I bought loads of these in a sainsburys sale as my first smart home purchase however with all of them the wifi and connection was flakey. Bought tp link smart plugs and they are much better. However £10 is a good price
Price will probalby vary by store, they have been reduved to £30 for a few months in my local store.
Basic On/Off socket £10
Insight version with energy monitoring £25
LED light starter kit £30
Definitely worth £10.
Hot. Paid £30 in Maplin when I got mine. Been after another but not paying £30 again.

I picked up the neon console with MK8D. These things go fast. Barnet had like 8 in stock and they're all gone.
beefkr10z
Seconded- I hated the look of the neon in all the pictures and ordered a grey Switch, but after seeing one in the flesh I regret being so boring. To this end, I've even bought neon coloured silicone grips- but it's just not the same...
Your right I didn't like the look of neon but when you see it in the flesh the colours are really bright and the grey is ugly as hell.

Tried buying twice with two different cards, had my order rejected twice. Are they out of stock, or what is happening?

Still a bit pricey for me, I'll hang on until they eventually come down (probably be a while!).

With a PS4 Pro I can't justify spending this type of money :|

how exactly does this work when you need to be a prime member ?
because you can get a free prime trial using a new email address and your existing home address and payment details, I've lost count of the number of Prime trials I've had and Amazon don't seem to mind.

Anyone else struggle with the motion controls on this game ? Much prefer using the controller method.
Very little talk about this game online. Not a good sign in my books.
Here to say that I bought it, but I haven't played it yet because I've been too busy with Zelda... just one more shrine.
Here to say if your buying mainly for single player you may want to wait. It is very bare bones unless you play with m8s locally or online.
Here to say the game is awesome - that's all. 8)

is Puyo Puyo worth £25? Still want something new for my Switch but is it just Tetris?

It's 2 puzzle games in one with lots of modes, it's great fun as a party game. Whether it's worth £25 or not is another matter but I was willing to buy it at this price.

I looked again last week in store, and it said I could order to the store.

Im not sure if your battery problem is the same but my switch prompts me that my switch is at 1% down from 100 after 1 hour play yet it runs on 1% for a further hour. And I bayonetta 1 and 2 have been recently teased from the developer on twitterhttp://metro.co.uk/2017/07/03/bayonetta-1-2-teased-for-nintendo-switch-6751886/
That is the exact issue I had. Only way to fix it is Nintendo either reinstall the OS or replace it. If you haven't done so already, contact Nintendo support and get it fixed.

Sure you can pay £20 and get a new one, if you can find any. This post was more about actually being able to find one in stock at all.

Can order Neon @ Amazon mate! In stock next week.

Forget about whether or not the system has enough games on it yet, the important fact is that for £20 more you can have a brand new model. When you're spending £260 surely an extra £20 is worth it for peace of mind?

Thanks. Can the bulbs be changed to the colour ones later on?

Yes they can be easily changed, if you want to change to full colour ones.

We have white GU10s in Kitchen and Dining room for when eating and bloom and LED Hue strips for low powered lighting to just give it colour when kids pottering around raiding cupboards and fridge. Bloom and LED set to motion so come on and off only when needed.

Be warned when you enter the realm of the Philips Hue, it gets very expensive quickly. Always best to jump on offers when available.

Its expensive but cant tell you how many products we have sold on behalf of Philips from friends and neighbours seeing it all in action
Thanks. Can the bulbs be changed to the colour ones later on?

Good price, cheapest its been so have heat
However as others have said the hue remote seems more flexible overall and is easier to use (simple click rather than having to almost hit the buttons on the hue tap!)
The hue remote allows simple dimming and switching through scenes, comes with a handy wall mount but can be used in the hand. The only advantage the tap has is not needing a battery and I think it can control a few extra scenes.
That's decent, didn't realise the dimmer allowed you switch scenes as well.
JellyFox1
It's not a dimmer switch, it's for switching between moods/scenes.

You can do that with the dimmer switch by pressing the on button several times as it then runs through the scenes you've set.

