I am cirrently on O2 and am going to swtich. As my O2 service is shown on all the speedchecks as being provided by BE, presumably I should notice no change ??

I can't currently seen any Quidco. Am I missing something ?

why change?

Its exactly the same network - o2 bought be to provide their broadband stuff, but kept be going as well.

Also if you are an o2 customer you can get a discount on be.

And mine - out in the sticks! BeThere speed is twice as fast as BT for me, even though it's all the same equipment! I just dont understand how BeThere on BT lines is double the speed of BT on BT lines??

A good deal if you're connected to one of the 20% of exchanges that can get it.

Even my crappy no mark town has be broadband LLU now.....
Hi, I recently switched to BeThere for the £6.75 deal. Price is one thing but service is all important. I can report that the service/support from BeThere is EXCELLENT. I also got £25.00 Quidco!

This code expired on 6 Sep 09 at the latest (it vanished from their site before then, when they started their new 9m contracts, which remain poorer value than o2 - especially the Be Value (8Mbps cap) which is more expensive than o2 Premium (24Mbps) over the first year AND ongoing!
Given that O2 Broadband uses the same lines as Be (they're sister companies) and have the same 2 month free deal with also £50 cashback through Quidco or TopCashBack.co.uk, I'd say it's better to go with O2.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=452840

Other benefits, if you're an O2 mobile customer then the monthly O2 broadband fee is cheaper and you also get free web texts. Customer service is based in UK for O2 which a lot of people prefer, I think it's in Bulgaria for Be.

Only thing to watch out for is to make sure you're in an O2 unbundled area (i.e. can obtain their LLU service) or otherwise you'll end up with their "Access" package which is basically using BT's lines and therefore appalling. To check whether or not you are in an O2 unbundled area, go to SamKnows (which is usually fairly accurate), after entering post code/telephone number, look on the right hand side under "LLU operator presence" and see if O2/Be is enabled at your local exchange.

hi has anyone used this and been able to get the £40 quidco tracking? I am deciding whether to go with this deal and if I can also get £40 quidco it is a bonus!
yid4life;2938027
I checked my broadband speed and at the moment I can get a max of 5.5mb on a BT line, however BE says I can get a max od 11.75mb, how come? can anyone help me? I checked on the samknows web site and it says I have LLU installed at my exchange. I would appreciate any advice before I change ISP. Oh yeah I'm currently on AOL by the way.

The fastest BT service available is ADSL MAX, which allows speeds up to 8mb, You are a reasonably close distance from your exchange, which is why you'd be able to get about 5.5mb on a BT line. BE uses ADSL2+ technology, which allows speeds up to 24mb, hence why they reckon using their technology you'd be able to get about 11.75mb.

I would highly recommend BE. Its better and faster and CHEAPER than BT.

I am unsure if this Be Unlimited deal is worth the extra cost over Be Value, as it would still be £48 more in the first year despite the initial saving. The only advantage seems to be max speed, and unless you are very close to the exchange you are surely just going to get exactly the same sub 8 meg performance you would get with the Value package?

Also, I think you get can get exactly the same network with O2 brand, and their presumably identical 8 meg Standard service would be cheaper again, even without using an 02 mobile.

Or am I missing something about Be Unlimited versus the O2 Standard package that makes it better, and worth paying significantly more?

No, you're spot on there I think. Although I'm with BE, I really should switch to O2 because as you say it's the same network but cheaper. But it ain't broke so I'm reluctant to fix it...
Also, as you say, the unlimited package will only be faster if you are close enough to the exchange. Infact when BE introduced the Value package, lots of people who were only just or not quite achieving 8Mpbs switched from Unlimited to Value.

I came from AOL too, BE is sooo much better!
BE use ADSL2+ which is faster than standard ADSL, which is probably what the BT estimate is based on. I think my AOL was about 3Mbps and I get 6.5mbps with BE.

Unfortunately Be is not available in your area yet.
I notice they do not have any newsgroups, is this true?
My Virgin contract is nearly up.. Might look into this if the offer's still on then.

Cheers OP
Nice little bonus from Quidco too. I like the fact they email you 2 weeks before your payment date, its a simple email but it speaks wonders. Even when they have a proposed downtime, they also email to let users know.

never had to contact them either.

great service.

SALES1 code works for free setup (saving £24)

******** No asking for referrals on these forums ***
Yes, initially the £24 per month is attractive with only 3 months' commitment, say if you cancel after 2 months you would spend £24X5 = £120. For the £14 per month contract one has to sit out for a year which is £14 X 12 £168. The difference is £168 - £120 = £48.

After a year, if one cancels, for the £14 month contract the notice is 1 month which means a cost of £14, whereas the £24 month contract one has to pay £24X3 = £72.

So there is not much difference between the two deals , all depends if you can use the 24 meg bandwidth which is enormous for a home user!

I got my £24 quico after 12 hours. sales1 code worked for free connection. Don't know how the £21 balance will come? How can the tracking cookies last so long? Is it the case the one must not clear the cookie on one's PC or are these cookie actually on Quico's computer?
splender

The minimum term of Service is 12 months...

Just to clarify this only applies to Be Value. Be Unlimited 24 has a much lower minimum term (3 months notice with express paid option).

I joined Be last week - with £24 Quidco. Not bitter, as the service has been excellent. The only hiccup was them sending me a router with out-dated firmware on it. They did sort it out, via a freephone support line though. Be's comms throughout sign-up is second to none: you get email and sms updates all the time.

Good news: the latest info from Quidco states this:-

Please read the following before proceeding:

PLEASE NOTE: This can take 1-2 months to update to the full £55 in your account. It will initially track in at £24, so please be aware that it will update and you have no cause for worry.
Just found this unacceptable contract term:-

https://www.bethere.co.uk/termsconditionshome.do
Please read the following paragraph carefully as it contains a change to your statutory rights. You agree that if you order Services from Be online or otherwise at a distance then Be will immediately start work on the technical and operational elements required for provision of the Services upon the issuance of Be’s order acceptance, which shall be prior to the end of any statutory cancellation period, and you acknowledge and agree that you will thereafter not have the right to cancel any Services under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 or otherwise. At the time of acceptance we will provide you with further details of when we expect to be able to connect you to the Be network. :pirate:

I am stunned that the lawyers and management at O2 think that they are more powerful than the law makers of the United Kingdom! There is no way that anyone can take away consumer statutory rights conferred by law. Lodged a complaint already. Readers of this forum will no doubt be used to reading lawful statement on goods and services:...... and this does not affect your statutory rights. The above term is stating the opposite!
