this has caused immense hassle for me.
i was about to book a hotel when i seen this. and luckily my hotel was on t/c website and the code worked. all good so far.
when the final payment with the £30 off was to be taken it said the voucher couldn't be used.
i met all the criteria on the terms and conditions.
so i decided to call them.
after 2 hours no one could tell me why the voucher was being refused. i said not to worry and just forget it. after i got off the phone i received a conformation email for the full amount +£30.
i never authorised this payment!! on the phone , i got loads of apologies and it has been a IT fault etc etc. i was promised i would be reimbursed immediately.
was annoyed as i was taking the kids out today and the simple task of booking 2 nights in a hotel had taken me 2 hours and finally i had been charged for a booking i didnt authorise.
anyways , go out and forget about it. return home this evening to see a cancellation email.
and of course a cancellation fee of £17.
    what a nightmare :)
all i wanted was to book a room for 2 night and now this mess.
no one from thomas cook wants to know about it , say its expedia as they run the website? so i get passed back and forth.
will give them a chance to call me tomorrow although thats highly unlikely.
i doubt they are allowed to hold my card details on their system , i didnt authorise the payment so i think its fraud so i will contact bank etc and see if that eventually gets someone to call me up and quite simply refund me the £17 and whatever the call charges are , maybe £5.
the 3 hours i have wasted on my sunday and the kids may as well be forgot about.

2 days of this now :(
just spent another 3 hours on the phone tonight , on hold for 38 minutes there when it finally went dead as i presume they left at 10pm.
    disgrace!!
today when i called , i was again apologised to.
i was told this would all be sorted out , i would get the £30 off and a further £25 to cover the cancellation charge and phone calls.
all quite reasonable i thought , i lose my time but am happy to finally get the hotel that i need to book anyways and i wont be that much out of pocket.
what i had to do was pay the full price through sales of £92.
then i would be called by customer services to deduct the £30 and £25.
    of course this didnt happen.
so again i have been made to pay £92 for a room that is advertised as £62.
i of course called back , i was then told that there was no record of any such offer.
it is hard to keep calm in these situations , however i was assured that previous phone calls would be listened to and i would be called back.
4 hours later and no one called me.
i again called and sat waiting for 40 minutes and didnt even get an answer.
i cant begin to explain what an absolute joke this is.

i will not be calling again.
i will call in person to a local thomas cook shop and sort this out once and for all.

to date i have paid £184 for 2 nights in a travelodge.
this has been taken already from my debit card.
last night the calls cost £7.29
would be the same if not more today.
if i do get the 1st refund i will lose £17 in a cancellation charge for a room i never booked.

i pity the local shop manager when i get there in my lunch break

This is awesome. What a hot deal. Found 3* hotels for 2 nights coming in at around £40 thanks to this. decided to take full advantage and make it worth a $15 discount on a 4*.

    well todays fiasco.
called into thomas cook on my 10am break , had printed a load of emails and a copy of my phone call times and charges from BT , had a brief summary prepared and thought to myself that this will be easily sorted out today and i can move on with my life.
i had decided to call in , give the details over and say i would be back at lunchtime to end this.
    not how it went.
i walking into the high street shop that said THOMAS COOK on all the signage and window dressings , i started to tell the manager the story and she stopped me saying that even though the shop said thomas cook , it was in fact nothing to do with thomas cook . com.
i threw a bit of a wobbler but the woman was ok , she explained and said even she cant get into the systems to check bookings etc from the codes that i had. however she said that she would use her emails and numbers to see if she could find someone to sort this mess out , she took my number.
at 12 she called me to say that she had just spent 75 minutes on hold to thomas cook .COM. that was the number she had instore , she said it went dead after that time.
she called some thomas cook retail hod numbers and got a number for me.
she said that she called it and was answered right away but they couldnt deal with the query even though she was a shop manager because they could only discuss it with me , the lead traveller.
so anyways , she gave me the number and i called it.
it did indeed answer right away.
the girl said she couldnt do anything until she got the reference numbers for the booking.
she tried all of them , the cancelled one , the current one and said there is no record of you ever booking anything with us. she used my surname etc etc and again nothing.
she said there was nothing i could do with her as she had a blank on me in her records.
she said all you can do is call the original number and wait again.
so i finished early at 3 and went to the office.
i called and waited till 3:30 , i got through and the girl went through all the same shyte that i had been telling every tom dick and harry for 3 days now.
she said , would you like to book the hotel sir??
i think i lost a year of my life in stress after that.
so i lost it a bit and got supervisor on the phone.
she went through everything , said there was only a booking made with the call centre yesterday for £92.
she said that she could refund the £30 off as was stated on the website.
i said i had already been charged and had a cancellation fee of £17 for a hotel i didnt book.
she said that I HAD MADE THIS BOOKING MYSELF ONLINE AT HOME AND CALLED ON SUNDAY TO CANCEL IT!!!!
my head is melted at this point , i said are you seriously trying to tell me that i am making this up?
she said according to our records you made a booking online on sun 3rd and called our centre shortly after to cancel it.
i threated her then, i said i will not rest until this mess is sorted out.
i took her name and she changed her tune.so she asked for all the information again , times of phone calls etc , i had them from BT so i gave them to her.
this was at 4:45 after nearly 2 hours.
she said she was going to listen over the phone calls and would call me back this evening.
thats as far as i have got.
to say i am angry is an understatement.
to date there is still £184 taken from my bank account and no sign of any refunds.
to date i have been offered £30 off this.
i am unsure now if i even have a booking as it cant be found on some systems.
i am ready for the looney house .
i will update the next chapter as and when it happens.

she said according to our records you made a booking online on sun 3rd and called our centre shortly after to cancel it.
i threated her then, i said i will not rest until this mess is sorted out.
i took her name and she changed her tune.so she asked for all the information again , times of phone calls etc , i had them from BT so i gave them to her.
this was at 4:45 after nearly 2 hours.
she said she was going to listen over the phone calls and would call me back this evening.
thats as far as i have got.
to say i am angry is an understatement.
to date there is still £184 taken from my bank account and no sign of any refunds.
to date i have been offered £30 off this.
i am unsure now if i even have a booking as it cant be found on some systems.
i am ready for the looney house .
i will update the next chapter as and when it happens.

The voucher was for online only so why did you phone Thomas Cook in the first place.
Seems a bit wierd to me.
