Perfect timing for the summer. Many thanks.

When I try to buy this using the discount code I get the following message:

The requested promotion is not valid on this day. Please refer to the promotion's Terms & Conditions for the period of validity.

So it doesn't look as though it's valid yet.

The offer is when booked between 24TH JULY and 21ST AUGUST as the free railcard we have been given runs out on 31st July , this offer is supposed to be for the people who received these free cards

I am sorry I have to vote COLD

It is a very good offer, and I get a card every year. But posting more than 2 months before the offer is valid is not good. :x

Seems a bit harsh to vote cold. It was part of a deal by Daily Mail where you got a free railcard until 31st july. That part has now expired, but even as a heads up this is a good post. Hot for me

The offer is valid now - you get a free card until July then you can apply for the 1/2price railcard. My free one arrived this AM post, will apply for 1/2price offer when it comes around means I get an extra few months with mine.

This is a great offer, posted on moneysavingexpert awhile ago that is when I ordered mine. Hot for me...

It hasn't expired. The title of the deal is 50% off friends and family railcard.

The Offer is valid between 21 July and 24 August 2009 with Promotional Code DAILYM09.

It was possible to get a free railcard if you ordered before 13th May which would have been valid until 31st July. This has obviously expired, but you can still order the £13 railcard using the code in July. So It's a great heads up as far as I'm concerned and has definitely NOT expired

o.k sorry about that.

Looks as though from the t and c's you have to have the trial card to get the offer - so you cant just put the code in without having the trial card!

Thanks, I just realised mine expires soon and I have tickets booked in August.
#23
Excellent. Perfect timing for my renewal and it went through perfectly for £13. Heat added and thanks.

Cheers for the heads up on this offer - the one we got last year under a similar offer expired last Monday.

Really is worth it for the savings on rail tickets, especially for us (family of 3), and our 5 year old loves going on the train!!

As a bonus, the railcard also gets you discount at quite a few restaurants. We had lunch at an Italian retsaurant in York last year with ours, and got about 25% off the food bill with the F&F railcard.

Voted Hot!

EDIT: Just to add I logged in on the Railcard site and renewed mine using the voucher code, so it works for renewals as well as new applications.

Heat and Rep

Thanks

If you travel in London Zones 1-6 a rail-card will reduce the price of a travel card (off peak) down to £5 which is very cheap!

+Heat on this deal, just £13 for the entire family!
#27
Thanks, just did it and worked fine.... big thanks for the saving
#28
Nice deal, although I believe you have to have a child under 15 with you for this card, is that right?

Wish they would do this deal on the network railcard for people without children !
#29
I have bought my rail tickets for travel to London on Thursday, 1 adult and 1 child. I did not get the option of a travel card, can I just walk up to the station counter and show my friends and family card to buy one then and there for a reduced rate?
#30
Still around. Thanks for all the reminders :)
#31
i was after a new one - heat and repped
#32
i get mine every year and at £13, it pays for its self almost straight away when your traveling with three kids. thanks :)
#33
Heat and rep added. I got my renewal email through today, did a quick search and found your discount. £13 saved. Thank you very much.
#34
Just needed to get a railcard and found this. Great deal.
#35
Last time I used my rail card I saved £40 on a trip to London , £92 without card - £52 with card
#36
This seems to have stopped working?
#37

Code only valid until 31/7/09

But it says above: 9. Offer valid between 21 July and 24 August 2009 with Promotional Code DAILYM09.

I've just tried to get one with this code and the website comes back with: The following errors have been detected:
Thank you for applying for a Family & Friends Railcard. Unfortunately our system has not matched your data to our Trial Card Promotion.
You can still apply for a Railcard without the code and enjoy 1/3 off adult and 60% off kids fares.
So whatever the date is, it's not working for me!

Ahh I have now worked out I needed to have applied for a free trial card first and then I can apply for one at 50% off. Seems odd that you needed to have a applied for a free card before you could have one with 50% off!

Still working :)
