Any tips on the cheapest time to go flights and accommodation wise for a single traveller, I was looking at making a trip to Disney on my own sometime this year as I want to fully explore it all at my own leisure for once having visited several times in the past with family / friends and being rushed about because everyone argues about where to go and what to do!

Sadly I can't drive either so would be limited to staying near Disney which isn't a problem for me as long as I can find somewhere close by with easy public transport links to the Disney parks!

We went at the beginning of December one year and found it really quiet, Doing our research showed it to be the quietest time for parks. Plus everywhere looked lovely with all the Xmas decorations. Check out The Dibb website, full of great advice about Disney by mostly uk people.
Don't forget to account for the price of parking if you're driving yourself around. Last time we went it was $20 per day however the receipt from one parking lot will cover all of the Disney parks. As good as it is and as much as I love it, for a family of 5 Universal offers much better value for money.

The third/fourth week in September and November are generally the cheapest time in the year to fly to Florida. Villas and condos are cheaper than hotels if going in a party of 4+. Windsor Hills is the closest and generally the best villa /condo community for Disney parks although there are many many more. When hiring a car, Use Alamo "brits" discount page. Sign up to Groupon Orlando and make purchases of cheap dining deals. Don't Over Ticket at the parks.
Checkout http://www.thedibb.co.uk for loads of other tips and tricks to keep costs low. Don't forget to have fun. ;)

Excellent advice.

I went early May for 2 weeks with a 9 and 11 year old - IMO, the perfect age to really appreciate it. Both my boys were tall enough to go on all the rides which makes such a difference (too many sleeping children being pushed around Disney Parks). Both myself and the wife like the rides so it meant no standing about in the heat.

It's not just about the rides as all the shows and atmosphere at the parks is great too. Before the holiday I was sceptical at best but after an hour at Epcot on the first day I was completely sold on the whole experience.....

We didn't lay in bed - we were up early and the parks early most days - not a problem at the start as you are bound to be on UK time.

We used the water parks as rest days but they are brilliant fun too. We probably did 'over ticket' but using a park planner meant we did alot less queuing and managed to do everything bar Busch Gardens. Infact, the only day we didn't use a plan, Animal Kingdom, meant everyone was 100% onboard for using the planner for the rest of the holiday.

LOL - I've been pricing up a trip, it'll cost about £300 for passports, then £2014 for park tickets and that's before I get flights or accommodation...
Is it me or have the prices increased for everything?
Heat added btw, nice find!
Get flights 1st, that's the main cost, flights can vary from £550-£900pp. Villa, £1200, car £500, tickets £350pp or £240 for universal
I know - I'm looking at £10k and that's self catering and not including spending money!oO
Secret to Disney is staying on site, if you can afford it as the prices, particularly for the luxury places are astronomical which is why I bought a DVC Resale. However staying on site takes the experience to a whole new level. I always dismissed it as not worth it in my 20+ trips to Florida, but having done it last summer, I'd never go back so bought the DVC. The secret is get in for Extra Magic Morning hours. Plan the Fastpasses for when it starts getting busy about 11 You've already done half a dozen attractions by then. Use Touring Plans to utilise queuing data and plan the route. By doing this I queued for virtually nothing and was heading back for the hotel at 2.30 for relaxation before going out for something to eat. Compare and contrast to coming into the car park, having to queue to get on the monorail at the ticket and transportation centre, getting in the park when it is already getting busy etc.

Anyone know of the best value accommodation (will have car and already be in France - wanting to stop in on return from Brittany) nearby for 2 adults, 4 children? Davy Crockett ranch coming up over £1k (I know includes certain "perks").
The Explorer's hotel is great for kids, sometimes it's cheap, others it's expensive, but it's better than any of the Disney hotels we've stayed at.
Some of the campsites are ace too, staying in a mobile home (same as you'd get at Davy Crockett). Ignore the huge companies like Eurocamp and have a look at campingselection, selectcamp, suncamp, franceloc, vacansoliel - can't remember off the top of my head which have the best deals but it's worth a look. We stayed in one just on the other side of Meaux last year with happycamp and to be fair the caravan was a bit run down, but it was clean, the pool onsite was great, and it did the job for about 350 a week.

