Very nice description of your superb pot roast VDisillusioned, I appreciated it along with many others........some people on here don't know what good food is, they probably eat McD (sorry I can't bring myself to say it) every night. Rep added.

One word. Gross.

I wouldn't go that far but like I say the rind would have been better roasted to crackling in a separate roasting tin.
VDisillusioned;6550228
...though the skin in the casserole was lovely but a bit chewy.

One word. Gross.
Even though shoulder is a nice roast, roasted open style, I would recommend trying it pot roasted - totally melt in the mouth. We had the other day an aged freezer joint so I did it in a cast iron casserole over a bed of onion, mushroom, garlic, sweet potato, potato and carrot. Slow cooked and when done lifted the meat/veg out to make a gravy of the juices. Shock/horror I used corn flour to thicken with soy sauce and a few "secret spices" (actually I can't remember) Oh and a dash of cream left over from a previous trifle project. And it was superb, kids loved it, surprisingly :-) I would recommend taking the skin off to make a crackling in a separate pan,.though the skin in the casserole was lovely but a bit chewy.

Went in to the Reddish store this morning & they were yellow stickered down to £2.50 :)
For £4 can you really go wrong? I had one on Tuesday night and it passed the £4 test. But comming from the north east there are plenty good value take aways. You see,we have to use take aways as we have no pans or gas/electric! I blame the north/south divide! I do have 50Mb broadband and a pc. I use the light from the pc to read a book, which I borrowed.

Its not being a Snob.German Lager is brewed to a standard. Not a price.

I'm sure this is 1st hand experience you picked up while comparing and contrasting your various roles working in German and non-German breweries. What a stupid thing to say, I bet that's a line you enjoy saying down the pub to sound elitist and clever when actually you have no idea about the accounting behind the brewing of either German or non-German lager.

Besides, this is danish beer and they don't drink regular Carslberg they have "Carlsberg export" or as they call it "Carslberg". This Carlsberg is specifically brewed for the UK "and (possibly a few other countries I'm not sure). Also they brew a specific to Scandinavia lager over there called Carlsberg sort guld which is probably the best canned lager have ever tasted.

And yes, you are being a snob.
Golaboots888;6537824
Wow that's cheap. I prefer to spend a couple of pounds more and get some proper beer though.

Crikey you must be true carnivores! I don't think I could even finish an 8oz steak!

Well I have had to BECOME a bit of a carnivore just recently... after 14 years of low fat, high carb eating.... I lost a lot of weight due to it, but it seems to have triggered off more problems than it cured over the past 5 years! My Insulin intolerance means I am now the opposite - and eating a Low Glycaemic Load diet, (much much much lower carb content) with more meat than I ever thought I could eat in a week every day! (Gets a bit boring all that meat actually, but the vastly improved wellness is making up for it!)

Still struggling with the thought of someone struggling with an 8oz steak though - my sister is 5'4" & 8st-wet-through, and could manage two!
nihcaj;6503834
Wow.. I would see that as VERY small appetites!

I would tend to allow at least 8oz per peson (raw) (for 5 it's 2.5lb so a good bit OVER 1kg) with stewing/braising meat, (it tends to look mean at even that level!) and wouldn't expect any left! Just imagine going out for a steak... an 8oz steak isn't very big and stewing/braising meat shrinks far more than that!

Crikey you must be true carnivores! I don't think I could even finish an 8oz steak! I guess we're all different. In my really penniless days I used to make spaghetti bolognese with 1oz mince (and a tbls of oatmeal:thumbsup:) per person!

Apparently the WHO recommended portion size of meat, for healthy eating, is about the size of a deck of cards - I guess about 4oz - one quarter pounder burger for example. That's probably the amount we'd normally have as a family although guests always get bigger portions!

I plan to make my £3.90 half shoulder serve me, my DH and DD. Luckily my second DD is a vegetarian so there's more to go round!
Agree that this isn't going to make a cheap family meal compared to other meats. Lamb probably never will! But it is my favourite meat and sadly for me, I can't often afford it. So when I can get it at a reasonable price I snap it up. More of an affordable treat than bargain, I guess.

