If you bought from Tesco direct they refund the difference if the price drops within 28 days. Just do a live web chat online and they'll refund. (Or email them) I do it at Xmas, buy early December, ask for refunds on Boxing Day if any items are now in sale. Think you may need to be a registered club card holder though. Doesn't work on Tesco clothing, I emailed recently regarding that.

Also, if you need to buy any other camping stuff, there is a promotion for 20% off any camping gear on Amazon.co.uk when you spend £50.
as im new to camping i wouldnt know if that one you have suggested was a good buy or not just thought the ones i said seem pretty good but thanks for the amazon advice ive just brought my sleeping mats from there with the discount

Highlander make the bags for the army. Those Echo bags also get universally good reviews...and also exceed their stated temperature rating (some of the best performing synthetic bags out there).

Also, note the smaller opening for your head on the Highlander bag --- it is much better designed for retaining heat....and just a much better bag overall.

If you have a bigger budget, and want a synthetic bag, the Mountain Equipment Starlight series is a good place to start. & of course, if you have big money, then you can get a down sleeping bag (much lighter weight for the same temperature performance).

GoOutdoors sell the liners for these. See my post above and see this http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/vango-starlight-cocoon-sleeping-bag-liner-p292670
Thanks very much, but they're not exactly cheap at £10.7 (collected)

Try finding a cheaper one: I can't find any cheaper than that. Just remember it is bigger than the standard ones (and it's specific). I think it's a decent price.

There is no logic sometimes to how people vote on deals. With every deal I've posted it went cold first, then up a little and then down some more - as if it was going through a random number generator.

Just had a look and it's now positive! Ta! :)

If you buy it through Sports Direct.. and are happy and able to collect in store you can save on the £3.99 postage too.
Sports Direct charge £5.99 for delivery to store.

Well colour me stupid... I didn't actually check... as I'd assumed it was the norm (i.e. like Tesco) to make it free to collect in store. I'd seen the option when I was ordering (I got mine delivered). I'd understand Collect+ costing a bit if it was at a shop that's not a Sports Direct but surely they could make it free to go into their own store, especially as you're more likely to spend more when in store.

Doesn't make sense does it !!

Nabby that really made me chuckle x
I was going to buy one for my daughter but then realised it was for boys only. What a quandary. Do you think my daughter will not fit it due to anatomical reasons?
Go to TK MAxx , they have a wide selection of these gro bags for £12.
I wouldn't purchase this for the reason that it matched my childs decor - I would however purchase as its a great price for a2.5 tog which will keep my little one snug and warm and prevent her fidgeting in the night and I would sleep better knowing her legs wouldn't get stuck in the bars or like a quilt she would be able to pull it off or over her head. In the past similar dreampod bags I have purchased for at least double that price but each to their own it's not a deal to someone who may not have kids - no offence taken
And that is not a dig at the post or whether this is a deal or not. Its just a reference to how people in marketing, and obviously some customers, believe.

I was after the same, going to keep looking would be great to help a few homeless keep warm this winter!

Going to keep checking back, just in case they become available again. Absolute steal at the price.
I checked in my local Halfords earlier.
First they said they don't sell them, then they said the deals probably only on line. After they tapped in a few things they said it was not in there system they don't sell it. After I told them exactly what to type they found them, said oooh they're 2 no 1 pound - but we don't have any, in fact there is no stock left any where!
So i'm curious as to how others have managed to get/reserve them : /

That has a comfort limit of 1 celsius -- and an extreme limit of -21 celsius (can you see the difference OP between a POS and a quality bag?)

If that is too capable, go for the Highlander 250. Cracking bags.
Err. The comfort rating is +15 degrees. The extreme rating is 0. That means you'll probably just about survive the night if you're fit and healthy. ;)

Purflo sleepsacs are fantastic as they have detachable arms which really keep the heat in. Pricey but worth it for keeping small babies warm. I've had 3 premature winter babies and have used them for all....will be reusing again for number 4 in just under 8 weeks as she'll be early too and its bloody cold in December!

Edit: They also have good resale value and can be picked up easily second hand if you don't mind that. Sizings are different to the usual sleeping bags most places do and tend to fit a bit better.

So many people get put off by camping because they try it using rubbish gear. The difference between a budget basement tent and a properly constructed Outwell/Kampa or some Vango tents is night and day. Chuck the notoriously interchangeable British weather into the mix and it's no wonder people get put off camping.

Couldn't agree more, though Gelert make very good tents now too and get excellent reviews. I recently bought the Horizon 8 Supreme.
Gelert are one of the better budget brands but my last one (Horizon 6, about 4 years old) blew down. The fibre glass poles perished and became brittle over time and started snapping. Replacing the sections is a really fiddly job but having replaced those sections that did fail half of the other ones started going when the wind picked up. I don't think that's a Gelert thing though; I suspect it's a fibre glass pole issue.

If I were you in a couple of years I'd pick up a complete replacement set of poles and treat them as disposables. It put me off though, so I switched to a more robust (and much bigger) Kampa Croyde 8. Expensive tent but really worth it for the amount of use we're getting from it.

Thanks for your informative post. I have read about the problems with split poles due to them being made of fibre glass.
Thats probably explains why most of the second hand ones on ebay have been repaired with duck tape!

When the times comes I will definitely be looking at that Kampa.