Edited By: sicklysweet on Jul 02, 2017 11:08: Edit
With the iConnectHue app you can configure the newer dimmer switch to do pretty much anything. Very very cool.

I don't see why you need to be so defensive about the switch. I've seen a few people on here act exactly like that as if only their opinion counts. If you like the switch and the games then that's great. The thing though is that a load of nintendo fanboys feel the need to overly defend their platform. They are great games sure, but the fact that the 2 games are on the Wii U isn't really a big selling point to get a switch is it? Especially given the cost of both the games and the handset. They are very valid criticisms that people are allowed to have. Frankly if the Wii U didn't flop so hard, I'd imagine more people would be critical of it being a port platform. The switch is starting to get newer games which is great, but people aren't wrong to have their reservations over an expensive platform that has low battery life, low storage, expensive games, limited portfolio where it's better to wait until you buy a switch if interested. The switch is a good platform that allows a good handheld experience that can be docked, but there are a lot of things that also turn people off from the device currently.Hopefully the games will start to drop in price. I don't really like how certain people try to justify the cost just because some of the games are good. Everyone makes games that attract certain people.
Dude, fanboys in general feel the need to overly defend their platform of choice. It's nothing new, and certainly not restricted to Nintendo. Go into any Sony or Microsoft forum if you want to see true vile.
Two of the games are indeed also on wiiU...The better versions are on switch. Microsoft and Sony better hope that's a good enough selling point or they're screwed with their midgen consoles. The switch of course has more selling points than that. Plus the wiiU didn't sell, and isn't getting future support. Both are valid reasons to port some of its gems over to the switch so that they may be enjoyed by a wider audience likely for the first time. Good games are good games. If they're on something else (which, let's be fair, 99% of games aren't exclusive to any console) it doesn't remove the fact that good games are on the switch.
I never said people were wrong about having reservations. Nintendo tax is well known. I think their pricing is shocking, and have already mentioned they don't devalue quick enough. But does that make a system worthless?

Well all fanboys that are very biased are annoying whatever platform they back. Even people going on about "PC master race", despite that being my most used platform since there will always be a place in my heart of the console gaming of my youth. Personally the switch gave me reason to get a preowned Wii U which I never do, because that actually had a variety of games including what the switch offered. I think there are people like me who are deciding to wait it out on the switch due to its potential and when it has a bigger, hopefully less expensive library. Though having said that, since BotW is £50 without DLC I may just wait that one out for if I get my switch instead since as you say, it will be slightly better. I decided to get one of the older ones on the Wii U for £15 new instead for a zelda fix. As for Mario Kart I don't think it really matters which platform you choose, switch if you have it, otherwise the Wii U is basically the exact same minus portability. I don't think the benefits of the switch justify the new platform for most people in itself quite yet.

Anyone else get a lot of satisfaction from dropping rocks on Koroks heads after you find them?
Or is it just me...

I love to do that! They all deserve those rocks on their heads :)

This isn't a bargain. The Euro price is €19.99. Convert this from Sterling into Euro and it comes to €19.21, plus you never get the full value from these shops, add in a bank charge for conversion and payment. You'll probably lose money by taking this offer up if you're outside the UK.

A friend who had been evangelising mechanical keyboards for some time recommended this turtle beach keyboard to me. I've had it since Tuesday this week and am quite happy with it. so a big thumbs up from me after 3 days of use.I did some searching around and found it really is quite hard to get a quality mechanical UK layout keyboard at this price point. It has a decent weight to it, feels nice to use and the build is solid and high quality. The design is pretty much is a no frills look, but to me function is way more important.I'm no expert on mechanical keyboards so can't tell you if it's one of the better ones, but I can tell you it is much much better than my previous non mech keyboard which was a corsair k30 raptor. If like me you don't know much about mechanical keyboards (well i didn't until recently) and assumed they are all loud and clicky, you should know there are different types and they are categorised by the colour switches that they have. This has brown switches and they are quiet, it sounds pretty much like a normal keyboard to me (although there is a bump when pressing keys it is quite subtle and most of the time i don't notice it). Hope all this helps if anyone was umm'ing and ahh'ing on getting it!

