Instructions:This half term, from the 19th-28th October, live the jet-set life in Blighty and get your passport to the Mal. Take it along as proof of age, and well discount your age as a percentage from your room rate*. For example, if youre forty well reduce your room only rate by 40%.

If youre 100 years old you can stay for free, but well need to see your letter from the Queen on that one. So pack your bags, the all important passport and you could be off to the Mal for a daringly different city break.

If you're 110 will they pay you to stay there?
#2
I think this is one for my son's great grand mother...she's 92........

Just read the t&c,she needs photo id.......just in case she doesn't look 92yrs......to be honest she looks more like 99yrs.....but she's a lovely old lady
#3
I'll vote hot but given how expensive Mals are, I'd rather just stay elsewhere.
#4
I guess that saying old is gold is really true lol:giggle:

Just priced up London and they want nearly £300 before the discount. Think I will pass as thats a week in Spain. Obviously Dick Turpin runs these hotels!
#6
Is this for any of there hotels? How do you use the voucher or do you get the discount when you turn up?
#7
if your 100 you need to take along both parents
#8
glasgow one has weekend for 160 minus the discount of 21% (aye right)
#9
this is a promotion for guys as you girls wont admit anything above the 21 mark
#10
Ideal for a luxury break, so it is a good deal if you were ever going to pay full rate.

But beware, their pricing policy leaves a lot to be desired. London for 1/2 term one night £225.....but, room only, no breakfast and VAT not included. Never seen that before, not including VAT, is this an emerging new scam? Surprised top hotle like this is playing that game.

How are they allwoed to do this? Isn't this Age Discrimination?

I should have also put in T&Cs:

Terms and Conditions

1. Offer is available from 19th – 28th October 2007
2. When booking online the offer can only be booked by choosing the ‘Passport rate’ on the online booking page. The offer does not apply to any other rate
3. Offer subject to availability
4. Offer is valid only on those rooms booked directly through www.malmaison.com , Malmaison Booking Central or direct with each Malmaison hotel and not through any third party website
5. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any advertised offer
6. The offer only applies to the room rate.
7. Valid photo ID (passport or driving licence) must be shown by the person staying at the hotel to receive the discount

I really like the hotels and the breakfasts are gorgeous! But they're not the cheapest.

Yes, I think this would qualify as Age Discrimination.

Obviously it is age discrimination as what you pay depends on your age but mkkbb asked how they are allowed to get away with it so I assumed he meant there was something wrong with it... which there isn't.

My local bus is free if you are under 4 and half price if under 16. Is there something wrong with that as well?

I can't see where the ‘Passport rate’ can be selecteted

It is half term here in Scotland next week

I just did a check to see how much it would cost for my girlfriend and I to stay there when we visit London at the end of the month (check in 30th Oct, out 2nd Nov)

£250 per night, so £750 for the three nights.....

....plus an extra £131.25 for taxes and 'service charge'

:?

Even after a 34% discount (we're both the same age, shame we couldn't combine it..), £581ish is still an obscene amount for a hotel, even in London.

We're booked into the Ibis at St. Pancras for £278 instead.

Techinally YES actually in a world where political correctness has gone absolutely mad that would still be age discrimination.

I'm not saying that i'm particularly bothered that under 4's get on the bus free put if you wanted to be absolutely 100% Politically correct then it would still count as age discrimination as by offering the under 4's free bus travel you are then discriminating against everyone who's over 4 by making them pay for the same service.

and no that's not an argument to try next time your trying to dodge the fine for not having a ticket on the train or whatever as thankfully we aren't that far gone into this whole PC thing yet...

Sorry for the rant but I for one are fed-up with having all this political correctness rubbish shoved down my throat every 5 minutes.

wouldnt mal maison mean "bad house" ?
#27
This offer penalises kids. My 5yr old fancied a weekend away with his 3yr old brother...it's shocking that the most discount they can get is just 5% off the standard rate.

They're now going to have to stay at home as the figures just don't add up.

I knew there were some advantages in marrying a man 10 years older than me
