Hi,

Even though this is a good voucher, I booked a holiday yesterday with Portland direct ( which is part of Thomson) and the price with Thomson was over £800 pounds cheaper for the exact same holiday.

This was to Turkey in a 4-5* Hotel on the 14th October 2007 (School Half Term) all inclusive out of Birmingham for two weeks Total price £1683 for a family of four.

Also got £42.07 back via Quidco

11 Jan 2007 Portland Holidays 1683.00 42.07 tracked ~ Mar 2007

Hope this helps save someone some money.

Me, I’ll never use T again.

20 years travelling abroad with no complaints. Then T dumped us into a nightmare situation and did nothing to get us out. Even when the local T rep supported our complaint big T couldn’t put there hand up and say sorry. Read all the promises in the back of the brochure – 24 hours to make you happy or we’ll fly you home – forget it, the words mean nothing!

Hours of letter writing, fought T all the way to arbitration – then only got 50% refund.

Never again Mr T.

Thanks for the advice about Portland. I rang Thomson up and got them to do a price match (just used Portland part of their system).
I was looking at a carribean holiday for next feb/Mar and Thomson was coming up with £3162 for a 2 week 24hr all inclusive 5* hotel during the easter holidays in 2008 for me , my partner and 2 kids. Once it was price matched I got it for £2682 then got them to put in the code whilst on the phone so got it for £2532 and also got necter points too! Bargin!

They also did the low deposit which both Thompson online and shops wanted me to pay £600 before the end of February. I paid £125 now and nothing else was required until Jan2008.

Hurray! to Portland - who just for confirmation is part of the TUI group (cheapest section apparently) and you can use all the Thomson facilities including the kids clubs etc.

Cheers all.

Adding to what Adrian2000 posted, in my experience Portland Direct has always been cheaper than Thomsons. Don't ever book with Thomsons without checking the Portland Direct price for the same holiday here

thanks for the advice about Portland guys!

Hi is there a place where you put your nectar card in ?

Would be good to use quidco and nectar.

Nectar .... ah just read:

Points are also not available on bookings made through the Thomson websites, and Teletext Services

I rang Thomson and asked them why Portland were much cheaper than going to Thomson direct especially since it was the same holiday -they price matched everything. Just use the number on the Thomson web site and give them a ring...it worked for me!
I then got the necter points.

I think you have to be cheeky in life to get anywhere these days.

Booked a Thomson Gold holiday online over Christmas, looked everywhere for a current discount code and found Anchor-sun1410, so received £50 discount - 2 days later stumbled across the code accidently for XDS100J and I would of received £100 discount - rang them twice to see if they could change my discount code but both times they said they were unable to do so. Now I see there is a code XDS150J and I could of had £150 off. I do so hate missing a bargain

Thanks for the code, booked a holiday for the inlaws, Portland was cheaper but only without the £150 voucher for thomson.

Just checked the holiday I`ve booked with thomson on the portland site and its £200 more expensive, still £100 more if I hadn`t used the £100 discount code.

Just to update my previous posting above - with the £50 discount incl. this made it an identical price to Portland. I think this is possibly to do with Thomsons not adding on the fuel surcharge at the moment. So if I had found and used XDS150J before booking the holiday with Thomsons it would of worked out £100 cheaper than Portland. Which does seem unusual.

Thanks for the update and Welcome to HotUKDeals mrsdee and all :)

Many thanks for the code.
I have used it today and was very happy to get the money off so I joined and have posted this so that others can try it and save.
The same holiday with portland was £200 more than thomson! So please do shop arround.
Cheers,

Hi guys and gals:roll:

Im ready to book a hol with thomson and tried using the code but they said i would have to "send it in" voucher i suppose.

Obviously im trying to get the code honoured over the phone but think that they will ask where did i get the code or what form does it take and wondered where did the promotion code come from, so i can say where and use it before the promotion ends tomoz.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice given.#Darren

the code is for online bookings only, Dazuk.

I just tried to use the code and it expired on 31/1/07, so if anyone else has got a current Thomson offer code I would very much appreciate it.