I was umm'ing and ahh'ing, so thanks!
Decent keyboard for the money as i have just had mine delivered on Monday and been testing it.
Keys feel lovely and not too loud.
The usb ports can charge and power an xbox one controller.
Braided cable is too thick and tough so very hard to route the cabling. Also if you don't need the audio pass-through then they just dangle about as they can't be removed.

One major flaw in the ergonomics though. The keys sit far too high for a normal keyboard and because there is no built in wrist rest, your wrist and hand has to arch up to get over the keyboard. Serious RSI issues when gaming with this keyboard. Can't actually believe it has such a major design flaw. I noticed it within 10 mins of using it and it gave me a cramp in my hand after a few hours gaming.
Will probably be fine if you have some sort of wrist rest/pillow but for the mean time this has been relegated to being used for work and the Corsair Strafe MX Silent is back on the gaming rig.

I really want an RGB Cherry MX Brown but as one never used a mech keyboard I cannot justify the price, so getting the 600 as a possible stepping stone/test mule.

So basically if me and my fiancée played together and I had two sets of these, we can both play with a full set? Or would be have to half one set sideways? Sorry if I seem a bit dosey just not sure how the console works and I'm getting one in July haha

Yes, you would both have a set each, if you buy the extra pair.

Simple terms:
In the Switch box = 2 half size controllers (which make a ONE whole)
https://thumbs.candybanana.com/C8Z2SoQquIEDWT4fkwRywU7hdYY=/755x/filters:no_upscale()/https://s.candybanana.com/images/d4c6/2b77331e-6f47-47b6-bcbe-be392d14a7e3_switch_blueorange.jpg

In this Joy Con offer = 2 half size controllers (which make ONE whole).

You can also buy individual Joy Con, (good if you lose/break one), which you need to be see which side it's for, Left or Right.

If you and your fiancé want a whole/full controller each, you need to buy both.
However, a lot of multiplayer games out don't need a full set per player.

P.s. The plural for Joy Con, is Joy Con.

If I have one with the console then buy a second one, does that mean player two would have two controllers to use or still be one each sideways?

You get 2 joy con with the console. (2 joy con make a typical full size controller).

When you buy more like from this link, you get 2 also.

So in total you would have 4 joy con, which can be used for 4 half size or 2 full.

Cherry MX Blue is a terrible choice for gaming. Good price if you need a keyboard for work and find the annoying click somehow soothing.
expand

It's a massive exaggeration. They are by no means terrible for gaming, but they are not as ideal as some other switches, I.e. cherry red and blacks.

Bit hazy on the facts now, so sorry if it's incorrect. The blue switches disengage at a higher point than reds or blacks, which means if you're spamming a button repeatedly, your finger has to do more work.

In practice, they are fine for gaming and if you do a lot of typing, the small compromise is worth it.

Now all the comments praising the price seems like people are talking about the new price when in fact they are talking about the the old price... very misleading! Not happy with Hotukdeals and it makes me wonder what motivations/interest they have to do this if it was intentional. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I rarely comment but I love the Hotukdeals' culture and community and I feel that this goes against it.
I agree the listing should be taken down and replaced - otherwise people are giving this product heat when it's been cheaper!

It's still a good deal, most backlit Cherry Mechanical keyboards of this quality are £60+. The OP has the price history in it, so I've no issue.

If it's that big of an issue, click the expired button yourself! cheeky

That is why link is provided but no mention if the Deck firmware will work or result in a bricked keyboard.
Waiting for someone who doesn't mind the possiblity of having to send a "DOA" board back to exchange for another.WolFishAntics was sent a dud board, maybe he is can try flashing it first.
Probably not worth it just for the extra flashing LED modes is it. Modes you will only look at once most probably
Also something to note - there is both a Hassium and a Hassium Pro from Deck. Unsure what the difference is, suspect the Pro has the LED features where the "not-Pro" doesn't. Couldn't find anything in a couple of minutes to confirm that however. The Impact 600 appears to be a modified Hassium not-Pro.

they have to pay the licence price Nintendo sets...which is why you see alot of Indies more expensive too. Can't even purely rely on the excuse of the medium these days with Nintendo. Love the switch but Nintendo always seems to get a free pass when it comes to pricing.