Sorry should have said for 4 not 5, (slip of the fingers ). dont' forget the chunky veg and dumplings in stew filled appitite too, not sure how many oz of meat we each got tbh. checked with the other half, who spent ££4.70 on the braising steak. we had about two medium ish bowl fulls left, not sure how much of that was beef though!

Charlie Brown
charlie brown;6503682
Depends on the weight (and people's appitite).

My other half, got just under a kilo of l ean braising steak (£4.98 per kg) and made a delicious stew with dumplings, (with the help of Delia and a bottle or two of Ale in the pot). Easily fed 5 with some left over for next day.

No, no it's not. The general selling price of a 2 litre bottle is £1.69.

Or perhaps you're drinking some cleverly disguised cheap brand, probably called Pipse.

It's generally £1.69 buy one get one free i.e. around 70p per 2 litre bottle. Such offers are on all the time.

Recently Lidl had 2L pepsi max for 50p per 2 litre bottle.

Perhaps you should actually find out how much you are being ripped off at £1.69 per bottle.
rash;6489407
£1 per 2 litre is expensive. 70p for 2 litres is norm.

Its not a ridiculous statement. I'm saying just dont bother voting... turn a blind eye. If its a brand that doesnt interest you because you've have a bad experience or dont believe in it, then leave it alone. Don't force your judgements based on your own personal experience on others.

(1) In virtually every listing for every product or service, HUKD users have added to the discussion with personal opinions and experiences; some are positive and some negative. Are you right and everyone else wrong?

t0mW;6459158
If I listened to everyone on here who slates iPhones, or of the many other things I've bought after ignoring one-sided arguments, I'd never find out the benefits of some of these products for myself.

(2) So you're quite happy for users to give positive advice about a product, but not negative? Does this not in itself lead to the one-sided argument that you protest about?

t0mW;6459158
I'm sure that the idea of the site is for people to post deals that have a significant reduction from RRP to help others.

(3) ...and I'm sure that you're wrong. The HUKD 'How it Works' section states that "The purpose of the site is to escape from the marketing messages and ads that surround us and get GENUINE ADVICE from other people about hot deals." No mention there about limiting ones' comments to price savings or positive-only propaganda...

t0mW;6459158
Someone out there may have a really high opinion of lexmarks, for example, based on their own experience, NOT YOURS, and they'll be really chuffed that this deal has been pointed out.

(4) ...and, should they wish, those who have "a really high opinion of Lexmarks" are at liberty to explain the counter-argument by adding their own comments that extol the virtues of this particular brand!

t0mW;6459158
If you don't like the product, just ignore it

(5) Refer to (1).

To sum up, do you think this item is currently at -68 degrees because lots of users have all found the printer at a cheaper price elsewhere, or do they just think it's a crap printer ...? How about you stop pontificating about how YOU want people to use the site and let us use it the way as it is actually intended to be used.
A mate of mine owns a computer shop and he said that Lexmark contacted him and said if he stocks their ink they will give him the printers free, as they make more money from the ink than the printers, he only stocks Epson compatible ink and he sell loads every week.
No8:
What a ridiculous statement!! From personal experience Lexmarks are of poor build quality, give poor print quality and are hyper-expensive to run - I'm NOT going to vote a crap printer hot just because I can't find it cheaper elsewhere!!

Surely, the purpose of this site is to help others to spend their money wisely, not encourage them to flush it down the crapper...+1

:thumbsup::thumbsup:[/QUOTE]
t0mW:
VOTE ON THE DEAL, not whether you like lexmarks.. cold voters. Unless you can find a cheaper one? I need a printer, will a cold voter let me know where this is cheaper? cheers ...

Re clone cartridges - with a lot of printers it is cheaper to run with clones even if you chuck the thing away after a few months. For Epson Inkjets may I recommend the very useful and free SSC service utility. http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Must use for the exact model - not available for very latest. Use with care - head cleaning is available for individual colours and other choices. Some options are a bit tucked away - right click logo on taskbar.

