I booked mine online this morning for the above price.

You can't get thicker than a Kwik Fit fitter

I did this last year and the car passed without any problems. HOWEVER I have heard they are a bunch of cowboys looking to make a fast buck out of MOT fixes. You takes your chances with this one. Hot from me in amongst a sea coldness.
#4
MOT is £25... but the labour for unnecessary work will cost you a bomb.
#5
You need luck on your side.
#6
AVOID at any cost... You will be amazed what they can find to repair even in a new car!
#7
If it fails, just take it somewhere else quickly and get your free retest.

http://www.kwik-fit.com/mot-re-test.asp

Most importantly though, check your car yourself before taking it - I mean, how difficult is it to check your own tyres, lights etc etc, you'd be amazed at how many people take their cars for an MOT knowing they have a problem.

i used this offer two months ago on my car and in october 2010 for my wife car...both passed without a problem...Although i am not a fan of kwikfit but i have to admit the offer is real...if you think your car might fail, it will propably fail in any other garage

Mine was fine when i used a similar off last year.

Not sure what someone working for kwik fit would gain by failing a car for no reason. Its not like the cash goes in the fitters pocket, and not sure the employye checking the car would be THAT loyal to a company that they would unecerasily fail a car. I think thats more likely to happen a local private garage where the money actual goes to the person checking it!

eh! kwikfit staff used to be paid comission on the amount of work they complete, had financial targets to mmet was a tv programme on it some time ago and not sure they have changed.

i used to use a local garage that offered similar offer and was a bit of a joke in the local area that they would always fail your headlight alignment and charge you a £10 to sort it if to get the full price of the mot!

Taken mine and the missus car to kwik fit for the past 2 years for MOTs and never had any problems.

I dont understand why Kwik Fit always get a bad press. Never had any issues with them before.

Wouldn't trust them with an MOT.
Last year I went for an AirCon regas on the recommendation of a few people and the promise that "all they do is connect the car to a machine and press a button. What could go wrong?" Was about £40. Supposed to take 30mins.

Took an hour. Everytime I looked over out of the waiting room, the 'machine' was either obviously not doing anything or they were all stood round in a circle staring at it (as if it was the first time they'd seen one). After an hour I was handed my keys and asked for £40.
I paid up and asked for the printout which showed gas in/out, temps, % improvement etc (as promised on the big poster behind him). "oh the printout was broken. sorry".
Went to test it. Felt a tiny bit cooler when I first switched it on but then instantly back to normal.

Went back in and asked him to do the promised temp checks for the "so many degrees cooler or your money back" promise.
"oh we don't have the start temp because the printout was broken. Sorry"

Absolute con-men with no technical knowledge more than unscrewing a wheelnut. Never ever again!

we used these last year (free mot with insurance) and passed. we always go to an mot ONLY garage that way you're less likely to be ripped off.

i used these and it passed, they also adjusted headlight height free and put a minor advisory comment about the exhaust may not pass the next test.

Seemed fine, cheap and quick service and friendly no mention of doing the work either could quite easily have failed it

How odd - the exact same thing happened to me.... They are definitely experts at finding expensive fixes once you are in the workshop;

Fitter - 'you can't drive the car unless you buy 2 new tyres'. Me - 'I only came in for an aircon recharge', etc

Haven't voted on the deal, but felt the need to comment on how crap KF are.

The headlight alignment gauge is used as part of the test and it takes almost no additional time to make a minor adjustment. An honest test station should not charge for this. You may have found an honest Kwikfit centre. Which one was it?

YOU WANNA BET!
My wifes car failed the MOT on a rubber boot on the steering, Fair enough £35.00 to fix it (Or there abouts) great. When she picked it up she noticed the steering wheel wasn't straight so took it back and they said the tracking will need resetting £25 please, She said no just put it back where it was before you changed the rubber boot but they were having none of it, So I took it in when the idiot counter boy was at lunch and got them to put it right and just walked out with the keys in my hand and thought "Take me to court I dare you" but heard nothing after. So after that expierence I will never ever use them again and I tell everyone I know what they tried to do with us and that includes 30 odd workmates who used to use them but not anymore.

Went years ago for one of their 'free brake tests'. Brakes were OK but apparently my tyres were 'lethal and illegal' as the 'rubber has started to crack'.
My mate was a traffic copper. Had a look at them. Absolutely nothing wrong with em.

Oh.. and PS..
If you do go there for anything don't give them your phone number. Despite ticking the 'no marketing calls' box you'll be plagued by KwikFit Insurance calls.

if you genuinly beleive your car should of passed then you can take it to the DOT.
i had my car fail one year because the ndicator was not orange enough. and that was at a main dealer.

I think it's fair to say that KwikFit are a big company with many branches - no surprise then that there are one or two bad apples in the barrel. That said, I've used them quite a few times over the years, the most recently for an MOT and experienced no problems. They aren't experts (the clue's in their name) and anything specialist is really best left to a dealer or a garage with the right know-how. But for cheap and cheerful servicing, MOTs, brakes and tyres, I haven't honestly found anywhere to beat them. It's a shame if a few cowboys working for Kwikfit are wrecking the reputation of honest fellas doing an honest job in these troubled financial times.....

If my main dealer said my brakes need changing and Kwik Fit passed them I would certainly get another opinion as the brakes on your car are something that you can't just let go, Yes I agree that some dealers will say that work needs doing when it certainly does not but I would not trust Kwik Fit to check the brakes on my grand kids pram let alone my car! As a general rule brakes usually last around 25000 miles so if you are near that milage or a multipul of then there is a good chance they will need changing.

kwikfit isn't the problem, it's the odd few people that work there.

i know someone that works there and he is perfectly fine, work standard is amazing. they DON'T get sales related bonuses so it's not in their interest to push you into more work. They get bonuses for the number of MOTs they process in a month so technically they would have more incentive to get you in and out so they can make a start on the next MOT and not waste time fitting parts.

Don't taint everyone with the same brush. They don't force you to have work done just use your head and get a second opinion.

Does not the -94 scoring tell you otherwise?, Someone a couple of years ago set up an internet site where anyone with Kwick Fit issues could voice their opinion and trust me there were dozens upon dozens of complaints on there, but I believe Kwick Fit got an injunction and had the site taken down but here is a similar site. http://www.blagger.com/db4/company_id/87/companyname/Kwik-Fit.html

only been to kwikfit twice and both times they ruined my cars!

1. Changed the oil and engine blew up 10 miles down the road as the oil filter fell off!

2. Attempted to change the battery but apprentice snapped the cable completely and they couldnt fix it so had to push it over the road to Nationwide! They fixed it in 10 minutes

you cant get sh--ter than a kwik-fit fitter!

I just took mine in to the Ruislip (Pembroke Rd) Kwik-Fit...this is my experience.

1. Whilst trying to park my car in one of their customer parking bays I was hounded by their Centre Supervisor who wanted to know my reason for being there.

2. I received no phone call to say my car was ready for collection.

3. I was served by the Centre Manager who argued that the price of the MOT was £35 despite me telling him that I had booked it through their Customer Services office for £25 with the above voucher code. A quick phone call to Customer Services and minutes later I was paying £25 to one very red-faced Centre Manager.

4. The Centre Supervisor (which I passed on the way to collect my car) had to come rushing back from his lunch break as he had my car key in his jacket pocket when it should have been in their lock box.

5. I was told that my car had passed but there was an advisory that the 'nearside rear shock absorber had a light misting of oil'. Hmmm... I had only been to my local Mercedes-Benz garage the other day for a complimentary check-up (as I always do before an MOT) and nothing was mentioned then.

There you go, another outstanding performance from Kwik-Fit! :)

Looks like they are a dying now as the garage near my work hardly has any vehicles in there now and the "mechanics" are standing around most of the day smoking.Personaly I will be glad when it shuts as I have had abismal service from them and will never go in there for as long as it has the name Kwik Fit above the door.
