They're clearing out stock because the Complete Edition is out in a week or two, with all the DLC included.

I doubt it, they are not selling the Goty edition
cold it is not nationwide, hotuk should change the rules,

I rang the store I had reserved at and its still scanning at 14.99 so they cannot offer it for the £10

Exactly. It's not £10 nationwide; it's still officially £14.99.

I've only had one DS4 in 18 months, only issue I have is the battery life is starting to take a noticeable drop. You guys most really mistreat your controllers.
Replace the battery, really easy to do as long as you have a torx screwdriver.i got a 2500mah battery of eBay and battery life is a solid session!
Perfect my ps controller broke yesterday...

Shopto website is the so terrible BTW. I'm sure I had an account registered with them so when I try to login it doesn't even say whether the account exists or not and just takes me back to the login page without any message. When I try to register it won't work either. What a joke of a website.

BTW your grammar is the so terrible :{ I like Shopto - I have had alot of luck with their deals - Go Shopto! <3

Worst pad I've ever had they are absolutely terrible IMO. I've been through about 15 and every one has issues. The main issue is the analog sticks feel like they are going over a bump mainly when pushed up or down, they are also sticky and not smooth to move mainly on the left stick. Really surprised more people don't complain about this it drives me nuts.
I have problems with the dpad where its lost that clicky press for the left and down buttons and if I press them occasionally it moves by itself. Its so annoying. I think I've been through at least 6 of them now. PS4 needs that Vita dpad as that dpad was perfect.
The one I have now when I press R3 its like the first time I've pressed it every time, it feels like I have to brake it free if that makes sense. Also the Right trigger is so easy to press its like the spring is really weak which is not good for racing games. When I move the left stick its so damn sticky when moved from centre, again this sucks for racing when I'm making little adjustments its really distracting and just ruins it tbh. I hate this pad its just pure garbage.
Do you have the original PS4 controller or the V2?
V2. V1 wasn't much better I went through about 8 of those, had problem's with R2 and again the sticks. The main issue with V1 was the R2 been at about 80% sensitivity.. I only found out I had the issue on my first pad when I played Driveclub. DS4 is just a very cheaply made pad and V2 is even worse.
Damn! I still have my original pad with my launch day PS4 and still going strong and in great condition.
For me the DS4 is the best controller Sony has ever made. I guess we are all different though.
I'm with you. Never had any problems with any of mine. I have had several variants, colours, camo, black ops 3, over the course of the PS4's lifespan and none have ever let me down. One did start to lose the sharpness of a new one so I traded it into Game pricematching CEX for £30 having already bought and stowed a brand new camo one for £32 I believe - I miss the CEX price matching days.

Its definitely the most comfortable and egonomic controller Sony has made as the other PS controllers were awful but I'm not a fan of the overall build quality and the battery wasting gimmicks like the touchpad, speaker and lightbar. Other than that I am happy with it. I still remember how bad it felt using the PS3 controller as it felt like torture playing with that.

Starting to wonder if I'm getting the runaround with Argos. Ordered the white console with game and controller for pickup on Monday. Monday came around, but stock didn't update on my order, I checked customer service and they assured me I'd get an email/text when it did. It didn't change that day. Checked Tuesday, same thing.
Now, today, I can see the console in stock at my store, but is my order updated? No. Onto customer service where I'm getting told the same as Monday, i.e. it will be available when it comes from the warehouse. Even though, if I order at the new price of £229.99, I can "collect immediately!" Getting very close to cancelling.

I got the console & the game - they gave me another game as a "free" gift but when I got home realised they had charged me for it!

Went back in and they took the free game back and refunded me. Today I'm supposed to be collecting the extra controller but I'm told this has been cancelled & refunded - no email confirmation though. If I haven't had a refund by the end of tomorrow then I'll be straight on the phone.

Just got my ps4 with horizon and control pad for £199 one came up last night so reserved it. Went to pick up All was going well media code applied yes free fifa 17 game yes. then would not go through on till and manager said no sorry cant use media code of hotdeals and no free game.

I picked mine up in Ashford just now. White PS4, Horizon and gold controller. The FIFA/RE7/COD deal came up but it wouldn't go through for free and the manager wouldn't comp it. Going back tomorrow to have a grumble.
Update to this for anyone interested:
I went into another Argos nearby with my receipt and told them about the extra game that I didn't get. They looked up the offer on their system and asked which one I wanted. It was really easy and friendly. Took five minutes.
So in total I got a White PS4, Horizon Zero Dawn, FIFA 17 and a gold controller, all for £189 (the media code went through no problem).
What exactly did you say at the different store? Did you say that the previous store made a mistake, or that they forgot to add the game?
Would like to try this myself but concerned that the new store will ask why i never brought it up with the previous store, if they did i wouldn't have an answer to provide them.
Thanks.
I just gave them the details of what happened. The store I picked the bundle up from offered the game but it wouldn't go through on their till so they said I should keep the receipt and talk to customer service. I did that (via the live chat on their website) and they said to take the receipt to a store and they'd give me the game. I was prepared for them to "computer says no" me but it was really nice and easy in the end.

Thanks, i gave this a go this morning but unfortunately it did not work for me. I might give it another go at some stage but i'm doubting i'll be able to pull it off myself.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yep, Gameseek just canceled my order citing "a quality control issue" with the product, which I see now is a perfect description of the company itself.

Just had mine cancelled too. Shame.

Haha! Genius.

Amazon Payments say they can't refund my £19.26 as the order doesn't show as cancelled to them, except it's clearly shown as cancelled on my Gameseek account.

That was some showing from Gameseek, almost simultaneously taking the money and cancelling the order. Well done, guys.

Used game controllers and used underpants, repackaged as new

I wouldn't but would you?

If factory sealed means repackaged and not sealed in the factory it was produced in and not the store selling then you have more of a point but I don't know how to prove this instance either way.
bouncy99
anybody want to buy some used loo roll, i have tons of it ;)

Is it factory sealed which would be relevant?
If factory sealed I don't see the problem. Yes... I would buy used loo roll and underpants if it was sealed and the reason is merely it's a returned item with signs to packaging not affecting product.
More snobbery means more deals for those with sense.
anybody want to buy some used loo roll, i have tons of it ;)
It's factory sealed and personally bought 2 off Amazon myself. Can't see one that's like new or newer for cheaper?

Product description says factory sealed like my previous purchases and all that has been done is the box has been damaged therefor can't be sold as new

Wait, you can charge the Dualshock 4 while you play, so how is this a thing?

The USB cable you get with the controllers are pretty short, so a battery pack could be useful if you don't want to buy a long cable you could trip over.

Personally I tried the Crescendo 1 battery pack (aka Powerpak 1) & also ordered a 3M USB cable. Found that the battery pack interfered with how I held the controller, so ended up using the 3M cable. Think I paid £9.99 for the now dusty battery pack, and £3.30 for the cable.

To be honest I don't even need the battery pack as I sit next to a socket and use an old phone cable to charge the PS4 controller, however this is a hard skin controller, not silicone, which is what I was after to keep my controller nice and clean.

I saw this earlier, but was concerned that they weren't legitimate.
They don't seem to have a top-down picture of the controller, which is a worry (they've sold knock-off DualShock 3 controllers in the past that replaced the logo on the PS button with something generic, which would have been a giveaway - so the fact that there's no photo of it here sets alarm bells ringing).
I would pay a little extra and be sure of getting the real thing.

I've expired this.. the company looks so dodgy after further inspection. Reviews are absolutely dreadful on some websites and a comment on their own website confirms this is an imitation controller...

"Ordered this controller from Dino Direct and was expecting a registered DualShock 4 controller. I received an imitation controller and was very unhappy. Please note that the vendor won't pay shipping if you have to send it back, and shipping items to China is very expensive from the US. You may be happy with this controller, but you get less than what you pay for in my opinion."

Still shocked there is no game bundles yet with the pro console. It's selling well but not ps4 slim numbers.
But ideally I'd want a great games bundle, different colour console (not a fan of black consoles.... but boring and typical for me) or a larger hard drive (save buying separately..
I don't see any larger drives being sold in the direct future, especially not the faster drives. If you want more storage, you should buy the 2TB FireCuda which is a faster drive. You can buy it for your current PS4, enjoy faster loading times and larger storage. Then when the Pro comes out all you need to do is to swap the drives and enjoy your Pro with the better loading times
I don't disagree with your choice in drive, but it does have its limitations as it only has 8GB of NAND, these drives learn what to cache overtime but as I said there's an 8GB limit, say your playing two different games with nearly 8GB of data to load, when you go back to the other game your back to standard drive speeds again.
I would probably still use one myself if I upgraded :)
Watch from 2.28m onward to see what I mean, or watch the whole video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hftHjOvcUtc&feature=youtu.be
I never get that comment "it only has 8GB". I mean, do you people honestly think that every time a game does a loading it's pulling over 40GB ????
That's not how it works at all. And for games where you die and repeat the same section over and over again such as Bloodborne, the increased performance is very very noticeable. It was a pain playing Bloodborne and Witcher before I got my drive, now it's so much better
Just watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hftHjOvcUtc
Edit: lol just found out you osted the same video
I was very specific with what I wrote, I said if they have nearly 8GB of data to load, I didn't say 40GB, I know it doesn't load the whole game.
Look, say your playing two games and one has a 5GB load and the other has a 5GB load then both can't be stored in the NAND flash in their entirety at the same time, if your playing multiple games then your not going to get the same initial load times when you load a different game, not in the same way as you do with an SSD, if your playing the same game every time then great its always going to be stored in the NAND.
Your example with Bloodborne and Witcher 3 are exactly where these drives work great, I actually wrote that originally but decided the post was to long.
So you're agreeing with me anyway.
Unless you swap games like a madman, you are always going to get repeated loads in pretty much every game thus the speed increase.
I bought Mortal Kombat X last week and all my fights were loading much much quicker than the let's plays that I've seen on Youtube