Can anyone confirm where they still have these? Have tried mansfield & retford with no joy. (Admittedly I didn't ask, but there may have been a fellow HUKD'er on the phone to Mansfield yesterday while I was there!)
Thanks picked one up today, had to ask as nothing on display
Thanks bought 3 in jarrow morrisons today- had to ask though as they were kept behind the entertainment counter. more expensive ones on display. Heat added!!
is this offer still on? does anyone else know where i canget similar card for cheap prices, i need about 2 gig and lotsof them
Bought one today from the Bulwell Nottingham store. They only had a couple left on the peg though.

I'm not going to use it for anything important though! The last one I had got corrupted & I lost quite a few assignments & had to redo them. Gutted!

I knew that Tesco were £6 for 2x10, see above. The Sainsburys offer is the best if their 2x10 for £5 offer is back on as you get 2 compos per pack! Cokezone & £1000 of shopping.
Tesco have the 2 x 10 packs on offer right now - for £6. So this is a better deal.:p

The 10 pk on offer in Iceland works out at the same 25p per can, but you can't get them any cheaper than that, so it's not an amazing price, but not that bad a deal.... however, if you want cokezone points (and I'm assuming they are only on the 10 packs), while Tesco's deal doesn't match this one, you'll be happy to know that Sainsbury's now have coke on offer, and it does. 2 x 10pk for £5, so that's now three places to guzzle your coke for 25p a can :)
Not that good a deal, the 2 x 10 cans for £5 at Tesco isn't on at the mo but is bound to be back soon, and most importantly of all... no Cokezone points on 6/8 packs!

**Update**

It appears to me that someone in Morrisons has read this thread :-D

Morrisons now sell 12 packs of MGD for £9 in England it was 3 for £18 last week but the offer is now ended! Don't know if it's a permenant thing or a one off but for the minute I've plenty of cheap miller :-D
me m8 told me they got a deal on in england but its not as good i dont know what the price is i think it was 2 x 4packs £7 so not as good as 15 for £7
ah well i was told by there cs they dont sell miller in england as it will not not sell but they will sell it for more just not the offer price
ah well dam them dam them all :)
maybe if we all send a note to there head office they will bring the offer to us :)
scooter
I certainly do mate, I used to travel up to Hawick, Dumfries or Galashiels & stock up when it's on offer up there. It actually works out a lot cheaper even when you add your petrol on top
Andy_Gateshead;6371312
This really annoys me as I love Miller but because I live in England Morrisons don't stock it! I've spoke to all the supermarkets about stocking the big packs of miller down here & they all say no. I've spoke to Miller brands & they say they just focus all their marketing in Scotland & therefore the supermarkets won't sell the big packs down here stating that as the reason!

You only get the 4 pack of 6 pack down here & they never sell it for less then 83p a bottle (brilliant)

Great deal yes but not if you live south of the border :x

You clearly like your MGD as much as me

Went to my local Norfolk store and they told me Scotland stores only!!!!!

Yep, same in Nottingham :x

Shame as this would have been ideal for the weekend. My fave lager.

They had 10 packs of Coors Light for £6 which also isn't too bad. The beer is not as nice though.

so are all these packs pretty much suitable for all the range? I bought the basic toothbrush with the dual clean heads and a load of spares. But these heads aren't that good actually. Not for my teeth. I have used someone elses with the single round shaped head on it, but they had a more expensive model and the power and probably rotation function was better and certainly cleaned a hell of a lot better!

I want to know if I should buy a pack of different heads
Nice find !
neilcaldwell;6324004
It most certainly does have an id chip within it
How do you know it's a chip though, as opposed to something else such as, say, a small magnet?

A good toothbrush is essential or else your teeth will eventually look like this:

Good deal for the supermarkets. But poor deal if you have an Ikea nearby.

Cans taste nicer, is it just me?

Just you? :-) IMHO the taste, especially the after taste, of the bottled product is much nicer than the cans but I could be tempted for both the smaller quantity container and half the price! Even in the can it's better than any of the other pear ciders I've tried.
popped in today and they had none gutted
Non in my local Morrisons but this is a hot deal regardless
brilliant thanks
I love this cider, and Morrison's isn't too far from my house. Will stock up on some lovely pear cider goodness. Heat added.