I've booked B&B Disneyland Paris hotel - gets brilliant reviews & was cheaper than the Airbnb apartment I originally booked in Paris.

Do people still visit this dump? If you do, you can look forward to long waiting times and a great scam designed to fleece you out of even more money for a priority queue jump pass with some serious restrictions.
That's the name of the game with virtually all these parks, including Legoland etc. I wish I was more principled to deny my kids going, but as with smartphones etc., it's only to a point!
Or as an alternative try the French take on it with Puy du fou - 2.5 hours drive South from Brittany albeit that wouldn't be a detour on returning home.

Hi Clara, Yes - the 8th of August is a Magic day so you would need to purchase the £43 one.

Completly agree with what both of you are saying. Unfortunatly, they have a captive audience once you're inside the Parks. I think at the end of the day you have to go in being prepared to spend more money and just try to look past all the money grabs.
Just make sure you complain if your kids don't get the 'magical' experience promoted in their publicity material.

Thanks Just ordered, cheaper than buying legoland by itself
LEGOLAND Florida 14 Day Ticket offers entry in to LEGOLAND Florida for 14 days.
Whether you want to ride the roller coasters, put out fires, learn how to drive or just see LEGO constructed in some of the most breathtaking ways, there is loads to keep curious minds occupied atLEGOLAND Florida. The LEGOLAND Florida One Day Ticket gives you a full day’s admission to the park and offers the chance to experience Orlando's newest must-see attaction.

I'd check with them before booking if it was something I was looking for/at?
Not really sure where you'd want to stay to do all of these, especially if Legoland is the 14 day use version of the ticket?
Legoland are building a load of holiday type bungalows/chalets next door to the park, literally across the road, can't remember when they open or how much they're likely to be, but if you've got smaller children and want to go to Legoland more than once (assuming you can?) then you'd probably want to be staying nearer to Legoland than International Drive/Disney area? (It's in Winter Haven which is about an hour+ away depending on traffic)

Haven't been to Legoland in Florida for a few years but I found it very similar to the one in Windsor, only hotter :)
There was/is a water park side to it which was a separate ticket and only open so many months a year, which is actually more expensive on it's own than these 3 together, if you see what I mean.

Last few times we've been, I've bought these Seaworld+Busch+Aquatica which has been enough for a couple of weeks for us.
These are currently around the £100 mark each but include the parking which can be up to $20 a day, if you're having a car? It always used to be possible to get a bus to these from your hotel, depending which hotel you're staying at?

If you want the Legoland pass (which is does state is 14 days again?) then this one seems reasonable? as above plus Lego and Gatorland at £125 eachish.

As always, shop around, check quidco and TCB before purchasing, might only be a few quid but every little helps ;)
All IMHO of course :)

Good find op! Heat from me. :P
Thanks. Probably 1 day for the price but it all helps to save money
pgregg
Note. Small print says "LEGOLAND Florida 14 Day Ticket offers entry in to LEGOLAND Florida for 14 days." Tho later it says "The LEGOLAND Florida One Day Ticket". Given the price, I would expect this is a 1 day ticket. Not a 14 day one.

Think again I got 14day pass for busch gardens, sea world and aquatica for round about this price last year via hukd on British airways website

Went last weekend and had a good time but be aware that the park is plagued by rides being constantly suspended due to various glitches with their sensors. The Ghost Train is particularly affected by this, being mostly unavailable for the two days we were there. Food and drinks are fairly pricey and the park needs a bit of TLC in terms of cleaning and painting as it looks a bit dated.
so i get to vote for someone that won't have a chance and go to a **** theme park great
Bit ageist isn't it ?
SmallSpender
Perhaps they are making an informed choice when not voting?
Impossible to know, though, isn't it? If they don't vote, politicians will assume they're never going to, and not bother tailoring policies towards them. If they were to register, turn up, and spoil their ballot papers, then at least the politicians would know it's worth trying to do stuff that these people might approve of.

Don't vote, don't complain that politicians are all useless. Of course they will be (for you) if they don't think you'll ever vote for them.
Think the PM probably lost a lot of young people with her bring back fox hunting debacle. Social media is killing her. Then again Corbyn not exactly down with the kids either but which leader is?

