Won't use it myself, but thank you!
#6
Sounds like they are sucking up to us!
#7
Did they reduce back their price to normal level so that 5% of normal might actually be better than 10% off inflated prices?
#8
Yes Gary I think your right.... they upped their prices for their birthday and then gave a 10% code...........................

cheeky cheeky :giggle:

I think this is their way of apologising

yep, for increasing their prices, sometime past 10%, then 10% code is not much of a saving or sometimes even more expensive, im guessing they got a lot of complaints so they gave us a 5% code.

Hopefully they will have put down their inflated prices now. had a quick look at the 42" toshiba X series, seems like their prices are still inflated, £880 instead of £849.99 which it was a few days ago.

Better than nothing tho, would appreciate an end date if dixons are reading this.

Thanks to the poster, left rep and voted hot.

I wouldn't say suckered. You could get some amazing deals even if they did put up the prices. A lot of their stuff was still cheaper than anywhere else on the net after you took off the 10%. I got the Panasonic TH42PX70 42" plasma for £650 delivered (after quidco). The next cheapest delivered on the net seems to be £680 from Pixmania. And I know who I'd rather buy from!

Oh, by all mean, their prices are quite good and with easy to get free delivery and non-rip-off-Northern-Ireland policy, they have moved quite high on my list of shops. I've bought from them before. I just think that their 10% off voucher was false advertisement. If their prices are so good that the can only give a 4% discount then they should keep their price and give 4% (e.g. £600 item for £580 = 4% vs £600 item increased to £644 -10% = £580). £580 might well be the best price one can get it but that is not a 10% off their normal price.

This type of false advertisement tactics make me less likely to buy from them rather than more likely. I might still buy from them (because I have weak principles :? ) but at equal price and all other things being equal, I'd rather buy from a retailer that doesn't use that form of false advertising.

More to the point of real bargain, if they return their price to normal then this be hotter bargain than the so called 10% voucher since from the example above, £600 - 5% = £570. £10 less than the £580 the 10% on inflated prices gave. So I'll be waiting to see if their price come back down. Hope so.

I'm pretty new here to this site and ,used the birthday promo to get an Lg 42"LCD for £612 delivered(due on thurs, can't wait:-D ) ,thats £185 less than my local Curries,so well chuffed.

I think you guys are being a bit harsh. I had a good look around on Saturday and most of the products I looked at were the same price as before, or perhaps a shade more, certainly not as much as 10%. The reason I didn't buy anything was because the items I fancied were not in stock e.g. the Ipod classics.

Yeah I have done in the past - any purchase with egg gets the money off anyway so just go through quidco link and use the voucher code.

Annoying that egg have lowered the discount - was 10% for a while and then5% . . . :x

Yep as far as I know they emailed the code to fordy and he posted it. We've got no problems with merchants getting in touch with us with offers/codes - we just don't want them posting things directly (as we review submitted offers to make sure they are good).
#28
thanks admin. havn't seen you posting for a while.

well, i think next time it should make clear that's it's the merchant speaking, because it took me a long while making the sense of the quoted instructions. just a suggestion. any code is good.

True good point hotdealseeker. I'm still posting all the time ... mainly in Comments though yikes ;)