Yes I agree, but as I said originally it has its limitations, especially when compared to SSD.

Its not that hard to understand you can only fit so much in 8GB of NAND before its kicks something out to make room for something else.

I just like people to have all the facts up front, Seagate don't exactly advertise the actual NAND size.

is that not to be expected though? The Slim is down toward 50% of the price of the Pro and then you've been able to get a game or two thrown in... I don't think it a fair comparison. I see the Slim as existing (old?) tech re-housed in a prettier parcel whereas the Pro is a step forward. What would sales look like if they were the same price.

On a tangent, the Pandarone PS4 skin from Amazon is great. Well worth a few quid to make your controller more grippy and less prone to dreaded 'sweaty palms'!
This is £19.99
I bought a different one and it made it difficult to press the buttons, got my money back. This looks to be a better design .

Edited By: QuickProfits on Jan 28, 2017 14:49
Good deal while it lasted. Interestingly for anyone with Flubit Elite, it's still using the old price of £3.99 to base it's offers on, so might be an option for some, no idea if they will honour it though....

They are in stock, but the price is now £19.99 oO

How long is it going to take for someone to do a decent PS4 Pro deal?!!

I suspect it hinges upon the launch price of the XBox Scorpio (surely £399-£499).
No reason to drop the price yet but probably £250-£299 by the end of the year.

I am gutted I missed this deal before they put it up by £20. I sold my original 500gb white PS4 for £180 and the copy of Resident Evil 7 that came with this bundle for £40(I already had you see). So the new console and extra pad ended up costing me around £30 :)
Worth pointing out that you can get resident evil instead of FIFA and cex will give you £32 for it.

Just purchased one for use with Steam. Got a lot of lag with my existing Bluetooth adaptor (I assume one of these devices per controller has something to do with reducing lag), and I really want to be able to use the 3.5mm audio port on the controller.

If you don't want to use the audio port, the Plugable USB Bluetooth adaptor is supposed to be ideal for DS4

Edited By: stringsonfire on Jan 29, 2017 22:52: Who made this a required field?
I don't hate cables enough to pay for one of these. Re-pairing to the console again (I assume you have to) when you're done feels like more effort. You'd still need a cable for that anyway?
hero9989
This works out of the box with steam controller configurator as well as PS4 Remote Play. Far better experience than using a standard bluetooth adapter. Pairing is literally just pushing in the USB Adapter and putting your controller into pairing mode. Job done. It will work in any steam game including the touchpad.
Well work the money!
distracted247
Initially when I was researching remote play, I read that this is the only way to get the audio port on the PS4 controller working when the controller is used wirelessly with a pc.
However, further research gave such conflicting information that I never went ahead with the purchase.
I own this and have used it a lot with PS4 Remote Play app on my mac. I can say with 100% certainty that the 3.5mm audio port works in this environment.

Thanks for this.
No, I saw that. I offered the solution which is the application Ds4 Windows. This allows you to connect WITHOUT the USB cable. Which is what you wanted....
thanks!

The way players control their in-game characters is a crucial aspect of modern gaming, and there’s a wide range of different peripherals on the market. The PS4 has plenty of controller options, from the standard Dualshock 4 to specialist controllers for different types of games. All of them can be found at big discounts by checking out the PS4 controller listings at HotUKDeals.