But so do Sony and Microsoft! I just laugh when I see games for £49.99 when they are £20 for the PC through CD Keys.

At least with the Switch you get portability.

I can blame Nintendo for pricing their own games so highly they set a precedent for others - and for allowing publishers to get away with this sort of villainy.

How you finding the Pro controller? is it much better than the Joycons? Just alot of money to shell out on another controller. So glad they went with the Xbox style and not PS controller, that thing is just a HORRIBLE design!

I absolutely love my pro controller. Comfortable and bigger buttons. Joy-Cons are still good but I didn't want to fork out the extra cost for a Joy-Con charger (I already knew I was going to get a pro controller, just had to wait till I got paid again to get it) and I didn't want to have to keep charging the switch to charge them.

They have the Splatoon 2 themed one coming out which is pretty awesome. Out of stock on Amazon but probably in stock in other places.

Graphics on this game are gorgeous, particularly on a decent PC.
Sold! Purchased now. Hopefully the GTX 970 in my little secondary gaming rig downstairs will push either high 1080p or low settings 4K nicely.
It will certainly give it a workout! At 4k/60 max settings there wasn't a lot of performance left over from my 1080ti! About 120fps at 1440p, which is nice but not really necessarily tbh its a slow moving game, nice to have the camera pan smoothly mind.
Just to let you know, using custom settings I've managed to get 3840x2160 at a locked 60fps, nearly everything on medium but anti-aliasing (which is mostly pointless at 4k).
Looks great. Seems like it's actually a pretty light game, seeing as this rig is a i3 4130, 8GB DDR3, and a GTX 970.
Perhaps there are some dumb settings bundled in ultra then that are really taxing.

nintendo switch logo Introducing the Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch arrived on March 1st 2017. After years of anticipation, the successor to the popular Wii U had finally arrived, but has it lived up to the hype? There’s no doubt that the Switch is an imaginative, ground-breaking gaming system, with a completely revamped controller and some of the best motion capture systems ever seen.

This buyer’s guide should help you decide whether the Nintendo Switch is the games console for you, and how to find the biggest Nintendo Switch savings.

Nintendo Switch: Impressive Entertainment at Home and On the Go

Nintendo has been releasing home entertainment products for over thirty years. Starting with the Game and Watch in 1980, they released the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985, the handheld Gameboy in 1989, then the Super Nintendo (SNES) in 1991. The Nintendo 64 followed in 1996, the Gameboy Colour in 1998, then the Gameboy Advance and the GameCube in 2001. But it was the unveiling of the Nintendo Wii in 2006 that really laid the foundations for the Nintendo Switch.

The Wii Remote was the first mainstream system to offer motion capture technology, enabling users to play tennis or join virtual exercise classes. It was followed by the Wii U in 2012, which refined the technology, making it more powerful and rivalling Sony and Microsoft’s systems in terms of graphical power.

Finally, in 2015 Nintendo announced that the Wii U would be replaced by the ‘NX’. It took a further two years of refinement and development until the Nintendo Switch arrived, representing a blend between handheld and home-based gaming systems that had never been seen before.

How Does the Nintendo Switch Work?

What do Nintendo mean when they say that the Switch is a hybrid system? Isn’t the Switch just another games console with a handheld controller that hooks up to your TV screen?

Actually, it’s quite different. The Nintendo Switch has three main elements that make it unlike any other home entertainment console.

The console itself is the first element. This can be hooked up to a normal TV and used like a Wii or a PlayStation. However, this isn’t the only way it can be used. If you want to use it with your TV, you can attach the console to the second element, the docking station. But it can also be used like a tablet anywhere you like (though you’ll need to charge it periodically).

