They use first class recorded next day delivery so you need to sign for item, but they are an excellent company. Plus remember they issued PES09 2 days before anyone else, so I'd highly recommend them for pre-orders as well.

Tried this before on Black Hawk Down on Blue ray at £9.99 - 10%,

They cancelled the order, emailed me to say it was out of stock, then increased the price of the Disc to £15.99 and when i complained they said that it had been increased as they were out of stock and it was to discourage anyone ordering it. I said it would be easier to just replace the price with out of stock on it! they disagreed. Idiots!

The disc had been ordered while it was 'out of stock'. In line with the offer conditions the order was cancelled giving the opportunity to reorder an item that was in stock.

A full copy of the actual email that was sent:

I can understand your frustration, however this title is ‘out of stock’ and we have to apply these restrictions for good reason. When we source ‘out of stock’ items for individual orders/small quantities the buying in cost is generally much higher and in some cases, we will make no profit just to fulfill an order. It is for this reason that when we run an offer like this, the discount can not be applied as we would potentially be selling items at a loss.


With regards to the confirmation email, this is automatic alert to confirm that we have received the order and will be sent regardless of the stock status. If there is a problem or delay with your order, an explanation email will always follow. I can see that an email was sent to you (below) to explain that your order would be cancelled due to this offer being used on an ‘Out of stock’ item.

I hope you can understand why we can not honour this for you. As I previously said, please feel free to use the discount code again.

Dear Steve, As you can probably guess, I am not very happy about this, I ordered this in good faith and was very willing to wait for the Film to come back into stock, It was clearly displayed at £9.99 which i believe to be an excellent price. But after I went back to the SoftUK site the price has been increased to £15.99 now.

If a 15% discount is not available on an out of stock item, i would have hoped that the confirmation email should have not been sent and an explanation email sent instead.
I would request that you honour the original price of £9.99 and forward me the order when it does become available as i did order this in good faith.

Thanks for the reply Steve, Unfortunetly I will be making a point now of not ordering from Softuk in the future, I regularly order from Amazon, CDWOW, Game, The Hut, Play & occasionally BangCD. I have never had an order not honoured from any of these online shops, Infact if there is any delay at all i always seem to get a discount £.50 /£1 off my next order with CDWOW.
I thought i had found a new online shop to add to my favorites as your prices seem to be pretty competitive but i am obviously pretty disatisfied with the result. Now the item has been increased by £5.00 it seems not such a good idea to buy from Softuk.
I would like to say your Email reply responce has been very prompt and this shows how good your customer care can be.
For your information i will be now ordering the Blue Ray of Black Hawk Down from The Hut now,
Play £13.99 + Free delivery.

We do honour everyday ‘out of stock’ purchases and we work very hard informing and keeping customers up to date while we try to source products for them. If we don’t think we can supply certain products we will always be up front and honest and tell customers we can’t supply allowing them to purchase from an alternative supplier.

Further more, had this15% offer not been running, we would probably still not have been able to supply you with this title. The reason the price was increased was to deter any further orders from being made. You will see that we don’t stock a vast range of Blue Ray DVD’s, and the chances of sourcing this product for you and within a reasonable time frame would have been slim. I think its far better to honest and upfront with you, than keep you hanging on for something that we might not be able to supply. So while I’m happy that you have found this title elsewhere and at a good price; it does seem a shame that you will make a point of not ordering from us again.

P.S. i don' t really think you are idiots, just dissapointed with the result and not receiving the same customer service on out of stock items as other online retailers. So that is why you lost my custom. (but obviously your attention to replying swiftly to emails is of the highest standard!)

No offence mate but it seemed you were more dissatisfied that they didn't supply you with a further voucher for your next order, which I can understand but companies aren't obligated to do this and besides, there's another 10% voucher available anyway, so maybe it would be an idea to use it on another instock item. :giggle:

If the product was out of stock when you ordered it and they decided not to charge you, then there's not much you can do I'm afraid and the retailer aren't being out of order by not fulfilling it either.

I remember I waited 6 months to receive an out of stock product from a canadian retailer and it took so long, I had completely forgotten about it and by the time they dispatched the game, I no longer wanted it, as the next version had been released.
I think cancellations for out of stock items can sometimes be a good thing and as you've noticed already, there seems to be retailers offering the same product at around the price you were going to buy it for anyway. :thumbsup:

Fair point, my dissatisfaction was that i was able to order it, then it got canceled as it was then out of stock, then they increased the price by 50% and said that was just to encourage people not to buy it after telling me they would rather be honest with customers.

The item is still out of stock by the looks of things, a month later!

I hear you mate but it sounds like it's just something that slipped through the system but at least you didn't have to wait ages to get things sorted.

I know Woolies had a huge issue about a year or 2 ago when they were selling all plasma tvs for £450.00, which was actually instock at the time and everything but they didn't fulfill the orders and weren't obliged to nor provided any form of compensation for the 1000's of dissatisfied customers.

It seems Softuk cancelled the order immediately, as they don't know when they're getting more stock in and it's already been a month, so god knows how long you could of waited, so that seems pretty honest to me.
I've seen other retailers increase the prices of out of stock products to deter interest and sales and sometimes they do this because it's hard to get hold of a product at the previously negotiated rates or have to change suppliers, so it's nothing new. :)

Trust me mate, it's better it was cancelled now, rather than wait 6 months from the canadian retailer like I did and then receive the game I no longer wanted after I had waited so long, I had completely forgotten about it because it can happen so easily.

Well at the end of the day i was not too happy and they lost my custom, might not seem like much but i wont buy from them again through principle.

Plenty of other retailes who have given me great service.