PS4 Pad: Gaming Icon

The PlayStation controller is iconic – with its triangles, squares and circles on the buttons and the ergonomic stick. It’s been around for decades now, and it doesn’t seem to have changed a bit. But it has. The most recent iteration is the Dualshock 4, and it’s probably the most advanced gaming controller around. There are plenty of ways to buy a Dualshock 4, as well as other gaming controllers for the PS4, and this buyer’s guide should make it simple to find the right one for you.

How We Got to the Dualshock 4

When the first Sony PlayStation arrived in 1994, one of the first things that people noticed was the futuristic controller. For example, the buttons came with shapes on them, instead of colours or numbers, making them easier to remember. The design also included elongated “Wings”, allowing the hand to rest easily for long periods. It immediately became a gaming design classic. Since then, the basic design has changed very little.

The rumble function and dual thumbsticks came along in 1997, then the first Dualshock appeared in the same year, upping the ante with a more powerful rumble sensation. But while these innovations were significant, the shape of the controller remained the same.ps4 controller touchpad

There were attempts to break away from the traditional form of the PlayStation controller, such as the Boomerang (which almost appeared with the PS3), but these were abandoned. In 2006, Bluetooth connectivity was added to the Dualshock 3, along with motion sensing features.

In 2013, the Dualshock 4 appeared, and it still hasn’t been superseded. Launched as the main controller for the PS4, it remodelled the handles (reducing the wing size) and added a touchscreen to the heart of the pad as well as a coloured light bar at the top of the screen. The thumbsticks were also radically improved, creating a more comfortable gaming experience.

The basic style of the PlayStation 4 controller echoes the very first PlayStation gamepad, but over the years, additional features have been added with every relaunch.

What Can the Dualshock 4 Do?

The Dualshock 4 has the standard directional buttons, two shoulder buttons, two triggers, two analogue thumbsticks and the triangle, circle, square and X action buttons all PlayStation players are familiar with.

ps4 controller share button It also allows players to “Share” replays or other content immediately by pressing a dedicated button, has an “Options” button to quickly reach menus (which merged the older start and select buttons) and the PS button to reset. The touchscreen can be used as a controller as well by moving your finger in various directions.

An important aspect of the Dualshock 4 was the introduction of wireless control. Instead of the Dualshock 3’s wires, players can now move around the room with their controller as they wish.

In conjunction with the PS Camera, the Dualshock 4 also has motion control functions, which allow players to immerse themselves in titles that support this feature. The light bar above the touchscreen communicates data to and from the camera and the console. The same light bar can also be used in some games to signify information like ammo or health levels by changing its colour.

Finally, the share button has been added to accommodate the needs of gamers who use social media platforms like Twitch or Facebook Live. It allows them to capture sections of gameplay footage and immediately stream them online to their viewers.

Different Versions of the Dualshock 4 Controller

The initial release of the Dualshock 4 controller came in two colours: white and black. But blue and red versions followed soon after, and now you can buy customised Dualshock controllers with a range of PS4 gaming brands.

Games with their own controller include: Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Batman: Arkham Knight, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Star Wars Battlefront and Gun Metal. If you are a fan of those franchises, having a branded controller is great fun (but the basic layout of the controller will be the same).

The Dualshock Version 2: Is it Worth Updating?

The initial controller was also followed up by an updated version in 2016. The Dualshock V2 ironed out a few problems with the first iteration. For example, the V2 (which is the version customers will probably find at HotUKDeals merchants) added better USB communication, lengthened the battery life and made the light bar more visible.

If you want to get the latest version of the Dualshock, make sure that you purchase a V2, as there may still be some older Dualshock 4 pads on offer both online and in high street shops.

For those who already own a Dualshock 4, the V2 may well be worth investing in. One of the major advantages is the inclusion of USB connectivity. While wireless gaming is more flexible, with a USB cable connected, you can power your controller directly from your PS4. That way, you won’t need to worry about running out of charge at crucial moments. You can also use the USB cable to transmit in-game data. As Bluetooth comes with tiny amounts of lag and USB is faster, this is something that hardcore gamers will really appreciate.

The first Dualshock 4 also experienced a few issues with wear and tear, most notably with its thumbsticks, and this has been improved. So, if you’ve had your Dualshock for a couple of years, it’s probably time to update.

Another potential reason to trade up or upgrade is Virtual Reality. It seems likely that VR gaming will be the next big thing, and the PS4 Pro is capable of delivering VR level graphics. Sony have hinted that the remodelled light bar will play a major role in VR games as a tracking aid, so upgrading could be vital. Then again, if you have an older PS4, VR probably won’t be such an issue (at least until the PS5 rolls around).

