I'm not going to vote cold because of it, but I would never buy any sausages with less than about 85-90% meat - preferably higher. I think Tesco had some with 96% last time I looked. Proper yummy!:-D

Also, support your local butcher!:x
deanos;6834565
they may be tasty but they only contain 41% meat !

Ingredients
PORK (41%), WATER , PORK FAT (10%), RUSK , POTATO STARCH , SOYA PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, SALT , INGREDIENTS LESS THAN 1%: FLAVOURINGS, STABILISERS: DIPHOSPATES; GUAR GUM, ANTIOXIDANTS: VITAMIN C & E (E300 & E307), PRESERVATIVE: SODIUM METABISULPHITE, COLOUR: RED 2G., FILLED INTO NON UK BEEF CASINGS

41% "meat" and I wouldn't like to guess which bits:w00t: Here's some interesting reading. These sausages don't even meet the British minimum meat-content standards! That tasty tasty flavour is thanks to e-numbers 620-640.

41% meat???

u r right guys.,they should all watch this
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...ing_Food_Meat/
mike_c;6839639
They meet British minimum meat-content standards:

41% pork + 10% pork fat = 51% meat.

I make sausage at home and you find many posts that sausage only contain x% of meat some say 70% is not enough. To make a good sausage you need:
A: good quality meat & fat. usually 50/50 pork shoulder and pork belly
B: Rusk or breadcrumbs around 10%
C: water around 10% depending on the water content of the meat.
D: 10% spices, salt, pepper, sage etc..

A 100% meat sausage is called a burger. 70% is a good high quality one but you can make excellent sausage with only 50% meat if the ingredients are good.

but for £1.50 the richmond are ok i guess. i wouldn't eat them though :)

Make your own search google for sausagemaking. around £70 setup cost and away you go :)

+1

this deal is for about 50g of garlic butter

250g butter from asda for 50p and a few cloves. 2 mins work for five times the amount

and tastes much better as garlic will have been freshly pressed.
thanks OP ... hot price for this. We normally use a cube in all sorts, or on a baguette even...
Agreed home made can be better, but is a nice easy option if needing it in a hurry ..

I'm not sure anyone is going to see this as the OP is almost 4 years old!

RIKVENDMAN
If anyone is thinking of going into Morrisons to buy the tins of sweets, £5 each or 2 for £7 be careful as although the signs state maximum of 6 tins per customer, but when you go to the checkout in Liskeard Morrisons, it only allows 2 per customer.

I went in there last night and bought 6 tins okay, but when i went in there first thing this morning they told me over night the computer had changed it to 2 only but nobody has changed the signs

lol That will teach me not to look at the date. Thnaks :-)

sooo anybody confirmed this now the day has arrived?
Hot deal for those that like them, but i just do not like Goodfellas pizzas, as somebody pointed out Chicago Town are the only frozen pizzas worth buying imo.

Still gets a hot vote from me as it is a good deal for those less fussy about frozen pizza than me.
Good to hear...cleaned out the fridge of its last pizza last night. These deep ones a re worth the price. Goodfellas delicia are a bit pants.

Nasty cheap crap....

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/wine/article1575082.ece

So fizz it is for Easter, but whose? Every year, I wade through all the widely available and cut-price Easter bubbles I can get my hands on, including top-dog vintage champagnes. The 45 bottles I tasted this year were, thankfully, a better bunch than usual. Even so, there were some evil, tinny, green champagnes on show, for which there is no excuse, given the run of wonderful vintages we have had of late. So nuls points to Budgens' beery Louis Dubrince Brut, a £17.99 disaster.

i got this game at launch and it's absolutely hillarious. The voice acting is very good for this kinda game, and is genuinly funny. Good musical score too. Excellent gameplay, better on the big screen being a light gun game.

Fantastic price for a great game. I rented it and got through the first main game relatively quickly but there is a lot more gameplay left so I think I'll have to buy this one. BTW, fun with the regular Wii controller but MASSIVE fun with a light gun.
Great game, and even better with the gun.

It's like Tarantino and Rodrigues got together and decided to make a zombie video game. Brilliant script and cut scenes, and the one at the end is unlike anything you have ever seen in a game before and will never see again.

