Conveniently they emailed me this just 2 hours before my car wouldn't start this morning...!

There prices are barking!

Mann oil filter £11.68
Carparts4less £3.58

So even with the discount it's still silly money.

Yea, they do overprice a lot of stuff... I need a new EGR valve, which they've priced at £405!

Can't fault them on the battery I needed though, £46 with a three year warranty.

Interestingly enough they seem to do 48% off most weekends... I only ever shop there on a Saturday :D

Well if you clean your EGR as a part of your service then it doesn't cost you £400!

I realise I'm not helping. :)

Many years back they used to be quite competitive on price with other motor factors now I think they are aiming at the Halfords customers.

Yea, unfortunately I didn't even know the EGR was there until it was too late!

Had the RAC out this morning to get the car going again (called them as a last resort, my mum initially responded to my plea for help but then blanked me when I asked her to pop over on her way to work... and a chap down the road was far too busy to assist - bah humbug, there would have been a bottle of wine in it for him too!). Anyway, RAC man suggested soaking the EGR valve in a cleaning solution for 48hrs, so think I'll set that off on xmas eve!

If you get stuck look on YouTube. ChrisFix has a great video on cleaning the EGR valve. :)

Cheers for the tip, followed a few vids on there before, but it's properly blocked I think, needs a really good soaking / hammering... :D
