume, it sounds OK. For the price paid, it's fine in my opinion.

I think these will be perfect for a child as a stocking filler or even an adult, providing that they're not an audiophile. People used to high end speakers would obviously not like this.

Comparing it to my small 2W Intempo portable Bluetooth speaker I bought a few years back for a similar price, the sound is not quite as good, but perfectly adequate.

The cheese with voucher deal is outstanding
Thank you once again for all your effort posting this marathon always appreciated :)
Lidl good prices. Terrible to work for
Aldi and Lidl tend to price match each other on these fruit and veg offers at this time of year. Other supermarkets may do so too, just a week or so later. ;)

I know what you mean about the wooden things OP, they are like wooden balls but they have a groove on the top that I think you put a drop of one of the oils in and then stick the ball on your radiator or something and it scents the room. I had considered the oils maybe soak into the wood or something through that groove but I don't know lol.

Your reply makes sense but your confusion makes me feel so much better that I'm not alone!

I've got the set and yes, you put a few drops on the wood and it's soaked up immediately. They are best on a heater but also give off some scent when they're cold
nice find op, will check it out tomorrow.

What's the best way to cook lobster? Also, do you serve it with the shell on? I'd love to try it ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/lobsterthermidor_73972 try one of the many recipes online. I try different variations but always get an amazing result at Christmas. Beware though it takes a long time to prep the lobster and it is true there isn't much meat in them, but the flavour is incredible if you get it right. A perfect starter!

It's frozen and already cooked. If you try this you will never look at lobster again.
Lobster should be fresh, it does not freeze well and these are well overcooked anyway.
It's like never having tasted steak and trying beef flavoured dog food
i disagree. it's how you prepare it. a decent lobster Thermidor will taste amazing wherever you source the lobster. in fact when I prepared two huge live lobsters from Makro at a whopping £20 each I was less impressed with the final result!
Are you drunk? Are you really comparing an overcooked and then frozen lobster with a fresh lobster.
You are insane.
Once prepared in a thermidoor, there is no noticeable difference. You clearlly can't cook ;)

anyone complaining about the quality of these have no idea and probably can't cook. get a recipe book out or Google some recipes and make some effort with a lobster for incredible results

As opposed to the hundreds of high quality deals you post.

Oh and it's Lidl btw.

Dumbo
Seems to be a national clear out before Xmas. I've found quite a good selection in both the St Helens & Golborne stores, all reduced down to £3.99 :)
Loads in Plymouth today too. Bought 30 bottles, mainly sparking Saumur, Champagne, Chablis and Bourgogne reds. Amazing price for this quality wine....cheaper than I've brought back from France. Assistant says is because of changing lines....so look for the orange price tags!!!
Bognor Regis Lidl yesterday evening. 15 bottles wine/champagne at £3.99 each, most reduced from £11.99. Missed out on red Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape but found 5 bottles of the white so hope it's good.
and also it doesnt say aldi....it says lidl lol

Whilst the comments on blade grinders being a bit naff are basically right they are only right when comparing to a burr grinder
If you use pre-ground beans from the supermarket and this is your first grinder then you will find it tastes a bit better.
If you buy fresh beans from an online roaster who roasts shortly before posting you will find a world of difference in the taste, even with a blade grinder.
If you then decide you really like nice fresh ground coffee then you can think of buying something like a Porlex hand grinder or even better a Made by Knock Feldgrind (but were talking 10x the price of this). Or something like a Bodem Bistro or Delonghi KG79 will do a decent job for brewed coffee if you dont fancy the work hand grinding.
But all that said, none of these options cost £10, and a £10 blade grinder with fresh coffee is way better than preground.
I have a Porlex and the grind isn't as consistent as the preground stuff. The finer you go the better it gets, but there is play in the mechanism that leads to varying sized particles. The handle attaches by a simple hex nut which always pops off when you are using it and it takes around 100 rotations for 8 grams (~1.5 mins). My kettle beats me every time.
The ceramic grinder part has a plastic insert. These fit together loosely and it fills up with old coffee grinds. https://youtu.be/s1ez3DIDcZc?t=28 The guy in the video has already cleaned it.

Preground coffee will always be more consistent than coffee you grind yourself. They use industrial roller grinders which have very good partical distribution.

However fresh ground coffee ground less consistently than stale pre-ground is much nicer.

Don't worry too much about variation in particle size when grinding coarser for brewed coffee. You can still get a good cup out of a Porlex like grinder.

Some of the prices are great I agree, but it worries me that it seems to be possible to grow a cucumber and get it in a shop to retail for 29p - is it not too cheap, or does nobody worry about that aspect, rather like not asking who is actually doing the labour to be able to sell jeans for a fiver ?
When it's a race to the bottom on price, somebody suffers, and in cases like this it is actually some of your friends, neighbours and family who suffer. We all have a good idea that most British born workers will not gladly work for the pay and conditions to make these prices possible, so in order to have cheaper goods, some Brits are out of work - through their own choice I agree, but shouldn't they be made to work, and the prices reflect the true cost of a fair day's pay for a fair day's work.........even if it means we all pay a fraction more for some things ?
Enjoy your shopping everybody :D
yawn yawn, everyones earning a few bob and goods are cheap,so luvleeee

When it's a race to the bottom on price, somebody suffers, and in cases like this it is actually some of your friends, neighbours and family who suffer. We all have a good idea that most British born workers will not gladly work for the pay and conditions to make these prices possible, so in order to have cheaper goods, some Brits are out of work - through their own choice I agree, but shouldn't they be made to work, and the prices reflect the true cost of a fair day's pay for a fair day's work.........even if it means we all pay a fraction more for some things ?
Enjoy your shopping everybody :D
