The AA Breakdown cover Voucher

Instructions:First post guys so go easy. I found a voucher today that got posted to me from the AA a few months back saying extend your breakdown cover for only £10 to option 200, says valid until 31st march 2007 but thats bull because i have just rang up and upgraded quoting the ref code: 2986 lol!

Heres how you save money:

1st off you have to become a option 100 member here for £35.44:

http://www.theaa.com/services/breakdowncover/confirm_add_additions.jsp?optMshp=scon100

then just ring up 0800 032 1359 speak to a customer service rep (option 4 i think), give them your membership number and say you have this voucher quoting reference number: 2986. Not sure if you can do it online you might be able to but i rang up, its free!

It will cost you an extra £10 so in total it will be £45.44 instead of £69.19 a saving of nearly £25, Cant be bad!

for people who dont know: the option 200 relay service will tow you and up to 6 other passengers back to any UK destination, whereas option 100 is roadside repair and then tow you to the nearest garage, probably costig you an arm and a leg!

Happy Saving

quidco on the 100 memebership gives you £20 back (if i remember right) and you can also use your nectar card to get points (at one point, also worth £15) back, getting 100 membership for essentially free
#3
oh, its a tenner for nectar (2,000 points) but £25 off on quidco and 30% off, making it -£5 for year long 100 cover, or £5 for year long 200 cover
#4
If I go via the link here the price includes a £20 M&S voucher, but if I go via quidco it is 25% off instead.

Is there any way I can get the voucher (but not the discount) going via quidco?

Not tried the quidco route, but if it works its even more of a bargain ;)

I just upgraded my existing 100 cover with this code... fantastic. The best the web could offer me on their site was 24.50, so 14.50 saving there!

Also... I wanted a card for the Mrs, the standard price is 25.00, on theaa.com they're doing it for half price at the moment, but if you push (nicely) they can give you a further 20% off... got option 200 for me and the mrs for a score.

Voted hot.

(When you dial the number, it's option 4 then option 4)

2986 worked for me just now though :-)

If I want an upgrade to Joint 100 membership, would it be £10 or £20?
#10
Voted cold. I get full Gold cover (breakdown, recovery, hotel, car hire etc.) with Europ Assistance. The deal is exclusive to Moneysupermarket.com and is £31.50. Only excess is for home call out.
#11
Cheers for this just did it as I'm already a member

Bobbins: I'll go that route when mine expires :):)
#12
cheers for this. My AA was due to run out as well. Cancel and rejoin

Possibly not relayed to any UK destination

If your car can't be fixed by the roadside, we'll take you and your car to the nearest garage or an alternative destination, provided this is no further.

Bobbins, nice idea, just had a look at what they offer. One thing that has caught my eye in the small print of Europ is:

"What is not covered:
Roadside labour charges in excess of one hour"

Do the AA et. al also impose this charge? I've had a look and cannot find it but would be interested to know.

My AA roadside cover is just about to be reinstated and i'm half tempted to take this offer, or cancel completely and go elsewhere such as Europ but wanna make sure i have the cover i need.

I went with europ assistance a couple of years ago because of the great price through money supermarket but i abandoned them because of a clause they had in their terms that said something like they will relay you home or put you up in a hotel "at their descretion". I called them to ask them to explain this and they said that basically if i broke down away from home and i requested a tow back to my local garage, they would only do it if it couldnt be fixed locally within a reasonable time. I asked them what reasonable was and they said it was "at their descretion"!

The reason i want a relay service is that i want to a) get home and b) have my local garage fix it for me.

Check the terms to see if this is still the case because they got to have some sort of way out of towing you home to be able to offer it at that price.

Thanks for this Walterboy :)

I've spent a few minutes now looking around, and i cannot figure out which one to go with.

Just to keep you informed of all the options, make sure you read the following:-

it is
£33.60 if you go here http://www.theaa.com/services/breakdowncover/select_cover_type.jsp?coveroption=100

And if you 'refer a friend' both of you get £15 M&S vouchers: https://www.theaa.com/services/breakdowncover/membergetmember/refer.jsp

I'm not sure whether you can combine them. Tell me if it works :)

Oh and I've got a question: would my left-hand drive europe registered car qualify for the breakdown cover? I didn't find anything about this issue, so i assume it's ok?..
#21
oh and maybe someone could refer me then? Name and email required that I could send you personally.
#22
Cheers - went with the Quidco, 25% OFF and Nectar Points. The original code worked fine for me.

I couldn't seem to get the 25% off AND M&S voucher working at the same time - it seems it stores a cookie on your pc so you have to go with one or the other. I don't see why you can't use quidco with the M&S voucher so it just depends if you which one you want - £12ish discount, or £20 M&S voucher.