Specialist Controllers for Various Genres of Games on the PS4

The Dualshock 4 (or the V2) isn’t the only controller you can use with your PS4. There’s actually a wide range of gaming peripherals that can make your experience even more satisfying. Here are some of the most popular:

  • The Thrustmaster T80 Racing Wheel – This racing wheel is designed to be used with the PS4’s large stock of racing titles, and will enhance games like Gran Turismo Sport, Need for Speed and Driveclub. It comes with a pedal set, 10 action buttons and a wheel with rubber textured coating for extra grip.
  • The Thrustmaster T150 Steering Wheel – a step up from the T80, the T150 comes with more powerful force feedback, making it great for rally titles like WRC 16 or DiRT Rally.
  • The Hori Tactical Assault Commander – an advanced mechanical keyboard, trackpad and thumbstick based controller that is intended specifically for use in First Person Shooter titles like Call of Duty or Battlefield 1.
  • Thrustmaster Hotas X Joystick 2 – a large analogue style joystick that looks like the stick of a fighter jet and will be the ideal peripheral for fans of flight-based PS4 games like Air Conflicts: Pacific Carrier or No Man’s Sky. Has plenty of specialist flight sim features like a detachable throttle, dual rudders and adjustable stick resistance.
  • Tactical Assault Commander Grip – a compact, handheld controller that allows you to manipulate FPS characters with one hand while using the specially supplied gaming mouse with the other. The mouse and touchpad both feature snipe and quick turn buttons, which will be ideal for Battlefield gamers.
  • Rock Band Rivals Fender – PS4 gaming isn’t all about blowing people up. Games like Rock Band 4 allow players to take the place of rock gods and show off their guitar-playing skills, but only if they have peripherals like the Rock Band Rivals Fender.
  • Street Fighter V Arcade Fight Stick – There are also plenty of retro controllers for the PS4, and this is one of the most useful. Although it’s designed for the Street Fighter V title, this fight stick can be used to play almost any PS4 beat ‘em up, including Attack on Titan and Mother Russia Bleeds.

Other PS4 Accessories that Could Enhance Your Gaming Experience

When you buy a PS4 Dualshock 4 controller, you don’t need to be limited to the controller itself. There’s a wide range of peripherals that can complement it and make your PS4 more powerful. Great options include:

  • Reytid PS4 2.4G Mini Wireless Keyboard ChatPad – A step up in terms of complexity, this chatpad fits into the base of the PS4 Dualshock V2 controller, making it easy to chat away to fellow gamers.
  • GAMEware Dual Controller Charger – If you need to charge more than one controller at the same time, this handy device is a must. It’s also great if you use PS4 controllers with a PS4 Vita, as the Vita can charge up at the same time.ps4 controller charging station
  • Dualshock Wireless Adaptors – These tiny sticks plug into the USB port of the Dualshock controller, allowing them to be used with PCs and Macs.
  • The Move Controller – These Sony manufactured peripherals enhance the motion sensing capabilities of the Dualshock controller, capturing your movements with incredible precision.
  • Headsets – Many multiplayer games involve close teamwork, and headsets have become a must for serious gamers. Why not combine a PS4 controller purchase with one of the leading headset brands like Gioteck, Turtle Beach or Afterglow?
  • Mini accessories for your PS4 controller – There are also plenty of smaller accessories that make great gift ideas for PS4 fans, including thumb grips, charging cables, HDMI cables and docking stations.

What to Think About Before Buying a PS4 Controller

Updating to a Dualshock 4 V2 could well make your PS4 playing experience more enjoyable, but is it essential if you have an older controller? Much depends on how well your existing Dualshock has lasted. If the buttons and thumbsticks are in good working order, then you won’t really benefit from the upgraded design. But if your stick has started to fall apart, the more resilient V2 design will make a huge difference.

The new V2 model has also been released with the PS4 Pro in mind. If VR gaming takes off, then the rejigged light bar and touch screen will make VR titles easier to play (and they may well be written to make the most of the tracking abilities of the updated controller as well).

Then again, many PS4 players hardly ever use the touch screen and won’t be that excited about VR gaming. If that’s you, there’s not much point in spending money on a slight upgrade to what you already have. The older Dualshock 4 may well be cheaper too, another thing that’s well worth considering.

As for specialist controllers, that’s a very different question. If you love a particular type of game, it’s definitely worth considering purchasing a steering wheel or flight stick. There’s nothing like the authenticity of manipulating your rally vehicle with force feedback and actual pedals. As gaming becomes more realistic, it seems strange to stick with old-style gamepads when the real thing is available.
