Instructions:I've got an account with Marshall Ward and today I received a letter with the following:
I noticed that you hadn't shopped with us for a while. We'd really like you back - to encourage you to take another look at Marshall Ward I'd like to give you £50 off any telephone order over £100 if placed before 23rd Dec 2008.

Just quote ZQ210

I've just phoned and ordered no problem, not sure if it will work for others but worth a try.

A very good point you make there. This is a Littlewoods company, and they have a very clear track record for making use of this small print. You buy at what you think is a keen price, then find that they've charged the full amount, without the discount, because the code wasn't issued to you. Many threads in here on this.

I called Marshall Ward up and the nice lady who i spoke to said the code is legit and if i was worried about them charging me the full amount further down the line that i should keep a record of the code etc and i should be ok!

Keep a record of that conversation! The problems people have had with Littlewoods companies like this are shown here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7096515.stm

The firm said: "Customers have the responsibility to ensure they are using a discount for which they are eligible.

"Our terms and conditions make it clear that promotional codes must only be used for customers who qualify for them."

The company said its terms and conditions could be read on its website.

Clause 2.3 states that a promotion can only be accepted if used by the person to whom it has been directly issued.

It also says: "In the event that the code has not been issued to you for your personal use or you do not qualify for the offer, the price of the order will be adjusted notwithstanding any e-mail or other confirmation that you receive."

Some online shoppers who had used the money-off voucher had been angered at Littlewood's request for the money back two months after the discount voucher had been circulating.

I'm not risking it.

i did call up and the lady said it was fine to use, i told her my friend gave me the code "RECOMMEND A FRIEND" she checked the code and sad "you will be etilted to £50 off if you spend £100 with us" i never told her what the code was for she told me. still not sure?? i think you will just have to take the gamble of getting a charge back!

#33
pretty tempted by this to get guitar hero world tour on the ps3... has anyone had any problems yet?
#34
tried it then the person next to the opperator told him I cant have it unless it was sent specifically to me, he said they check the codes with your email address in another depatment...so if u wernt sent the codes...u will be charged full price...cus they take the full lot out of ur account, and they credit u back if were sent the code.

Just ordered a DS on the phone.

I rang previously to enquire if I qualified and was told I did.

Order went through fine with Marshall Ward. Also doubled checked that I could use the code, although I never received the postal code.

Worth a punt, but very slow delivery (8 weeks)

forgot to add...they will put it through no problems ask....they will only check if u have recieved the code legally after the 14 days have gone, that u have had the item's and only then they will or will not refund the £50 back to u.....

so basically u cant send them back the item if they dont give u this £50 after the 14 days have gone

The DS isn't due until early Feb - so I'll take a chance.

I may even email them asking for written confirmation too, to be certain.

Rang up today and spoke to a customer services supervisor (after holding for 15 mins) regarding voucher codes. She told me that they check the voucher codes used by an account holder against their registered email address roughly 7-14 business days after the item has been delivered and if that person was not sent that code then they add back-on the discount applied to your account.

TBH, i dont think it is worth the risk, the T&C's clearly state what risk you run. Joss if i were you i would definately email them for a confirmation saying that the code you used was valid at the P.O.S so no reprecussions occur ALSO i advise everyone to pay by debit/credit card!

That should set the cat among the pigeons, particularly as they've done this before. Using a credit/debit card won't be certain to help, either, because they can charge the amount saved by using the fraudulent code and you then have to argue it out with the card company.

Not worth chancing it - their track record isn't a good one on dodgy voucher codes.

Cheers RR, godd bit of info there.

My concern was that I've only a phone conversation(s) to back me up, of which I've no record of.

I'm certainly going to email them and get written confirmation. If it's confirmed- happy days - a DS for £50 (albeit in early Feb).

Failing that I'll be scouring hduk in the run up to the big day....would prefer to have it in hand but the deal is always king!

Not having much luck having my Tesco order cancelled after weeks of waiting.