The third element in the Nintendo Switch package is the Joy-Con controller. This peripheral isn’t like anything gamers have seen before. The standard direction pad and buttons are familiar, but the way that the Joy-Con attaches to the side of the console is less ordinary. By attaching the Joy-Con, users can turn the mobile console into a gaming tablet of incredible power. At the same time, the Joy-Con is adapted for wireless control and motion capture, and provides some of the most impressive tactile feedback yet experienced. It can also be connected to a grip accessory, turning it into a normal gamepad. It’s an impressively versatile piece of engineering.

Nintendo have come up with three different ways to use their console, all of them with different needs in mind:

  • TV mode - With the Switch attached via an HDMI cable to any standard flat screen TV.
  • Handheld mode - With the Joy-Cons attached to the side of the console, allowing you to play your favourite games wherever you go.

By now, the hybrid nature of the Nintendo Switch should be fairly clear. For the first time, a system can be played on large flat-screen TVs, both with wireless motion capture controllers and standard gamepads, or taken around the home as a mobile tablet. In theory, this makes the Switch a promising gaming platform and a worthy successor to the Wii range, but do its specifications back up the imaginative thinking that created it?

How Does Nintendo Switch Online Work?

Using the Nintendo Switch also has an important online element: The Nintendo Switch Online Ordering Service which arrives in autumn 2017, with trials starting from March 2017.

If you intend to enjoy multiplayer games on your Switch, this is the service for you. Initially free of charge if you have a Nintendo Account, it will become a paid subscription after formally launching, and you can expect to find plenty of Nintendo Switch Online offers at HotUKDeals when this becomes a reality.

Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online features a few bonuses for users to sweeten the deal. For example, it will feature a smartphone app, enabling users to organise gaming sessions with their friends. You will also get a free SNES or NES retro-download every month, as well as exclusive offers on Nintendo Switch content; so it will probably be worth signing up.

Nintendo Switch: Basic Specifications

As with all gaming systems, hardcore players will want to know a little about what’s inside the Nintendo Switch before handing over any cash. With that in mind, here are some of the key specifications:nintendo switch console

  • Dimensions: 10.2 x 23.9 x 1.39cm (when the Joy-Con controllers are attached to the sides of the console)
  • Weight: 297g
  • Screen resolution: 1280x720p, capacitive touchscreen
  • Screen size: 6.2 inches
  • Memory: 32GB
  • CPU: Customised NVIDIA Tegra processor
  • Connectivity: Wi-fi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1
  • Max video output: 1920x1080 at 60 fps (TV mode), 1280x720 (Tablet mode)
  • Connections: USB type-C, Stereo out, HDMI, Nintendo Switch game card slot
  • Battery life: Over 6 hours, with a 3-hour charging period

These specifications compare well with other consoles on the market, although Nintendo haven’t been forthcoming with detailed information about the CPU and GPU speeds. For example, the PS4 Pro has 8GB of RAM, well below the Nintendo Switch (and weighs about 3.3kg - much heavier). The only shortcomings of the Switch tend to be in terms of graphical performance. You can expect the PS4 Pro and Xbox One S to outperform it when handling first person shooters and other demanding titles. However, as these aren’t a staple of Nintendo’s range this probably won’t be a deal breaker.

What Nintendo Switch Bundles are Available?

Nintendo hasn’t just released its innovative new console onto the market on its own. Buyers can choose between a range of different bundles when making their purchase and it’s important to choose one that fits your budget and needs. Here are the major options:

  • The Basic Nintendo Switch Bundle - Comes with the Nintendo Switch console, the docking station and the Joy-Con controllers, and is available in grey or with blue and red Joy-Cons.
  • Legend of Zelda Bundles - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most exciting Switch releases, and is included in bundles of its own. If you want to save money on one of the console’s leading games, it makes sense to purchase a themed bundle which will often come with extra controllers and accessories like carry cases and screen protectors.
  • Mario Kart Bundles - Mario Kart Deluxe 8 is another exciting title (and great for families who want a fun multiplayer game to start with). Again, you can find bundles with extra controllers, which may be a good choice if you have a large group of children (or friends) who will want a piece of the action.
  • 1-2-Switch Bundles - 1-2-Switch is a great introduction to the features of the Joy-Con controller, as well as being a lot of fun. If you want to get the most out of your console and learn the ropes quickly, a bundle featuring the game could be just what you need.zelda breath of the wild

