Wondered when this would get posted... :-D

This sounds like a really good xmas offering from a very decent and caring company.I think i will partake in this very reasonable offer of goodwill.:giggle:
#3
hamleys website now explains why orders are not being processed and confirms that they are NOT short of stock!

how come my new order cannot be fulfilled using the new code?

no point in giving 25% discount if original toys not available
#4
Bear in mind that as part of the t&c of the Hamleys offering it does say on the e-mail that the discount code should not be distributed or otherwise used by anyone other than the recipient. Wanted to post this as as I'm one of the many many who were badly let down by Hamleys not honouring an order that they advised the Guardian that they would honour.
#5
Anyone tried combining codes????:giggle: :giggle:

I think this is a more than fair deal to be honest. They were well within their rights just to tell people to get lost for attempting to abuse their promotions*

Its as if people think they have a god given right to anything that they can swindle

free delivery code (NLFREE1206) still working but funnily enough not in conjunction with 25%!:whistling:

The delivery code actually works out more favourable if your order is small!

Not that I'll be buying off those thieving ****** who steal from the hands of small children at Christmas!!!!

Yes, beleive it or not the other codes are not working, or dont seem to be.
I thought I would try them out with the new one...anyone for 85% off...hahahaha
#10
Not really they dont work !!!!!

I put in a genuine order before the codes trick started(and a code one), this order has been cancelled too, paid by debit card and funds will take another 3-4 days to get back to my bank, but .. the funds are still pending in Hamleys system, so if i want to purchase the item again I will have to fork out a second payment to them before i get my refund back, I don't get paid till friday and last date for xmas orders from hamleys is today, NOT HAPPY (don't mind the code one as it was only £12 but the other one is a lot) grrrrrrrrrrrrr, daughter will miss out on it now.

Now.. people like you I do feel sorry for. The result of the dark side :pirate:

Have you tried contacting them? I would tell them what happened and explain politely that you have now been shafted by this big problem. Perhaps they will manage to do something good for you :) Fingers crossed

I aint happy either no Fast Talking McQueen, No steam along Thomas, and no Pony :'(

No chance im paying full whack, if you look aswell Jan 18th is the last date for it to be used so Jan sales will get merked :giggle:

Hamleys had become competitively priced after 60% off.

For example, they've got the Subbuteo Dream Team Stadium for £34.99 when it's only £25 any where else.

I don't think 25% off is enough to shop with them.

Don't forget to go via rpoints!

hehe... :santa:

someone can use my email if they want to use the code

This is not the end of the matter

The ("VIKINGS", quote from the Guardian about us lucky ones who used the codes) will not let this rest

Assuming they have an online sale, we should be able to use these codes, right? It says with no other promotion, but this is not normally sales items?

Did any you guys read the article in the Guardian newspaper today about this site and the other Hamleys deal! it made me giggle :giggle: wow this site is famous now.

The link is here online too: http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,,1975206,00.html

I've just found out about Hamley's failing to honour their transactions - great - as I am away over Christmas I've no time to replace the presents that were ordered and now will not arrive until I can reorder in the new year - but NOT from Hamleys ever again. I'm not amused and will not be using the site and special offers again. As someone has said - if the original prices were competitive then fair enough - but they are more expensive than the average store - hence the discounts made them affordable - but not now!
#22
Can we stack the 25% codes onto the 40% and 20% and make it 85% off??

:giggle:

If you depended on getting presents from a misprice then you were very foolish indeed.

However, if you had ordered as a "normal" customer then I'm really sorry for your family but it's not really Hamleys fault.

I agree with REDONRED i certainly wont be using the 25% off code, just been to toysrus and bought what i ordered from hamleys and it was still cheaper and i even thing toysrus arnt competitive. its no wounder hamleys web site made a 3million los up to august this year, they are not really encouraging you to shop with them.
For those of you who wish to feel slightly spiteful thing of all the revinue they have lost over the weekend and this week because every thing was listed out of stock, though i imagine it was still cheaper then honouring the 60% off codes.:viking:

You should be more organised with your Xmas shopping...i have no sympathy whatsoever....why leave it till the weekend before XMas and at that leaving it last minute on the presumption you would get an amazing offer like this from Hamleys that was destined anyway to be cancelled......

Sour grapes im afraid.......:p
#27
I ordered a £10 item using the free delivery code (saving £5). Got an e-mail saying the item has been dispatched via Parcel Force.

Let's see if it turns up.

The article says "...promised to honour any orders made as a result of the blunder.". I thought this meant they would send out all orders.

There was an article in the London Lite paper yesterday evening which claimed that Hamleys had said they will honour all those orders that got 60% off because of their system problem.

Hamleys lied.

See http://www.guardian.co.uk/christmas2006/story/0,,1975756,00.html

Yeah they shouldn't do that - okay fine if they don't honour the orders (well actually i don't like them for that either) but they should not go and lie to the press - i for one will NEVER shop their again.

Anyway most people i know who do go to their stores just go there to look and play with the toys and then go and buy the ones they like on-line at about half the price - its the only thing their good for. LOL!

As as for the online shop well what's the point in that!!!!!!

it wound me up that they made comments to bbc and channel 4 news (that I know of) saying they would be honouring all the deals regardless of how dodgy the discount was.

So they got the good PR for the guy who apparently saved £7000 on a snooker table, but how about now? They are going 100% back on their word from the day before yesterday, to now say the orders have all been cancelled.

I think they deserve a bit of a slagging for being so quick to milk the publicity on this, but not wanting to count the cost of it now.

Threshers handled it better. We all know the mark ups hamleys and threshers take compared to the places we usually shop. MASSIVE discounts at places like that, are just working out the same as say, 10-15% the places i usually make orders from.

They should have just fixed their website, and honoured the existing offers. They probably would have broken even at worst on the offers.
#35
considering they're supposed to be the "MEGA" toy store, they dont seem 2 have much on there site?
#36
We win in the end,......well sort of.

Let me explain, last Christmas Argos (bare with me) took 1000's more orders than it could handle or had stock for and as a result let down alot of poeple. It seems that people remember this and as a result it's reduced their takings over the year.

So This means that whilst Scamleys have won the battle it may well have cost them the war :viking:
If the same happens it would be nice to calculate the ammount they would have lost from doing the right thing last weekend against a years worth of reduced sales?

Just a thought to try to cheer you all up.:w00t:
#37
I totally agree with chromo (hope i can call you that !!).

I for one will never be shopping there again, and yes I do visit the London store on occasion while working down there.

Errr....unless we come across some more codes ha ha ha ha
#38
made the scottish The Sun today aswell, even stated that it was a code for employees of Hamleys and there friends and family. Apparently they don't know whom posted the codes and how they got them. LOL
#39
Still going... :)

Just looking back through one of the greatest (Until Mike nicked it) deals ever makes me chuckle :giggle:
