Instructions:I have an account with Lovefilm and I've just received an actual giftcard (looks like a credit card) from them to give to family/friends. It entitles you to 3 months of lovefilm credit (up to £50) using the code M9F8ETFH8 (by the way...I don't get anything, no credit, nada, for anyone using this! :o) )

Hope this helps someone!

Cheers

Bex

This is cold for the reasons stated in a later post of the same thing. People can earn £20 Amazon vouchers etc if they follow other lovefilm-powered promotions like the Guardian one published on this site yesterday.

Eh? But I would rather have 3 months subs than the £20 voucher so for some this is great if we get it to work.

Hmmm - £20 voucher or 3 months free saving £57. :whistling:

So sorry you think this isn't useful!! I think I'd much rather have 3 months of free rentals (3 at a time, incl games) than a £20 Amazon voucher and a 14 day trial. You say in another post that one shouldn't be promoting Lovefilm - I wasn't aware that I was! I started a 3-month free trial 3 months ago using a code posted on this very board, for which I was extremely grateful, hence why I posted the one I was sent. If I can help just one person get 3 months of free DVDs and games rentals then I'll be happy.

It's December, get into the spirit of the season rather than being a grumpy humbug. I thought people voted cold if ithe code didn't work, not because they felt another deal was better for other people. People can make up their own minds, and quite clearly, other people don't agree with you.

Rant over!

Bah humbug! Only joking of course. As I say, my main gripe was "what's in it for me?" to promote lovefilm? And yes you are promoting lovefilm and winning them new customers. Lovefilm will soon own most of the market - I don't know what Blockbuster's market share is. And don't forget, you only get 1 free lovefilm promotion - after that, you can never ever have another one, even if you sign up to a lovefilm powered site e.g. Guardian, Tesco and so forth.

Apologies for being Mr Grumpy at this time of year.

btw - I am an annual subscriber to lovefilm and pay them £100+ pa (which works out at about £1.90 per rental). So I am a fan of lovefilm. But did anyone else that email this morning from them? They will refunding VAT (i.e. cutting their sub price) in January. No idea how it effects an annual subscriber like me though.

Yup, just logged on to say the same thing

It is true. You can make use of an offer code if it will let you e.g. a 3 month sub freebie. But you can't get some other juicy deals from other lovefilm-powered sites. That was my point. Unless you move house!

I had some bad news today from lovefilm - they are giving monthly subscribers a VAT reduced subscription. But as I pay annually they are not giving me the same reduction. Nice innit?

Sorry but you are talking rubbish. I have been on free subscription for over 4 years now (normally £18.99 per month - 3 at a time unlimited option).

I use the same codes again and again. Didnt think anyone who had bothered reading the lovefilm reactivation threads paid lovefilm these days.

Hot! Thanks for this
Now have 90 days free!

They sent me a 3 months free card too to tempt me back and I've been a member of Lovefilm many times over the years. Three months free is eligible for any of their tarrifs so I went on the combined one with the games too which is normally £19 odd a month.

So Blockbuster (whose service is better IMO) have been placed on holiday for the next three months.

Hi,
The credit card like card of lovefilm mentions that it is worth 'Upto £50'. So what happens if I select a package of £18.99 a month for 3 months free trial as it will be more than £50 when we multiply £18.99 * 3. Will lovefilm charge me for the amount above £50?
Thank you.

The whole point of this site is to promote good deals. Another code for a three month free trial at lovefilm is a good deal. It doesn;t matter what blockbuster's share of the market is - if they refuse to give long trials like lovefilm, people will use lovefilm (although not necessarily pay for it if they read these forums).

They will be giving you the reduction, but only next time you pay a years subscription. If you have already bought a year's subscription, why should they refund the VAT difference now? They must charge you VAT at the rate when you buy, not when you use the subscription. If you buy a year's subscription the day before the VAT goes back up, then you will benefit for the whole year as you pay the VAT rate on the day you pay for the subscription, whereas monthly payers VAT rate will go up.

Awesome - going to try it now :D

I have already had a trial, so i'll post back soon on how it went...

edit: just signed-up, they are currently authorizing my account... fingers crossed :)

@csiman - Just out of curiousity, when you get to the end of your 3 month trial, do you just cancel and reactivate your account? Or do you make a completely new account with a different email address and just change the last digit of your postcode?

Thanks for the tip btw, currently on my second 90day trial!

You wont be charged. You'll simply get 2 months for free instead of 3 for free. At least, that's what happened when I did the same thing after they sent me one of these £50 card things at xmas.

Am I right in saying that you can't get repeated lovefilm 3 month trials anymore without changing a letter in your post-code ? (Which to me is slightly risky.)

How easy is this to cancel upon 90 days so the subscription doesn't continue?

great deal this. have been on this for 4 weeks. very impressed. unfortunately the new releases seem to be in short supply-i've missed out twice and had to wait. still good though. can't complain at free films 4 3 months!;-)

If youre planning on doing the postcode trick, i recommend google mapping your 'new' postcode, just to see where abouts its location is (if it exists) if youve got a friendly postie he wont mind the extra walk!
