Note You Can Book Up To 3 Months In Advance I.e 20th Of October Or 21st Of October If You Book On Friday! And Not 30 Sep As Listed!
#7
How do you get the 50% off? Using the link supplied, I was getting the same prices as through the normal home page. When they ran this last year, seem to remember having to put a code in?
#8
The discount is applied at the checkout stage.

Does anybody have the 'actual' terms and conditions for this offer? Where did it appear from, and is there a limit to the number of tickets I can book today? I've got a whole stack of journeys I need to book!

Thanks. I assume this after the bit where you confirm payment at the full price? What confirmation do you then get?
#10
You select the tickets you want to purchase, and then before it asks for payment details you have a table with all of the tickets in your shopping cart in (you can add more). The discount is applied there and you can see it at the bottom, so the tickets show as full price but it states 50% discount on the bottom with, indeed, 50% of the cost removed!

woh did you manage to book 40 journeys all at once? or on separate orders? please let me know

I just booked 2 tickets at £19 each and they were discounted to be £19 for both. I have received my confirmation email and it says 2 @ £9.50. Do you think they will realise that my order is less than £40 and take the full amount from my card?

Most companies have a get out clause in their terms which means they can cancel the order and refund the order, however it against the law for them to charge your card anything extra than you agreed at the time of purchase.

Update on how to use your railcard with promotion

1) go to www.firstscotrail.co.uk (make sure you register) and put into your basket the tickets you want with your railcard discount. Keep the page open
2) click on the 50 % link and put any tickets in the basket (even if you don’t want them you can delete them later. Make sure the total is £40 or more though)
3) when you get to step 6 you can simply delete the tickets you don’t want/tickets without railcard discount

Further update on using a railcard:

Add tickets to your basket as normal at www.firstscotrail.co.uk.
If the tickets you are purchasing are over £40, then there is no need to add further tickets to your basket after clicking on the magic link. You just click log-in, and then after logging in at the bottom of the page there is a checkout buttton. Click this, and you'll see all your tickets displayed with 50% off.

Typical, finally decided what I wanted to book...now keep getting
Sorry - we have been unable to succesfully validate your journey for one of the following reasons:

The train is fully booked.

The compulsory reservation required is unavailable.

The connection to the National Reservation System is unavailable.

The train may be closed for reservations.

...anyone else getting the same or is it just me?
#20
I've not had that and booked quite a few tickets throughout the day. Maybe I overloaded the National Reservation System :)
#21
Phew...got there in the end. Thanks for the tip marko4ever24

have u read how to use a railcard with this promotion - read my comments in this post

I have had a hectic day and have not had time to look at this in detail, but my bookings are not looking great. Have e- mailconfirmation for 10 out of the 40 (stupidly didn't print confirmation page). I then booked another nine journeys printed off confirmation but no e-mail confirmation.

So I haven't a clue where I stand just now funny feeling my £135 saving has dwindled to a £26 saving. Will not be calling CS as I reckon I am realy chancing my arm so I will just have to wait and see what comes through.

I managed to this last year for 3 months worth of daily commutes so I don't knbow what is wrong this time round.

The discount is coming off in the cart. It's just when i'm putting in my card details at the reduced rate it doesn't validate my details. I've just bought a couple without the railcard and they went through fine. i would love this to work!

I think you'll be fine with them all. I didn't receive any confirmations, but I just went to the station to collect my tickets from the FastTicket machine. All present and correct, including YP tickets and a single ticket costing £2 (well, £1 after discount!).

Wonder how many more I can book today....

Thanks just used the link and treated my mum and me to a day out. worked a treat.:-D

A quick update ALL my tickets arrived today..phew.

The website can be a bit flaky at times and I almost reordered again last night but decided at checkout to wait and check with the bank on whether payment had been taken...lucky I waited!

Although 40 tickets can be ordered in one batch I suggest you split it down into more manageable chunks just in case the site goes into one of its:- "you have no tickets in your basket modes". However basket reappeared if I cleared cache, all cookies and logged off ......a real pain.

But persevere it is well worth it.

Okay this might be a long shot but would anyone who has got this to work with a young persons railcard be willing to get me some tickets? I've been trying for so long but with no joy. I've ordered a couple of sets but one order just won't seem to work. The tickets come to around £24 after the 50% off and railcard. PM me if you can help. I could pay you back immediately via bank transfer or cheque.

Many Thanks,
Michael