Felt like highlighting the Conservative manifesto promises a back track on rail fare freezes. All profits, and billions in rail subsidies even if you never catch a train, go to the Governments of France, Germany, and the Nederlands - even after we leave the EU - and they'll take even more thanks to the Conservatives wanting to privatise even more.
Whether you're anti or pro EU, it makes sense that money stays here and gets reinvested into our services instead of services abroad.
+1! I drove from Leeds to London, spent an hour driving around in London at rush hour, went home and only spent around £40 in fuel. How is a train more expensive than a car!? Not to mention the comfort, I had lumbar support, legs fully stretched out, AC kept me nice and cool, surround sound music, snacks and drinks were really cheap, not to mention I could stop when I wanted. All I had to do was wiggle the wheel a little!
Because fuel costs are just a small part of the cost of running a car - everybody forgets all the other costs, and they're not all fixed costs either. :|
I looked in to getting an annual bus pass to get to work, in order to weigh up options. I quickly dismissed the idea when I saw that it would easily cost more than the petrol alone, and my car isn't particularly frugal either. Add to that the advantages of not having to wait, put up with drunks and chavs and people playing carp music on their crappy phone speaker, being able to sling your coat and bag on the back seat without worrying someone will nick it etc. As I already pay MOT, Tax, etc etc it just doesn't make any sense.

Privatisation has just led to rampant profiteering.

The contracts are coming up for renewal and that's why May is eager to dispense of the fares freeze, so they are more eager to renew their contracts - as a couple of operators have just walked out on, or threatened to walk out on, contracts lately.

Of course, with VED, servicing, replacement parts, depreciation, MOT, insurance and breakdown cover, all of that equates to less than 10p per mile, with fuel around 8p a mile, so 18p a mile, total of £81 for the journey.
However I am already paying for the VED, MOT, breakdown cover and the majority of the insurance whether I drive 100 miles or 20000 miles, so that 18p a mile is a little inflated.
Taking a train under normal costs would have cost me in excess of £90, not to mention I don't live next to a train station nor is my destination next to one, so taxi or bus fares have to be calculated into that too. Oh and one final mention, I travelled on my own, that journey could have been completed with a full car, with only minimal increases in fuel usage, costing £22.50 a person.

It is a fantastic place to visit and we go very regularly. There's easily enough here to keep young kids entertained for a whole day. But as mentioned despite the park and enclosures being well kept the pens are very small for the animals they house (the white tiger pen for instance is only slightly larger than my back garden), which as a spectator means your always up close and personal with the animals, but it does leave you feeling a little sorry for the animals. I suppose you have to balance the conservation benefit of housing and breeding these mostly endangered species vs the individual animals freedom.

If you want a guilt free animal experience, my favourite Zoo's are Whipsnade and Durrell, with Chester coming a close 2nd.
The trouble is it is best to visit there on a sunny day. Most of the exhibits are out doors or you have to walk between each one to get to them.

Also the animals are not daft, if it is raining they stay hidden in their hut. There is a mini train that tours the park but does not stop at each exhibit.

It is very good exercise/workout walking all the way round. Just make sure you take spare batteries for your camera and a packed lunch and drink. There is a speedway museum as well there. Well worth a trip but better in the sun.
Although it's a good deal, I'm kinda torn with this place. I went a few years ago, and although it's incredible to see such wild creatures in the flesh (snow leopards, white tigers, etc), I felt so guilty when I saw the lack of space they had. Granted, it's not half as bad as some zoos, but I just don't think some of these creatures should be kept in 100m x 50m cages when out in the wild they would likely roam for miles and miles every day. Unless there is some kind of breeding programme going on, although to my knowledge, that isn't the case.

I won't vote either way, but just make sure you really appreciate these animals if you do decide to visit!

When we do ever buy these papers for these deals, we usually dispose of this paper straight away after cutting out the tokens. I would never want my kids to see or read anything from it as I know how damaging it can be for a child's innocence.
Do you actually need the actual vouchers this year.