Always remember to shop around for bundles before making a purchase. Just because titles are bundled with the console doesn’t mean that you are guaranteed a good price. Often, you’ll find that buying the basic console is far cheaper. Then, by hunting around at the HotUKDeals listings, you can find cut-price deals on games like Zelda or Mario Kart, allowing you to pay far less than you would for normal bundles. So shop smart, and don’t be impulsive. You’ll probably find deals for the products you need if you look around.

Highlights from the Nintendo Switch Gaming Range

One of the key things about any console is the range of games available for it. But how does the Nintendo Switch measure up on this score? There are certainly some exciting games either available or on the horizon. Here are some of the favourites right now:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Zelda is a beloved Nintendo franchise and one of the most famous RPG series in history. The most recent incarnation sees Link battling against nemesis Calamity Ganon across a massive game world. In Breath of the Wild, Link has more terrain and dungeons to explore, more people to meet, enemies to vanquish and quests to complete than ever before. Universally praised, it’s one of 2017’s essential games and you can only purchase it for the Nintendo Switch or the Wii U. It’s a great reason for non-Nintendo owners to invest in a Switch. However, if you are a Wii U owner, there might be less urgency. Both versions are graphically similar and offer the same vast game world.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Mario and Luigi have been locked in racing contests ever since the first Mario Kart emerged for the SNES in 1991, and every version has offered new features and innovations. The 8th version was actually released for the Wii U in 2014, but Nintendo have produced a ‘Deluxe’ version for the Switch with extra courses, vehicles, weapons and a new battle mode.
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - A gaming sensation since its release in 2011, Skyrim is coming to the Nintendo Switch and promises to make the most of its immersive controls and mobile gaming capabilities. Now, when you enter the Elder Scrolls universe, you can continue to play whether you are on the beach, on the train or in your bed. With months of gameplay on offer, Skryim will surely be a Nintendo Switch essential.
  • Super Mario Odssey - One of the Top games is another exclusive title to the Nintendo Switch. In Super Mario Odyssey, Mario leaves the Mushroom kingdom and explores in sandbox-style the Nintendo world.

Super Mario Odyssey: Trailer

Those are three of the most eagerly anticipated Nintendo Switch titles and more are in the pipeline, including strategy games like Constructor, platformers like 1001 Spikes, and racing games like Fast RMX. However, while there’s a long list of scheduled releases, the actual selection of Nintendo Switch games is very small. Beyond Zelda and 1-2-Switch, very few games have been made available as yet, leading to sharp criticism of Nintendo’s development policies.

When the trickle of games becomes a flood (mid to late 2017), the Nintendo Switch will come into its own, with a focus on high quality RPGs, puzzle games, sports titles and racing games. But until then, it may be sensible for Wii U, PlayStation or Xbox owners to hold off. All their systems have massive game libraries and a continuing stream of releases. Even if they aren’t as technically innovative as the Nintendo Switch, that’s a big plus.

For Wii U owners, it’s also important to note that the Switch is not backwards compatible with your console. This means that your lovingly assembled collection of games won’t work on your new system and you’ll have to wait for new titles to arrive (or keep two consoles working in parallel, a clumsy solution).

3DS owners might also be thinking about making the "Switch" to Nintendo's new console. Should they do so? Possibly, but Nintendo has made it clear that the Switch is not designed to be a 3DS replacement. The 3DS is more compact, has better battery life and is lighter - all of which make it preferable for mobile gaming. So, if you already have a 3DS and only really use it on the move, the Switch won't really make sense unless you have the money and desire to use both simultaneously.

What Kind of People Will the Nintendo Switch Appeal To?

