Sounds like a great deal, but are the prices with the voucher used any cheaper than supermarkets etc. I am very suspicious about these marketing 'ploy's' I mean, if they have the '3 cases of beer' for £20 offer (as in ASDA etc), it would be superb.

yes, its a good point. last year i remember there being a lot of confusion about wether this offer was actually an error on their part as Thresher would like us to think or some well calculated profit making excercise to get punters into the shops.

but if they're doing it again this year openly, i guess it proves last year's was a well crafted money making manouvre afterall!

not that im saying its a bad deal :santa:

Gone 4 it to... Thx

Might actually make their prices reasonable now. Hot deal!

Yahoo cheap fizz. Maybe they did better last year than they originally anticipated. I compared prices with Sainsbury etc last year, but the shops are all close together. With the voucher the plonk turned out cheaper, by far.
#13
Cheers OP. Used this last year. It's not going to be applicable with the current 3 for 2 offer, but it does work out cheaper, and is more convenient when you aren't looking to buy in multiples of 3.

I think Threshers got absolutely inundated with these vouchers last year so good on them for bringing them back.

Have some hot-hot-heat. :)

the local at the end of my road has a few wines that arent in the 3 for 2, priced at about £4 each, the blossom hill california white is one of them if memory serves

ill go in tonight and see if i can use this voucher on a load of them, ill stock up for xmas at £2.40 a bottle :santa:

For some reason I can't enter my details - in IE and in Firefox I've tried. Anyway wuth that voucher until the end of november, do I just have to take it into my local "The local" and show the voucher at the till?
#18
Thanks for this, heat and rep left:thumbsup:

I've used the previous voucher a few times now, the one that was valid from 1/09/2007-30/11/2007. Hick...
Bought mainly Wolf Blass and Flinders Realm, which with the voucher worked out at around £3.58 a bottle. This was cheaper than most supermarkets and so represented good value. You just need to be careful which wines you buy.

Just gone to Thresher website to find my nearest shop, and it came up with one called Victoria Wine. Being on their website would I be able to use it there or is it limited to actual "Thresher" shops?
#21
ive just used the voucher in the local

they had some single bottles reduced from £8 to £4, i got 3 and paid £7.14!!

cheers

Its the Thresher Group and Viccy Wines are in their group, I have used voucher in there before and got a freebie 4 pack of Beer with another voucher.

It was in rural Scotland and they didnt seem very clued up or used to the whole voucher thing, the manager was very concerned that is was a print out I went in with!

Well they weren't posting them out were they :)

No Beer!!!?!?!?!

Hmm, if this was like last year then buyer beware. I worked out that the savings were very marginal when compared to buying your booze from the supermarket. Let's hope this year that they've improved the deal.
#26
This is just a marketing ploy really and only offers a marginal saving over Thresher's normal prices. The voucher was emailed round as a "secret" last year but it's all marketing smoke and mirrors.

The key is that this 40% voucher can't be used with any other offers. Thresher's have a standard 3 for 2 policy running all the time as their prices are consistently high.

If you take £5 bottles of wine as an example, ordinarily (3 for 2) you can get 3 bottles for £10. Using the 40% off voucher you can get 3 bottles for £9 (£15 -40%). So in this example it's only a 10% saving over their normal prices. Better to get the supermarket deals.

Complete marketing con IMO, no way is it cheaper that tesco wine

Not all bottles of wine are cheaper in Tescos which makes this deal very good.

Gallo White Grenache is one example that I can think of - both do them for about a £5.
#29
I did a comparison last night on a couple of wines I wanted to buy and Tesco was consistently cheaper, particularly adding the quidco and £15 off voucher (and it's delivered).