Had an arguement with a Tesco CS lady in Reading today - on the way in one of her colleagues said I could use it, guy on the till didn't know how to apply it, I walked over to the CS desk and a different lady said they won't accept it...I said I was told I could do it and he led me to the manageress (who was doing the crossword...working hard) who said I couldn't use it.

Wish Tesco would make their policy clear on this. Will shop in Morrisons for a few weeks as a result, no skin off my nose.

Tesco Beduff and Ricoh arena Coventry both accepting these. Had 6 cases of £10 beer in trolley at Cross point Coventry last night and 2 vouchers in wallet at the ready. Young girl on checkout said she couldn't accept Somerfield vouchers, I informed her she could and it would scan if she tried it. Rang her bell for assistance from a "manager" and an ever so slightly older young lad came over and insisted they were not taking these vouchers despite my protestations.I stood my ground ( whilst the queue built up behind me) and asked him to go check at the customer service desk. Lady came over from there and young girl on till informed store was accepting these vouchers, outcome £10 off already cheap beer. Do not take no for an answer, ALL stores are taking these. Most staff are misinformed.
:x A little late I know but I went to Tesco Gt. Yarmouth this evening and on my way in I asked at customer services if they would accept the voucher. Lady was helpful but had to ask another member of staff if they could. Their reply was NO!!!! But they would accept Sainsburys vouchers!!!!
Crazy!.......so I left rather annoyed as they have accepted all sorts of other stores vouchers in the past and proceeded to the nearest Morrisons. (Not a good move by Tesco on this occasion as I spent rather a large amount of money and found the staff much more helpful and produce quite competitve & good quality ) Tesco should beware and get their own policies in order before they lose a few more customers! I was quite impressed with Morrisons :)
I guess this is why I saw 2 N O T W laying around Morrisons today as we shopped. (free £5 voucher without buying the paper)
bulkomuff;6672395
Just to clarify, all Tesco stores take these £5 off £30 spend for Morrisons, Somerfield etc. so long as they are in date. The barcodes DO NOT scan, the checkout operator has to manually apply the discount, most of them don't know how to do it, that is why some people get refused.
Stand your ground and insist they take them, you will get a supervisor who knows how to do it.
They don't usually openly advertise the fact they take competitors vouchers, hence the staff are unaware and untrained in the process.

They have posters in the store saying they will beat any price offered at retail locally by 110% of the difference.

Just go to their customer service desk and ask them to price match against Morison’s. They will phone Morison’s to check the price and once confirmed they will price match.

I was told they would only price match at the currys i went too (metrocentre) and not give additional 10% off!! :x

Its quite expensive, but not crazily so. The main problem is there is no bulk buying ability, you can buy a can of beer for about 90p ish which is about the same as the UK, but if I want 10 cans it costs me £9.
Spirits I have noticed were a bit cheaper and since absolut is swedish it might be even cheaper, I will have to check.

edit: no need the prices are online

Doesn't Sweden have some of the most expensive alcohol in the world?

Ye, particularly beer. Spirits are not too bad though, our alcohol is priced by taxes theirs is whatever system bolaget (their only alcohol shop) decides to sell it for.
Never forget when Sainburys did the 1L Absolut's for £10 the Christmas before last, only a 1 day offer. Cleared the shelf and since then the price has continued to go up and up.

Should have lasted longer though.......!

Very nice description of your superb pot roast VDisillusioned, I appreciated it along with many others........some people on here don't know what good food is, they probably eat McD (sorry I can't bring myself to say it) every night. Rep added.

One word. Gross.

I wouldn't go that far but like I say the rind would have been better roasted to crackling in a separate roasting tin.

...though the skin in the casserole was lovely but a bit chewy.

One word. Gross.
Even though shoulder is a nice roast, roasted open style, I would recommend trying it pot roasted - totally melt in the mouth. We had the other day an aged freezer joint so I did it in a cast iron casserole over a bed of onion, mushroom, garlic, sweet potato, potato and carrot. Slow cooked and when done lifted the meat/veg out to make a gravy of the juices. Shock/horror I used corn flour to thicken with soy sauce and a few "secret spices" (actually I can't remember) Oh and a dash of cream left over from a previous trifle project. And it was superb, kids loved it, surprisingly :-) I would recommend taking the skin off to make a crackling in a separate pan,.though the skin in the casserole was lovely but a bit chewy.

