can this be used at same time as education discount?

Excellent, edi great discount :)

Probably, but only with the standard ed discount, not higher ed.

Don't forget quidco (you can get that even with the HE store)

As far as I know none of these have ever worked with the education discount. One thing to note though is that there is an additional Higher Education discount which you can only get from you uni network (or vpn). Worth looking into - I just got 24" imac there last week for 1173 + free printer offer + free nano offer :)

... the basic macbook is 648 at uni and 703 from home so i will buy at uni

good discount, quite rare to find a nice chunky discount like this, works very well with any of the base imacs or macbooks.

I agree, very good discount indeed. Voted hotty :)

GREAT - I ordered a Mac Mini through the education store and doing it all through the normal store plus this saves around £15 on the price I paid through education.

Now I can cancel my order and order again with the saving applied :). Long build times are a good thing some times!

OH ******!

Ironically they shipped my items pretty much seconds after my previous post. Might email them and see if they will credit the money off to my bank, since the coupon and my order is fairly recent.

Don't think they can tell the difference between the normal and standard education store, they certainly didn't check I was a student!

Can this be applied to refurb store items??

Excellent find Edi.

Discounts are generally applicable to refurb store items from what I can gather. There's also an offer on the site where you can get £60.00 cash back on a selected printer where bought with a notebook or desktop (think that this is still valid).

Just checked. The £60.00 cash back on a selected printer where bought with a notebook or desktop is still valid (as of 23:15 11/10/06). Further details can be found here:

Hi Johncas,

Thank you .

Kind Regards.

Used this discount code in the refurb store on 14th Nov with no problem. Also got 3% cashback via Quidco, so very useful discount.

Got a macbook for £472 ( not inc VAT ) - good value I'd say !

If one buys a refurb from an educational institution does it come with the 3 year warranty?

£472? Makes me salivate...
#16
As far as I know Apple kit comes with a one year warranty - this includes items purchased from the refurb store.

The 3 year warranty is a paid-for item - Applecare - and is £199 for a macbook and £130 for an imac.

The 3 year warranty is INCLUDED on all purchases from the education store (HE at least don't know about others) but can be upgraded to include return shipping for 3 years for £59. See other threads here for details.

Probably won't apply to refurb stuff but would be great if it did... :)

I think it's only the HE store not the normal education store.
#19
Seems reasonable - after all they want to catch students for the whole of their course.
#20
Is it possible to use Quidco and the HE discount? If so how? Can this £56 be used also?

Any recommendations for a suitable case? Not keen on messenger style but it will need to accommodate a couple of files and possibly the AC adaptor.
#21
Excuse my ignorence, but where do you enter the voucher code on the Applestore site?
#22
The voucher is entered on the very last page of checkout....

Just to clarify:

Standard apple warranty: 1 year parts & labor, 90 days telephone support.

HE warranty: 3 years parts & labor, 90 days telephone support

AppleCare: 3 years parts & labor, pickup or free shipping of unit to them if it breaks down. 1 year telephone support.

AppleCare normally costs in the £200 region, but for HE purchases, it can be had for £59. This is called the "EMEA Contract Uplift" when you go through mac customisation page.

ALL discount codes do not work with the HE store. Not sure about the normal education store, but I suspect so as well.

Printer promotion is still on, expires in January. £60 off a printer when bought with a mac.... cheapest printer is £59.95... so essentially free.

If you're at a uni and want me to hook you up with a campus rep there, send me a PM and I'll send you details of their contact number.
