Be careful about trading with Pixmania. If you read the Usenet you'll see that they have a very dodgy approach to their legal obligations over here.

They're a French company trading in the UK and they abide by French consumer law. If you buy something and it arrives fautly, they'll repair it but not replace it ... even if it came out of the box faulty. By UK law they should replace it but they say that they're a French company and don't have to. I rang them and checked and they confirmed this.

I actually sought legal advice on this from a city commerce lawyer who specializes in international trade and he told me that Pixmania are breaking UK law. Since their Web site purports them to be a UK company with UK phone numbers and no mention of their location abroad, they must, by law, trade under UK legislation. The trouble is that until someone sues them (a very expensive exercise) they will continue to dupe us. I won't buy anything from them, even though Amazon uses them.

I have bought something from Pixmania and it came with a European plug and when I asked about an english one they said they could send me one but, you guessed it, they would charge me for it. Says nothing about this when you buy from them. I would stay away form them if I were you.

An excellent case in point. By law they must provide a UK plug to a UK customer. I don't think you could find a better example of how they are trading illegally. What suprises me is that Amazon, which is a very respectable and responsible organization is in bed with them. Don't be beguiled by their supposedly cheap prices, you might well regret it in the end.
