However, several people have had success using these vouchers for money off their weekly shop in Tescos and Asda without actually having to buy the book.

Simply click the 'Use Voucher' button, print off the voucher and hand it in when paying for your next shop at Tesco or Asda.

Went on Wed with old voucher and got 24 cans of carlsberg for £9!! No authorization needed!!
Went today a bought a bottle of wine and it asked for age authorization for the wine and authorization for the voucher!!
Didn't think i'd get away with it but did!! Bottle of wine for £1.25!!
Weird how it asks for authorization sometimes but not others??
Anyone work for Tesco who can explain this??

I work for Tesco, their "blanket" policy on coupons is as follows - if you have bought the product stated, and the voucher scans, then you may accept it. If the product has NOT been purchased checkout staff are supposed to accept ONE voucher only UP TO the value of £1.
So I would say that if people have been able to use this voucher, they have been quite lucky, some stores bend the rules but most do not now-I know in my store if this voucher was accepted that the cashier would be called in for "coupon counselling" YEP they really do call it that:whistling:
Bottom line,it's worth a go you might get one of the less diligent members of staff who don't care what they scan.Go for it!!!:-D

It's best to use the self-service, because that accepts them more often than not :)

Yes but bear in mind that will flag up an alert on the system that the member of staff is monitoring and they are supposed to come over and check, but yes you are more likely to sneak it through there!!!:-D

I also work in tesco and we can accept any voucher of any value as long as tesco stock the item wether the customer has purchased the item or not and can accept 2 of the vouchers if they have purchased the item but cannot accept a voucher ment for another store ie £1 off goodfellas pizza from asda only

The first voucher worked like a charm in my local Tesco (self-serve), but I think they've got wise to it now and they no longer accept them.:-(

A hot deal for anyone who can get them to work.
#17

I can confirm this voucher works! Not had a problem using it at self serve tills. If they come and ask you about it you can just say you've put it in the machine now so they cant check it.
#20
All the self service tills at Tesco in Stockport have the coupon slot covered up with a sticker telling you to notify a member of staff if you have any coupons now, you have to ask for a member of staff to insert the coupon for you, and they check every one even if its just for 10p.

I can't even get it to scan. It shows a 'Can't Scan Coupon' notice, the supervisor came to check it out and said it's a book token. To which I pleaded complete ignorance.

Just to check, did you scan it as a coupon, or as part of the shopping?

It's such a good deal, that I might try another store.;-)

Yes as a coupon.
#23
used 2 in asda! saved £8 off the bill!
#24
Asda tend to accept coupons up to 10% of your shop in my area, but alot of places are getting funny now. It depends on the cashier.
#25
I work in Asda and in my store we have the coupon slot covered with a sticker saying please check with the staff before putting coupons through mainly because people were putting through out of date coupons and coupons that were for other stores.

Please could you explain what "authorisation for the voucher" means?

It means that the checkout operator has to check the coupon policy ( basically they're not sure wether or not they can accept it so they're passing the buck to someone else!!!)
#27
worked for me in my Tesco local. At the payment stage the girl did have to come over and accept something on her til but didn't ask me anything or check the book was in my scanned list of items. Awesome. One thing though, you do need to insert some paper into the coupon slot after you scan the coupon, it has some kind of light sensor, either put the coupon in folded up or just shove in any flyer you have in your pocket. The girl doesn't check the coupon box.

Basically the screen flashes asking for authorisation, and which point you just have to wait, then a member of staff comes over and swipes a supervisor card to approve the transaction. She asked me if I used a coupon and I said yes and that I put it in the slot, at which she said no problem and approved it!!

It's meant to be valid until the end of the month. Maybe not enough people have been buying the book with the voucher so they could have withdrawn it early :whistling: !
