£2 off £5 spend at BORDERS... better than 10% off Voucher!!!

Instructions:Just ordered a DVD with the 10% off code that's been circulating around, got email confirmation with this new code - ILLBEBACK - to get £2 off £5!

Tested it without logging in and it works! So it should work even if you have never ordered before or if you are a new customer.

A much better deal than the 10% off if you are ordering something slightly more than a fiver, or 2 or more items that make up a £5+.

"better than a 10% off voucher"
It depends on how much you are spending of course ( has to be < £20 )
It's up to a 20% off voucher i suppose...........
#2
True, if you are spending more than £20 then the 10% off voucher is better.
But for those looking to buy a book £5-ish, this is better than the 10% off.
Or even those looking to buy 2 £2.99 DVDs...

Yup.. you were right! :)

Except for the its up to 20% off... as if you find an item exactly £5, its £2 off with free delivery, so its more like 40% off/

giveme20 gives 20% off

giveme20 gives 20% off

£2 off is better if it's less than £10 ...
Plus GIVEME20 is 20% off RRP.

I'm pretty surprised, we now have 3 great vouchers for Borders, whereas before they had none! Anyone know if this is some sort of promotional push to get their online store better known? I had a gander at the prices of various books/DVDs that I was looking at, and in almost every single case Amazon, Play, or WH Smith online stores were much cheaper.

But these discount vouchers and the free shipping are tipping the balance back in its favour ;)

Nice code - anyone find any decent £5 or combination of £5 DVD's? Can you use this multiple times?
#11
Has anyone used the £2 off code and checked their confirmation? My confirmation doesn't show a £2 discount, even though it was accepted during the ordering process (and the order was over £5).

Yes I had the same, I placed my order, and during the process of checkout it showed the £2.00discount, but as soon as I submitted the order, the £2.00 discount disappeared and everything went back to full price. :?

I'm another one for whom the discount was present before checkout but it doesn't show on the order confirmation. However the Mastercard secure code box that came up was for the discounted price so I don't think they can charge the extra £2.00.

I have to say well spotted to the OP. I checked my previous order and the discount code is on the bottom. Totally missed it.

I went for this http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/356242/the-craft-collectors-edition-dvd-3-/ voucher seemed to work fine. Thanks!

Me too

I have to say the same thing happened to me too... I feel abit embarassed because it was my deal!!
But you are right, in the mastercard/visa confirmation box it did show the right price, just not in the final order confirmation email or in order history.
My item has been dispatched but the amount hasn't been charged to my card yet... so fingers crossed.
#17
PLEASE CHECK YOUR ORDER!

Mine showed £2 off through to final checkout, however email confimation showed full price. Rang customer services free phone 0800 1571577 and they said because it is discounted already, code does not apply. However they immediately said that they would refund the £2 taken.

Complained that code (the code is even resent on order confirmation) doesn't say anything about already discounted products. They agreed.

I said they might get a few calls today!!

Had same problem & called Customer Serv. who say £2 off only works on full rrp of books! I ordered book £10.99 rrp with their website price of £8.24 & went through checkout fine at £6.24 but confirmation email showed £8.24 & that is what I would be charged so had to cancel order. Also showing as £8.24 on "my account" - all this despite appearing to go through checkout at £6.24!!!
BEWARE TO ALL HUKD - £2 OFF ONLY WORKS ON FULL RRP - your email confirmation price is what will be taken from your card even if it went through with the discount at checkout. All Borders could say was sorry & offered to cancel so not as good a deal as it looks.
#19
Hmmm it seems the wording of their offer was very misleading. As per other "victims" their system did acknowledge the discount, & the discounted price was shown when I entered my ccard details. It was the confirmation email that showed a higher price :-(

In my case the RRP of the item was 5.99 so I should only be charged at the most 3.99. Despite this - my invoice is showing 5.09 which is the price they advertised.

I must admit their delivery was super quick as I received in the post the following morning. However, on a matter of principles I will be returning it & requesting a refund as I do not appreciate being misled :-(

I won't be using Borders again - though without any discount codes their prices are generally quite high in comparison to other online stores.

