nice post. Ive just spent £480 I hope the £100 gets deducted later as it doesnt tell you at checkout or in your order email - but it does say to expect this.

As this offer ends tonight this is perhaps advise for future reference ...

When placing your order don't do it online - I just did so with an order of value £457 ie £357 after discount. I then got an order e-mail stating one of the items is out of stock reducing my order value to £430 ie £380 after £50 discount.

Was told by their call centre that it was impossible to amend or cancel the order and all I could do is reject the original order upon delivery and place a completely separate order with an additional item to bring it up to £450 ... seems a bit mad to me.

I should add, this problem aside, it's a good deal - thanks Vicky.

Perhaps you should remind them of their own term 5.1
5 Cancellation & Returns
5.1 You may cancel your order by giving us notice of cancellation within 30 days of the date of delivery to you or collection from a trade counter. Such notice may be given by phone, mail, fax or email or in person at a trade counter...
Also interesting to note from their FAQ's
How do I know if an item is in stock?
All products available for next-day delivery on Screwfix.com are ex-stock and available for same day despatch.

Doesn't apply to longer delivery items though

Be careful about allowing them to deliver the items first before allowing you to cancel as you may end up having to pay the return carriage costs. See term 5.2

Thanks Premier - I know from previous experience that not accepting the goods is no quick way to get a refund so I got onto the phone to them again, and again when the second call didn't lead anywhere.

Third time lucky - got to speak to someone who let me order another item effectively for free and is sending me a voucher to make my discount up to £100 - I'm ok with that as long as it pans out, though i still begrudge the mad scramble I had to make to ensure there were enough funds on my credit card to cover potentially 3 orders.
