Heat +!

Hot from me. Although i am loathed to pre-order anything due to the way prices drop and launch offers from supermarkets etc for big titles.
#5
Dont forget quidco
#6
its just a pity that you can nor preorder pes 2010 yet cos at £29.49 before discount it would only work out to £24 ish!!!

hope they change it to a preorder before the end of the promo
#7
Some very good pre-order prices with this:

Dragon Age, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Red Dead Redemption all under £30
#8
Do they take the money from your bank before release?

Waiting to find this out as well.

Forza 3 - £30.39 (Oct 30th), tempting.
Dirt 2 - £28.79 (Amazingly the PSP version would be just £12.39)
Tekken 6 - £31.19

Need to know what the score is with payment first though.

Not a problem for Sports Resort however it does stop me ordering September releases onwards.

Shame really had ODST, COD4.2, Batman and Assains Creed in my trolley.

It does seem rather odd that they can take money from someone's account months before release. I'm tempted to query this policy with a disgruntled email.

Might be how they get a mass of cash in the short term, good luck with the email though

Thanks, i've just finished submitting it
......

I would like to query your policy on payment for pre-order of products. Specifically relating to use of the GAME20 pre-order discount code for Video Games.

It is arguably inappropriate to withdraw funds from a customer's bank account upon placement of order. Titles are often subject to delays or can be released several months after placement of order. The unstable financial climate also plays a relevant role.

Is there either a reasonable explanation or technical requirement for this practice on the Argos site?
Could a payment on dispatch process be implemented?

Any assistance regarding this matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

......

Will let you know how they respond

Ordered mine! cant wait its going to be the biggest game on ps3 and xbox ever and just had a really good deal on a pre order.. voted hot+rep
#23
£29.59 for Batman Arkham Asylum - at that price, I'm happy to pay now.
#24
Just cancelled my order as I ordered 6 games and the discount was only applied to 2!?!?! Think Argos has naused up the prices on a few games!!! If any games are showing as "currently unavailable, email me when..." then they will not apply the discount to them! Phoned up to query this and the nice lady at the end of the phone had absolutely no idea what a pre-order was, bless her. Re-ordered the 2 that I wanted and all was confirmed. Still a great deal though!

This code came at a great time after reading that Cod2 has a RRP OF £54.99

Okay, great news. I just had a response from Argos.
Unfortunately Duncan doesn't really answer my question - Read on....

'Dear Mr Beeching,

Thank you for your e-mail regarding pre order games.

At present with all orders, the order is finalised when payment is taken and then items are delivered as agreed, if this is for a pre order then we would send it as soon as the release date arrives. If for some reason the release date slips the game/s will be delivered on the new release date.

If anything were to happen in the financial market that affects the release for the game we would be happy to issue a full refund.

Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at "][email protected] or call us on 0845 640 2020.

Regards,

Duncan I*****

Duncan doesn't seem to understand that I want to keep my money until the product is physically available. I'm not exactly purchasing a bespoke coffee table, why should I pay anything upfront?

I will be writing to Duncan again about payment on dispatch