Cheers
#20
not expired as voucher just worked for me
[mod]#21
Has anyone actually had this code work?

As in, confirmation email shows the price you expected to pay?
#22
Yes, I have.
I just ordered the Baron Munchousen (spelling?) DVD on one of today's posts, from Borders.
The price was supposed to be £5 something and it got reduced to £3 with the voucher/code.
Got the confirmation email for my order and everything.
#23
dammit - confirmation email says £0.90p discount total £5.09

but at the bottom of email:

"Get £2 off your next order
Enter code: ILLBEBACK at the checkout to receive £2 off when spending £5 or more at Borders.co.uk. "

wtf? so Iv cancelled, stuff it
[mod]#24
So.......

Reading between the lines. It works.

But only on your "next order"

Is that correct?
#25
nope, it worked fine for me, 1st order

OK, as OP, I feel like I should clarify!
Apparently the discount code "removes itself" from the checkout process at some point, which is unfair as it applies in the shopping basket. 100% the fault of Borders here.

But I just called up Borders to complain about my own order, and immediately she refunded the £2 to my card, and said that it was a system error. At no point did she say that they screwed up with the voucher; I think it was the way the voucher was implemented into their online checkout.

I believe that if you use the voucher you will be charged the full amount initially, but call them up right after you receive the book/DVD and they will be more than happy to refund it on the spot. Worse comes to worse if they don't you should be able to claim back postage costs returning the item to them.

Can a moderator unexpire the voucher and add a clarification to the post?
#27
Yep - I rang up and as per previous poster got a refund of 2 pounds and an apology :-)

So if like myself you havent got free phone calls until the evening, you have to wait on a line calling them up to get them to honour the £2 off, the company is not worth the hassle in my opinion, not only are they incompetent with their money off coupons, they are also incompetent in order dispatches, never known a company so slow!

I have gone ahead and ordered mine, everything looked fine £3.94 but when I go back and check the status of my order it says £5.94 but says at the top 'yes' to voucher applied, all a bit confusing. :?

Fortunately it's a free phone number :-)

But I agree, my time is valuable & don't want the extra hassle - so I won't be ordering from them again.
#32
I saw a dvd I wanted the other day for just over a fiver but it seems to have disappeared off the site now...the £2 voucher would of been great.
#33
It knocked £2 off the price of two dvds for me earlier on, but it didn't come off once I submitted my order - Bah!

Dropped them an email about it though, as I can't really be gassed phoning them & explaining it.
#34
Showed as discounting the £2 on order, then took full amount from my bank. Not worth the hassle!
#35
I used this code a few days ago with my first order for two DVDs from Borders. Seemed to work fine with the order and the amount to be debited from my card included the discount. Didn't get any email confirmation of my order (which I thought would be a pretty standard thing) so when I checked my online account at the Borders website the discount had magically disappeared! As one DVD was still on order I tried to cancel the entire order but the website is useless, being only able to cancel the one DVD on order! I'm not sure what will turn up now, and how much they've taken from my account! If they have taken the full amount from my account then this seems extremely dodgy - won't be getting anything else from them!
#36
How many times can you use this code?
#37
Not worth the hassle for £2 IMO.

Borders CS is dreadfully understaffed. Had to call them twice in the last year (don't bother with email, it will take a week to get an answer if they even bother) and the staff were pretty good once you got through but it was 20 minutes on hold the first time and more like 40 minutes the other. I only persevered because I was at work, it is an 0800 number and I could leave it on hold hands free while I was working.
#38
i sent them an email on monday about this as they also charged me the full amount and not the discounted amount and have just got an email back mentioning a refund, also just noticed a second email saying it was due to a technical issue, so no complaints from me

Maybe they have improved... when I called them up a week ago for this issue they answered within a few minutes.

As other posters have said it is really not worth the hassle for £2 discount.

I was charged full price too despite the discount showing when I placed the order. I also never received an email confirmation of my order otherwise I would have spotted the problem and cancelled the order straight away.

I do not like being mislead - won't use Borders again.
