When did you do this because there is no link when I am trying to purchase?
#5
Can you get the £10 discount and then cancel the DVD trial straight after?

You can in theory, but I would sign up for the free trial and if you don't want the rental service, add NO TITLES to your dvd rental list, so they won't send you any dvds and wait a day or so, till your order has been despatched and then cancel the rental service.

As your free trial lasts 2 weeks and you can cancel any time within period & not be charged. I am gutted I have missed out on this offer as I signed up on the 31st of July to get the 10% off dvd orders. Now I believe they offer 5% of dvd orders - which is automatically calculated at the checkout, so if you are ordering dvds, you could get even more discount.

I personally would add 10 dvds to your rental list & wait until one has been despatched & then remove/delete the rest, as it's a 2 week free trial and you might as well watch 1 dvd for free, as you can cancel within the 2 week trial period and you will not be charged as long as you return your dvd within 15 days of cancelling.

Showing save £5 here when I try, still ok though. Tried editing the amounts and still no luck. Either this is first few hundred get £10, then £5, or a random selection of accounts.

I have already joined, so can't go for the promotion. But I have tried looking for the £10 promotional voucher offer & I can't find it anywhere only the 5% off dvd orders (even when I'm not logged into my account)

I think it is member specific, members who may have shopped at amazon uk for a while, they are offering discounts for signing up to the dvd rental by post service) & you see the amount that they will offer you, when you go through the checkout. I don't think it is an offer anyone can get (hope that makes sense)

Yep I agree now, tried it with my wife's account and no offer :-(

I tried this last night - £10 offer was there, but as it was late I stopped the process of joining half way through. I was going to do it know, but the £10 offer has disappeared. That would suggest the offer has been pulled, rather than a user-filter has been applied. :-(
#12
I managed to use it alright at about 1am last night.
#13
Nothing about vouchers when I tried today at 11:00am
#14
I got £5 off my order yesterday... but they charged me £3.99 for first month of DVD rental...so in effect it was just £1.01 off :-(

I skimmed over the T&C last night and from what I read, you can cancel within the first 7 days and get your £3.99 back. (As long as you don't rent any DVDs out)

I ordered about an hour ago - got £10 off a pair of panasonic cans (which is taken before VAT :p ). A pop up window appeared on the final page of my order...maybe you guys have a block on or it is user dependant dunno.

Anyway - no minimum spend, if you don't spend £10 it's credited to your account. Gonna cancel straight away of course

Thanks OP

I got £10 off a bin, that was posted on the forums before.
#18
I just tried it for fun, and on the final page of the order, it will show the discount. However, unlike the previouse two, I only got 5 pounds discount if I decide to sign up.
#19
I wasn't offered the £10 when I got to checkout, so went back to the homepage and went through the process again - and it was there!

Thanks for this - I was about to buy a DVD player from here anyway. Thanks given.

Part of me really want to use this offer, since there are some DVDs I'd like to order. But I also really want to know that will Amazon charge me 10 pounds (or 5 pounds) after I take on the offer but cancel it once my order despatched!
#21
Cheers for this. I didn't realise it was only on the very final confirmation page so ended up applying for the mastercard for £15. Couldn't resist an extra £10 so ended up going for the DVD subscription as well. Voted hot & repped.
#22
Where is the link? I just get the mastercard one?
#23
Tried to use the mastercard AND dvd trial discounts but it doesn't work.

If you read the mastercard TnC's you see that their £15 discount can NOT be used in conjunction with any other promotional codes/discounts - bit of a shame really as I would've loved to apply it with a 5% NUS discount :(

DVD Trial discount suggests they will charge you £3.99 for the first month regardless...which implies the discount is actually £6.01. If you use it and cancel it that is.
#24
just got the £10 discount, cool :)

Hi, This sounds a good offer. Guess that this offer is only valid where issued to customers by Amazon.co.uk as can't find this offer anywhere on their site. Failing that does anyone have a URL for this offer please?. Tried clicking on the DVD Rental sign-up link as well but no mention of £10.00 off.

Thank you :-).
#26
I couldn't find any mention either. Try adding something to your basket and going all the way through payment until the very final confirmation screen - that's where the DVD thing appeared for me.

I ended up cancelling the DVD "trial" after a day or so and then contacted them for a full refund of the £3.99. Very easy to do - cancel the account online and then there's even an option for seeking refund on the relevant contact us.

I've been using Amazon for years. I've just signed up, but received no discount at all, so I cancelled straight away. The email said my account would be closed in two weeks, will I still get charged the £3.99 & how do existing customers get this voucher?

If you go to the T&C for the DVD Rental Service it tells you how you can get your £3.99 back.
#30
read the T&C on how to get 3.99 back, I did and i got it refunded.

No you won't get charged, as your first 2 weeks is a few trial (as you didn't get the £10 gift voucher, I can't comment on whether the people who received the gigt voucher also have a 2 week few trial, as I don't know)

But if it says your account will be cancelled by the end of the 2 week period you are on a trial.

You might as well add some dvds to your rental list, as even though you cancelled, you can still use the service for the rest of the time until the date it says it will be end and then after the trial has ended you have 15 days to return your last disc (a long time) before they will bill you.

Expired?
#33
It worked for me, I actually got to use a £5 code that I had plus the £10 one for the dvd rentals, not sure if they will charge me the rental subscription as I cancelled it right away, if not i still saved £6:thumbsup:

i went and made an order and got this is a pop up box so took it, signed up, and cancelled within seconds.

Just checked my order history and the discount is showing, got prison break season 2 part 2 for just over a tenner delivered (touch wood)

Hi,

I bought 4 USB wireless network adapters (9.99 each) and got £15 refunded for the DVD signup - Excellent.

As Amazon take the discount off before the VAT, the bill came to £22.32, so £5.58 each, bargain of the year.

Many thanks to the OP.

Still waiting for my statement and voucher that follows 2 weeks later to arrive!
#37
Thanks, did this and just got a linksys PCI wireless card for 39p. Going to use the 2 DVD rentals rather than claim the £3.99 back, as it's a good enough saving as it is.

£15.00 off!!!
Just got it, it was offered to me at the check out.
Great bargain!

Me too... ...can I cancel straight away...or should I wait till items arrive?

I got this mail when I signed up!!!!!!!!!

"Greetings from Amazon.co.uk DVD Rental by Post.

There is a problem with the credit/debit card associated with your DVD
rental account. Please check and update your credit/debit card details
on your Manage DVD Rental Account Information page at
.......

If we haven't been able to successfully charge your credit/debit card
by your next payment date----we'll close your DVD Rental by Post
account."

Weird, because this is the card I have always used on Amazon and I paid for the CD's I ordered with the same card and it accepted payment....
Guess I'll not need to bother cancelling as they will do it for me...