Bit of a pain that the rice is all in one container :(

But can't complain at this price. Not amazing, but defo a bargain if you like this kind of naughty food.
Went in to the Reddish store this morning & they were yellow stickered down to £2.50 :)
For £4 can you really go wrong? I had one on Tuesday night and it passed the £4 test. But comming from the north east there are plenty good value take aways. You see,we have to use take aways as we have no pans or gas/electric! I blame the north/south divide! I do have 50Mb broadband and a pc. I use the light from the pc to read a book, which I borrowed.

Its not being a Snob.German Lager is brewed to a standard. Not a price.

I'm sure this is 1st hand experience you picked up while comparing and contrasting your various roles working in German and non-German breweries. What a stupid thing to say, I bet that's a line you enjoy saying down the pub to sound elitist and clever when actually you have no idea about the accounting behind the brewing of either German or non-German lager.

Besides, this is danish beer and they don't drink regular Carslberg they have "Carlsberg export" or as they call it "Carslberg". This Carlsberg is specifically brewed for the UK "and (possibly a few other countries I'm not sure). Also they brew a specific to Scandinavia lager over there called Carlsberg sort guld which is probably the best canned lager have ever tasted.

And yes, you are being a snob.
Golaboots888;6537824
Wow that's cheap. I prefer to spend a couple of pounds more and get some proper beer though.

Agree with that,

Crikey you must be true carnivores! I don't think I could even finish an 8oz steak!

Well I have had to BECOME a bit of a carnivore just recently... after 14 years of low fat, high carb eating.... I lost a lot of weight due to it, but it seems to have triggered off more problems than it cured over the past 5 years! My Insulin intolerance means I am now the opposite - and eating a Low Glycaemic Load diet, (much much much lower carb content) with more meat than I ever thought I could eat in a week every day! (Gets a bit boring all that meat actually, but the vastly improved wellness is making up for it!)

Still struggling with the thought of someone struggling with an 8oz steak though - my sister is 5'4" & 8st-wet-through, and could manage two!
nihcaj;6503834
Wow.. I would see that as VERY small appetites!

I would tend to allow at least 8oz per peson (raw) (for 5 it's 2.5lb so a good bit OVER 1kg) with stewing/braising meat, (it tends to look mean at even that level!) and wouldn't expect any left! Just imagine going out for a steak... an 8oz steak isn't very big and stewing/braising meat shrinks far more than that!

Crikey you must be true carnivores! I don't think I could even finish an 8oz steak! I guess we're all different. In my really penniless days I used to make spaghetti bolognese with 1oz mince (and a tbls of oatmeal:thumbsup:) per person!

Apparently the WHO recommended portion size of meat, for healthy eating, is about the size of a deck of cards - I guess about 4oz - one quarter pounder burger for example. That's probably the amount we'd normally have as a family although guests always get bigger portions!

I plan to make my £3.90 half shoulder serve me, my DH and DD. Luckily my second DD is a vegetarian so there's more to go round!
Agree that this isn't going to make a cheap family meal compared to other meats. Lamb probably never will! But it is my favourite meat and sadly for me, I can't often afford it. So when I can get it at a reasonable price I snap it up. More of an affordable treat than bargain, I guess.

Sorry should have said for 4 not 5, (slip of the fingers ). dont' forget the chunky veg and dumplings in stew filled appitite too, not sure how many oz of meat we each got tbh. checked with the other half, who spent ££4.70 on the braising steak. we had about two medium ish bowl fulls left, not sure how much of that was beef though!

Depends on the weight (and people's appitite).

My other half, got just under a kilo of l ean braising steak (£4.98 per kg) and made a delicious stew with dumplings, (with the help of Delia and a bottle or two of Ale in the pot). Easily fed 5 with some left over for next day.

No, no it's not. The general selling price of a 2 litre bottle is £1.69.

Or perhaps you're drinking some cleverly disguised cheap brand, probably called Pipse.

It's generally £1.69 buy one get one free i.e. around 70p per 2 litre bottle. Such offers are on all the time.

Recently Lidl had 2L pepsi max for 50p per 2 litre bottle.

Perhaps you should actually find out how much you are being ripped off at £1.69 per bottle.
rash;6489407
£1 per 2 litre is expensive. 70p for 2 litres is norm.