Last year you needed 10 codes from the back of the newspaper.
Put 2 copies of the paper in your supermarket basket.
Take a photo of the codes with your phone/
Put the paper back

No money to the murdoch empire :)
Iv noticed a few people have a bad opinion of the sun newspaper. why? whats up with it?? personally I don't read any paper but if there is a freebie to be then why wouldn't you grab it?
Regardless of your feelings about the Sun, this won't be a good deal for many. Yes it's two tickets for a fiver, but you can't choose the dates you go...they're just given to you out of a selection of date ranges. This means it's unlikely to be of any use to people with school age kids, or anyone that doesn't have complete flexibility.
UncleWilly

Unfortunately every Sun deal on this site gets hijacked by the whining scousers, which usually means Sun deals get unjustly voted down.

I voted it down and the closest I've been to Liverpool is probably at 35,000 feet when flying from Glasgow airport.

Both the newspaper itself and its parent organisation are without morals. Wouldn't buy it if it was the last newspaper on earth.

All purely my opinion of course, if you're happy to put money in their coffers feel free to buy it.

Thank God I didn't get rid of my Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 ticket I went to see last week (epic sequel btw). Didn't consider going to Alien Covenant but will do so now I can get a free ticket for other movies later in the month and June. Heat added!
IMO - would you say Guardians 2 is worth viewing at an IMAX then?
imo superb film, the visuals look awesome right from the start and throughout, and I went to see it in standard 2D (because I arrived at my local Odeon an hour early on the 2nd May and didn't want to waste time waiting for the iSense screening, plus the Champions League semis were on the same day). The film also contained the 'biggest visual effect of all time' (will not spoil what it was). As I mentioned above, I went to see it in 2D and it was awesome, but your choice if you want to see it in IMAX.

Thats the full price. It acknowledges the offer, but doesn't actually discount. Maybe the discount is only applied when you get to the payment screen?

The NXT roster is pretty thin at the moment as they build up some new stars to replace those who were called up, but there's still some great talent to see. Asuka, Hideo Itami, DIY, Aleister Black, Nikki Cross are all tremendous so it should still be a fun show.
True, it's a badly timed tour unfortunately. Everyone you've mentioned is class, I like Roode too, but his brawler style isn't something I'd pay to see unfortunately, even if his intro is fantastic. Adam Cole "bay-bey" coming soon if rumours are to be believed...

Raw's about to get even worse, Strowman is out injured and Boreman Reigns aka Vince's bi***h aka 'the babyface who gets heel reactions' has returned because RAW stands for 'Roman Always Wins'.
Actually it's "Revenue Always Wins" and "The Big Dog" shifts serious merch.
If Reigns is the "big dog", why was he the bitch of the Shield?

I dunno. Cole just keeps telling me he's "The Big Dog". I'm taking his word for it.

No offense intended bud but I think you're speaking to someone who's more a footie fan than a wrestling fan...you might as well have spoken swahili or something haha
That's alright, long story short...

Strowman - a beast who's loved by the Internet Wrestling Community for being a great "heel" (bad guy)
Reigns - a guy who can't talk on the mic to save his life, pushed hard by the Chairman as a babyface ("good guy") yet gets "heel" boos everywhere except from uninformed kids and casuals.

Welcome to sunny Bournemouth. well it is today anyway . bye the way make sure you don't need the toilet when you're sightseeing this fab town because our wonderful council has closed most of them 8)

That's what I like about the USA, you can stop in the middle of the desert and there's a damn toilet there. I think in the UK because of the weather, people venture out less and so councils think they can skimp on stuff.

This deal is misleading.

The £21.95 tickets on the Gullivers Website relate to a special event over May Half term that includes food, however I contacted Little Bird who confirmed that this deal is for general admission only not the special event tickets.

General Admission tickets on the Gullivers Website (Warrington) are only £16.95 each therefore only a £1.95 saving per person.

worst organised festival I've ever been to. loads a folk left early year I went. been several festivals in uk and over abroad and would never consider going back to Iow. every year since I went they have been doing offers. destroyed their festival with poor management
It annoys me that a ferry to France is usually much cheaper than iow, when it's only a fraction of the distance.
