Instructions:Just got this through the post from Lovefilm:
Where have you been.We miss you and love to have you back. Please feel free to pass this voucher on to friends.
To claim your free rentals visit www.lovefilm.com/freegift and enter code LFZZ98762.
Go through quidco for possible cashback.
Looks like it only 2 discs at a time, but hey it's free and very rare to let previous members get back for free.

It also says existing subscibers not eligible,so if you are a paying member guess the best thing to do would be to cancel at the next opportunity and rejoin with this code.

I've just tried this I am an old member but it seems want to charge me an activation fee - equivalent to one months membership. Even so 3 months for the price of one.
#2
Existing subscribers or those who have previously enjoyed a free trial with any LOVEFiLM-powered site are not eligible, I guess this includes all existing subscribes as we all joined on free trials.

Yeah you're right, just tried it myself, starts off telling you it is free then asks for £14.99 reactivation fee.No mention of that in the package i got this morning in the post.Definately says 3 months free.:x Typical lovefilm trick.I vowed i would never pay them a cent again, but might have gone for it for free.

just on the quidco front their is this statement under the quidco link:

To receive your earnings you must be signing up for your first no-obligation free trial. If you use a promotional code in conjunction with this link you may not receive your Quidco cashback.

I got these in the post today too. Asking for £14.99 reactivation..What a scam..

Where does it state that.:?

This offer is for previous customers and as bazr says it says nothing about any rectivation fee or anything just 3 months rentals free.

DVDs

LOVEFiLM 5.99 1 Disc at once 2rentals per month 90 days FREE£5.99 month
Combination 2 2Discs at a once Unlimited rentals 90 days FREE£14.99 month
Unlimited 2 2Discs at once Unlimited rentals 90 days FREE £12.99 month

Ok gone through and selected the £14.99 offer and it does now ask for the fee I guess it is really the same offer that they did before of pay for 1 month and get 2 months free a very under-handed way of doing this.

Ok I have just gone through the process upto this point and from what I can see as it says the free period is 90 days and the fee is the amount after that period.

DVDs

LOVEFiLM 5.99 1 Disc at once 2rentals per month 90 days FREE£5.99 month
Combination 2 2Discs at a once Unlimited rentals 90 days FREE£14.99 month
Unlimited 2 2Discs at once Unlimited rentals 90 days FREE £12.99 month

If u go further than this it asks for a reactivation fee if u have been a member before.U can still cancel reactivation if u go further by the way.
#11
I'm confused I have gone through the activation process and it says next payment is due March but does that mean anything has been taken now or not

If it said activation fee then i guess you will have been charged whatever it asked for.If no activation fee you will not have been charged.:santa:

Oh well its my partners account :santa: I'm sure I will be forgiven.

Just got off the phone to lovefilm.Complained about the fact that they were offering me a free trial and then asking for a reactivation fee.She went through the joining procedure with me from her end and confirmed that even though it said activation fee £12.99 that i would not be charged anything until March. She completed the join up from her end and said she could see from my account that i had definately not been charged and would not be charged until March. So jase it looks like you will not have been charged either. If you want to ring them to confirm,i found a freephone number 0808 200 0193. :santa:
So here we go again on the Lovefilm journey.Bound to be full of stress, but at least it's a freebie.
#15
Thanks Bazr that should save my bacon with the other half

It not worth what?:?
It's a totally free trial so it must be worth paying nothing. :santa:
I agree their service is rubbish, but if we are not forking out anything we can't lose, can we.Join Blockbuster for free, get their latest releases and just use Lovefilm for older titles,tv series, documentaries etc.:pirate:
Thanks for the comments and extra input guys.

Fair play - thanks for the research guys.

Thanks for this bazr and for the extra info you've gathered :santa: Might give them another go myself :santa:

I too have learnt the Lovefilm lesson

I tried the trial with tesco (powered by lovefilm) only a 2 week trial and it got me £4 quid from quidco plus a free dvd.

In that trial I got 6 dvds in the two weeks, one wouldnt play and was very scratched and they sent me two disc two depeche mode - the videos dvd instead of disc one and two.

I finished the trial and went over to blockbuster (which I have yet to fault)

Get about 6 dvds at least per week and they are sent out quick and good turnaround.

I tried the 3 month trial with love film last week but was told because tesco are an agent for lovefilm that i couldnt use the trial.

Complete farce, I wouldnt even waste your time chaps going for the trial, from what i've read on here and other places they are very well known for their mistakes and taking monies without permission, they also hold back sending you dvds and try to limit you to 6 dvds per week no matter which package.

You have been warned.

Bazr,

I did the same way you described and chose the 'Combination 2' package £14.99

After I clicked on 'Confirm Reactivation' the page appeared with message 'You were charged £14.99' and when I see my account now, it says next payment date as 'March 2007'

Can you please help me understand whether I was charged for this and what can be done so as to reverse this transaction if I opt not to go ahead..

Thanks
#26
You shouldnt have been charged I got an email confirming there was no charge untill March 2007 and as Bazr has said previously he phoned them to confirm there was no activation charge.

Hi jay,I was also very confused by that and decided to ring them on the freephone number that i have provided earlier. The lady assured me that i had not been charged and could see from my account that i had not.I joined on friday and to date there is no charge showing in my card account. If you are unsure,do the same and if you have been charged, tell them it stated it was totally free and you wish to cancel and be refunded. :santa: HTH

I would like to inform about this offer to my friend who has been with Tesco DVD (Powered by Lovefilm)

Can he avail this offer as 'New customer' or 'Returning customer'
#32
I got the same voucher in the post saying come back free for 3 months. When I called customer services to complain about the 'activation fee', a woman said that was normal. She also said when customers re-activated their accounts, they always got charged an activation fee.
#33

Returning customer, as it is a lovefilm account.
If he clicks on the button for returning customers it should bring up any old accounts from lovefilm and any from others he may have had with screenselect, tesco, videoisland, moviechoices & a few others who have all been taken over by lovefilm.(i had 10)You then have to choose which account you wish to rectivate.:santa: HTH

I'm having a terrible time with these people at the moment. I had a trila with them and received a few films which I ended up never watching.
I returned ther films and cancelled my trial.
The problem is they are now billing me £12.99 a month - they say I have not received my returned films. Batting emails back and forth is very frustrating.
I would recommend staying well clear of them.

I had the similar problem. I never received most of the films. In the end, they suspended my account saying unless I gave them a new address, they wouldn't send out any more films.

I cancelled my membership this week and reactivated my account using the code they sent me to give to a freind, I was not charged a reactivation fee - bargain, what a bunch of idiots to send me it as I was going to cancel anyway as my 3 for 1 month had ended
as for their service I have han no problems with them and they have a fast turnaround
