  No you don't have to pay for hosting or build a site. You can just reg the domain for free :-)

  use 000webhost for free hosting, they are pretty reliable and easy to use. Thanks OP, got me a nice .co.uk for my Minecraft server :)

  1 year, no auto-renewal, you don't even have to enter your bank details. You do however have to fill out the information for whois.