This is the really important question, but it’s not yet an easy one to answer. Why not yet? Because the full potential of the Nintendo Switch hasn’t become clear. It could be widely embraced and lead to a revolution in home and mobile gaming, or it could be shunned and overwhelmed by new Xbox or Sony systems.

Assuming the Nintendo Switch performs as well as the Wii and Wii U, it will almost certainly be ideal for families with younger children. Nintendo’s titles are always pitched at younger gamers, with less violence and gore and accessible gameplay. They are also usually excellent multiplayer experiences, making the Nintendo Switch a possible focal point for group family fun.

If you are the kind of gamer who lusts after death matches and multiplayer carnage, the PS4 Pro or Xbox One S could be a better fit. There’s little chance of games like Resident Evil or Call of Duty carrying over to the Switch, or similarly adrenaline-fuelled games being developed.

Graphically, the Nintendo style won’t appeal to everyone either. For some fans, Link and Mario are like members of the family. For others, cartoony visuals and quirky sound effects won’t cut it. Make sure you are the kind of person who is in tune with Nintendo’s aesthetic before making a purchase.

Accessories to Enhance Your Nintendo Switch Experience

One of the important things to recognise about the Nintendo Switch is the importance of accessories. You simply can’t get everything out of the system unless you have a set of Joy-Con controllers, the docking station and the cables needed to hook everything together, and not all of these accessories are included in basic bundles. Here are some vital accessories that all Nintendo Switch purchasers will want to think about:

  • The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller - Essentially a classic-style gamepad, the Pro Controller may be useful for experienced gamers who can’t get to grips with the Joy-Con system. Includes advanced rumble and motion capture technology, making it fully compatible with the latest Switch titles.
  • Joy-Con Charging Grips - This handy accessory allows to clip together the left and right Joy-Cons, and also allows you to charge those controllers during play - ideal for long RPG exploration sessions.
  • Joy-Con Straps - These wrist straps attach to the Joy-Con controller, making it easier to handle and protect from damage during games that rely on motion capture.
  • Carrying Cases - The Nintendo Switch console can be vulnerable to scratches and damage, particularly when you use it extensively as you travel. The Nintendo Carry Case provides excellent padding for users to need to play as they move.
  • The Joy-Con Wheel - This handy controller allows you to place your Joy-Con controllers in a steering wheel which you can then use in Mario Kart Deluxe or other racing titles, adding a whole new gaming dimension.

These accessories aren’t always cheap to purchase. If you buy a basic package, you can easily run up large bills by adding extra accessories on an ad hoc basis, so try to find combo deals or bundles that save money. There should be plenty to choose from at the HotUKDeals Nintendo Switch listings.

How and When to Make Your Nintendo Switch Purchase

If you’ve made up your mind to buy a Nintendo Switch, the next step is the crucial one: finding the very best deals around. It’s easy to pay over the odds for gaming consoles, even from reputable companies, so be careful when you choose your bundle.

The first place to look is the Nintendo website, not to make a purchase, but to double check that the Nintendo Switch meets your needs. When you’re certain that it will cut it, head over to the HotUKDeals Nintendo Switch listings, where you will find the latest deals from the UK’s largest gaming companies.

You’ll see Nintendo Switch bundles from GAME, Currys, Tesco, Amazon sellers, eBay merchants, Very and Smyths - with grey and coloured versions all available to choose from. Check for cheap Zelda bundles as well, as you can save plenty of money by buying the console and the game together.

Remember to search for bundles with the right mix of accessories as well. If you want to play with five people, you’ll need extra Joy-Con controllers. If you intend to spend hours on Mario Kart Deluxe, the steering wheel could be essential. Shop around, wait a few days and see which deals come up. You’ll probably find a saving that cuts the price of upgrading to the Nintendo Switch.

However, you may also want to delay for longer. Black Friday in November is always a great time to find gaming deals. By then the range of Nintendo Switch games will be far higher, while the online multiplayer service will have started up as well. If you are upgrading from a Wii U, autumn could be the cheapest and best time to do so.

Either way, you’ll find a constant stream of the very best Nintendo Switch discounts when you bookmark the console’s HotUKDeals listings.
