Instructions:I've found a great offer...

Enjoy £5 off every ticket you book with TheTrainline this spring.

£5 discount on all train tickets [individually priced] over £20 booked on TheTrainline Leisure service, (excluding special delivery surcharge). This offer is for a limited period only, and is applicable to tickets purchased at TheTrainline Leisure Service online between 16 March to 12 May 2007. Tickets are subject to availability and the discount may be withdrawn by TheTrainline at any time with out notice. Not to be used in conjunction with any other promotion.

£2 per booking credit card charge applies, no charge for debit cards, Quidco cashback also available.

Offer came via American Express but it doesn't say anything about purchase needing to be made via American Express cards and indeed at the checkout you can select any card you like.

Just tried it and it works! Enter discount code at the bottom of the first page, (step 1 of 7, Journey details), in section 3 there is a box where it says Do you have a Promotion code?

very handy, as i was due to travel next month...Note: promotion code doesnt apply to all journeys. I just booked a return journey (total price over £20) but no £5 off. It turns out after speakin to an Indian Call Centre Supervisor my ticket price wasnt eligible for the discount and the other prices quoted showed the price with discount ALREADY applied... (it's highlighted lime green)

Very impressed with discount code - thanks adamuk82 (rep added)
Very unimpressed with the company

Hey, just for laughs try this out - get a quote for an imaginary journey and go for the cheapest tickets. Then do the same again but this time with the promotion code added and HEY PRESTO the price you want is no longer available.

Brill post thanks v. much for that - I have just made 2 bookings and saved £15 also quoted for a group of us to go to Edinburgh (8 tickets in total) on 19/05/07 and that is showing £5 discount off each ticket GREAT!!
I stopped using thetrainline.com for bookings a while ago when they started all this booking fee nonsense and went onto vitgin trains as they don't charge, but one lot of £2 on this occasion was beneficial with the savings overall.

Rep added - the wife just booked a £22 return for £19 (as Anniedee mentioned, the booking fee is a bit poor). Thank you very much.

Just use a debit card to get around any booking fee.
#17
I think the voucher is already expired.

Fantastic- just used this today.

Thanks

I just punched in the code and see that the "There may be alternative, slower routes with cheaper tickets" option does not appear.
For my journey best voucher fare was about £80 and without (on a slower route) £40 (albeit 30 minutes longer).
'Tis a good deal, but just pointing out that there are ways, for the very very patient, to fiddle about with all sorts of single fare journeys to get a cheaper price.

 Thanx, just booked tickets for my sister and her clan to come up for my little one's birthday party next weekend, saved £10 and they got to use the family railcard that was on offer a while back.
