At some point in the future, it is very likely that they will cancel these codes and they will add the extra amount to your account. This has happened to me and a fair few others on here... See this thread: http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98471

If you decide to order and they do this and you have taken delivery of the goods, then they are committing "breach of contract" and you can sue/get Trading Standards onto them.

It all depends whether you can be bothered with the hassle that will most likely come. I for one, will never be using this bunch of scam artists again.

The retailers name needs adding to the title of this thread.

Read the thread I linked to above and it should be a bit clearer. I am not having a go at your post, just warning people about the potential pitfalls of shopping with these people...

Hmm, I'm using great universal, and they seem to have accepted the 50% off code in the basket, but I can't see any deduction anywhere... I'm about to place the order - will the final, confirmed amount be discounted?

I've never bought anything from great universal, and I want to buy a pair of men's boots, btw.
#10
The email will show the true discount... The websites they use are **** and should check validity of vouchers at point of sale, but they don't.

you are right. thank you.
#12
This is fun... even the final order summary page doesn't show any discount.

I better get the pissin' discount.
#13
I hope you do, but cynicsm leads me to believe that it will eventually be cancelled... If they do cancel it, get in touch with Trading Standards. They will side with you as once the goods are dispatched, they haven't got a legal leg to stand on, regardless of their T&Cs...
#14
I'll be cancelling the order if the email confirmation contains no discount.

Gits.

When codes have not shown up in the past, I have contacted them to point it out and they have give me the discount!...You can always return them if you don't get it

Hi jason, thanks for the post. Please try to make informative thread titles, as "discount vouchers " doesn't tell people much about the actual thread. Please see the links in my signature for help on posting deals. :) Generally we try not to post a lot of codes in one post, we usually post them individually, after testing that they work, so each can then be removed or expired individually.

Before now they have never done this to me, then in July I put in a £25 off code, they applied it to my account and then this months statement says that they have added £25 onto my account stating that the code was invalid!! I emailed them and all they said was the voucher was not valid...not really a satisfactory reply.

£10 codes deffo work for littlewoods and GUS, tried the 50% on jeans and it looked good. These seem to work on card orders fine.
#28
thanks a million
#29
they accepted my code few weeks ago for something i ordered, i received a statement this week, with them trying to charge me full price, so i rang them, they tried every trick in the book to get out of it.Eventually i lost the plot and suddenly they honoured the code... we will see if the correct price is on the * new* statement.

50% works on french connection and firetrap
#31
Beware i think that they tend to allow codes to people then as has happens after its too late to send goods back invalidate the code. Not happened to me as yet but iam waiting for it soon. Not sure its worth the hassle to use the codes anymore as down the line you may get a lot of money being charged back to you.ps.s a good way to up your turnover at inflated prices, they think they can get away with it but im sure they cant.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but I meant that there is a high probability that the voucher code(s) will be cancelled. I made two orders - one for an iron (using the £25 code) and one for a pair of shoes (using the 23.50 code). Sidestepping the fact it took them FOUR attempts to deliver the correct shoes, they tell me SEVEN weeks after dispatch that the codes are not valid as I "was not elligible to use them" - WTF? How can they do this after seven weeks when I have no option to return the goods as they have been used?!

I have raised a case with Trading Standards so I will let you know how I get on. Like I said, the Shop Direct group are a bunch of immoral, ignorant scam artists who believe they are above the law.

If you want to order from them and use codes, be my guest, but if they are cancelled, be prepared for a fight because they just will not listen to reason and admit that the fault is at their end... F*cking proles the lot of em...

They do get away with it cos people just rollover and accept it. People need to take a stand as what they are doing is illegal. Once the goods are dispatched, a legally binding contract is formed meaning that they have accepted the order and any codes redeemed. For them to remove the codes is breach of contract and they are leaving themselves wide open to be sued for this...
#34
Probelm is how do you tackle it?not pay and end up in court?get bad remarks on your credit file?they seem to hold all the aces as they know people arent going to take a stand unfortunately.

Start with Trading Standards - I have. They will fight your corner for you. If TS manage to get your codes reinstated, which I fully expect them to do with mine, then that will set a precedent for everyone else... If my codes get reinstated, I will look into suing for breach of contract...
#36
okey dokey, let us know how you get on.

On a different note why when I have asked them not to, have they left catalogues on my doorstep:x , this on 2 separate occasions in 3 weeks. It is possible to post a phonebook through my letterbox. I have closed my account & I will not order from catalogues in the future.
#38
If this has happened to anyone and you want to take it up with TS then it might help if (maybe - dunno) if we can reference each other's cases? Mine is with Derbyshire TS and the case number is 132027. Lets fight!

Cos they employ morons who are not capable of carrying out simple instructions or understand the law... :viking:

You were very unlucky if they have cancelled both your codes the £23.50 and £25 code.

As they shouldn't of rejected the £23.50 code, just the £25 code. As the £25 code, didn't have a minimum spend limit and Littlewoods lost alot out money from it, they have to stop selling HD and Blu ray dvds within the Littlewoods PLC group, as loads were ordered with the £25 code and the suppliers sent Littlewoods a huge bill for the HD & Blu ray dvds (which was much greater than the money they took from customers) I don't know alot other goods, but I guess they lost just any much money on them. But couldn't afford to stop selling them.

Whereas the £23.50 codes, had a minimum spend, and from what I have heard didn't have the same impact on the company.

(PS I don't work for Littlewoods, so I won't able to help with your queries, i heard this info from a friend of my dad's)

I didn't order anything with the £25 code, as I don't like the way Littlewoods debit the full price & then refund the voucher, it sounded to risky to me.

However I don't think they should charge people for their mistake. But i guess they have had their lawyers look at the case & have decided it is within their rights from their T&C's to reject the code all these weeks later. And as so many order were placed with the code, they lost alot of money, not just a little & want to recover it.

But I weckon if you fight your case, they will consider the cost impact to the reputation of the company, so could back down
